Even though I lived there for a decade and we still regularly make it to town with the boys, I’ve never tried a food tour in town?! I mean, what is there not to love about some good food and drinks around Soho? I have now ticked that box as I enjoyed a food tour with Jet2Holidays. Feeling tempted to test it out? To celebrate the huge news, the brand invited me to join some other bloggers on a food tour in the heart of Soho. We all met up on a sunny Saturday at Golden Square, right beside the King George II statue.
As the team of Chubby Fellow Tours welcomed us with their very own gin cocktail, we carried on our culinary experience throughout Soho. I am sure George would have approved.
Spanish Tapas At Bar Kroketa
Now, I LOVE all sorts of food, but starting our Chubby Fellow London Food Tour with tapas hit differently. There is something that screams summertime when you sit down around a good glass of Spanish Vermouth and croquetas.
As we stepped into the cool Spanish bar 5 minutes away from Piccadilly, it was like being back in La Costa Daurada (another destination you must check out with Jet2).
But for today, au menu, 2 croquetas, 1 with Ibérico ham and a prawn version. Tell me you are salivating right now…
Bar Kroketa on Beak Street doesn’t do boring tapas! It’s cool and yummy, so much so that you will want more!
Chocolate Truffles At William Curley
Now, all we need is a little something sweet. The Pâtissier Chocolatier William Curley boutique will charm you with its beautiful windows.
As Easter is approaching, it was all about bunnies and chickens. All they needed to complete it was a French chick, right?!
Sérieusement though, the boutique situated on Smith’s Court was the perfect vibe! No, what would be your jam? Tuscan Raspberry or Rosemary & Olive Oil truffles?
No wonder why the artisan chocolatier won so many awards. You can also find his creations at Harrods.
Prosciutto & Cheese at Lina Stores
I will only say it once, cheese is life. Oui, a strong statement, but it is a motto for a French lady!
My nan would have loved Lina Stores. The Italian delicatessen & restaurant in Soho is a dream come true. As we come in, we were surrounded by gorgeous smells.
The Colombe di Pasqua (the traditional Italian sweet bread shaped like a dove) reminded me of my childhood, as we would have those with my Italian grandparents. Oh, the nostalgie…
Every time I step in a place like this, I know my nan is looking over my shoulders.
Au menu, some nibbles of prosciutto San Daniele and Ubriaco rossi cheese and it was absolument délicieux!
Suvlaki with Pork Souvlaki & Courgette Fritters
Chubby Fellow London Food Tours promise you a culinary trip across Europe in the heart of London. So it was only right to stop by Suvlaki and enjoy the famous authentic Souvlaki with a glass of Greek wine.
And just like that, you already find yourself booking your next holiday in the Mediterranean Sea.
As we sat around la table with the group, the Chubby Fellow guide was telling us all about how Espresso Martini was created! I am not sure how we got there from Greek food, but that’s the beauté of such experiences.
Did you know? Le fameux cocktail was invited by the iconic British bartender Dick Bradsell in the early 1980s at the Soho Brasserie in London. Apparently, a famous model at the time partied way too much one day and ordered something to “wake her up and f*** her up” at the same time. At first, I thought it would have been either Kate Moss or Naomi Campbell. But I checked it and it looks like they were both too young at the time. Rumour has it Marie Helvin was the lady in question. Have you ever heard that story?
Pastel De Nata at Café de Nata
To finish our yummy Soho Food tour, we made it to the Cafe de Nata for a cheeky crisp pastry filled with silky-smooth custard. How did I never tried this location over the last 18 years? This is beyond me…
But I am glad I corrected l’erreur! I think my face says it all. Can you see the sparkle in my eyes. Nothing can go between a woman and a sweet treat.
This was la place parfaite to end our Chubby Fellow London Food Tour.
Chubby Fellow London Food Tour – Le Verdict
Wow, what an experience! I really enjoyed our Chubby Fellow London Food Tour. From the moment we all met up until the end, we did not stop, savouring yummy international food.
Plus, the team had so many fascinating anecdotes along the way. From food, drinks or even more general knowledge about London and Soho, I came home full and happy.
It’s well-paced and engaging so you are not bored. En plus, you get to discover or rediscover some cult locations in town while sampling city’s diverse cultures and their food.
L’autre plus? I came home satisfied, but not stuffed. It was just the right balance of food. The guides were so nice and they really passed their love of food and London.
Wherever you are from, this is a very cool way to explore London.
You know it by now, nothing beats a Jet2holiday (excusez-moi for the punt, but it had to be done!). I might have not physically flown on that day to some foreign lands (after all, it was only an short train journey from Kent), but I certainement made some fabulous memories with Jet2holidays again.
