Bonjour lecteurs! Looking for a family-friendly destination? Don’t look further as I have for you a beautiful place to visit! Last month, I was lucky to go on a press trip to La Costa Dorada with Jet2holidays and I totally fell in love with the area! The Costa Daurada is located on Mediterranean coastline in the region of Catalonia and it’s such a beautiful place with such a great variety of activities for you to enjoy! Let me share with you now the Unmissable Things To Do On The Costa Dorada in Catalonia.
La Costa Dorada With Jet2holidays
Explore now la Costa Dorada and book one of the many flights to Costa Dorada with Jet2. You can even grab flights from Manchester Airport to Barcelona if you want.
Or come directly to Reus, which is only half an hour drive. During my recent trip, I stayed at the beautiful H10 Imperial Tarraco with Jet2 In Tarragona, but you have so many other options on the coast line that stretches over 200km!
And no wonder why it’s called The Costa Dorada, aka the Golden Coast! You are transported to some of the most beautiful beaches, vivid turquoise water and pretty towns and villages!
Tarragona
We were based in the historic Roman city of Tarragona and quelle beauté! Not only you are right by the beach if you want to relax.
But it’s also one of the most historical sites in Spain, with Roman ruins for you to see and learn more about the Roman Empire.
Stop by the impressive 2nd Century Roman Amphitheatre built right next to the sea. Imagine the gladiators fighting to death while the people were mesmerized by their talents.
Walk around the ruins, stop by a tapas bar for a drink and some queso and other yummy treats.
We also stopped by Tarragona’s 12th Century Cathedral after wandering along the cobbled streets.
And if you are lucky, you might even witness a Human Tower rehearsal by the local club.
Reus & La Casa Navàs
Love walking around what looks like a postcard? Then Reus is your spot!
The town is filled with modernist architecture. Did you know that Gaudi was actually born in Reus?
Most people believe he is from Barcelona because of the Gaudi House Museum. But if you want to go back to la source, check out The Gaudi Centre where you can learn about the artist’s life.
If you book one of the holidays to Costa Dorada, you will see the influence that the Catalan architect and designer still has in the area.
Another amazing Thing To Do On The Costa Dorada? La Casa Navàs which overlooks the main square.
Now open to the public, the then private house with the most amazing exemples of Art Nouveau is a masterpiece of couleurs.
From the vibrant stained-glass windows to the unique tile work and beautiful terrace, it’s a true Catalan dream.
Le Priorat & Montsant
During my trip, I was also lucky to hike in the Montsant where we even met an hermit living in the Ermita de Sant Joan Del Godolar.
Quelle experience!
After climbing the hill in 4×4, we got a full tour of the Priorat vineyards.
It was amazing in the sun, before heading to le village for a walk around and finish with a degustation of the local wines.
Quite obviously, you can see how much the French monks influenced the area from the 12th Century.
The prime example of this has to be Cartoixa d’Escaladei. The old monastery is an heaven of peace and quiet among the flowers.
Visit Siurana & Enjoy The Sunset
If you like a bit of une aventure, then you need to drive up to Siurana.
The village is an absolute gem in the Catalan landscape and apparently, less than 25 people live there!
Once again, there is plenty of history to witness thanks to its 12th century Romanesque church. Or you can simply enjoy the spectacular views and dream among the old stone houses and the romantic cobble streets.
I also recommend you stop by the local olive oil farms. I came back home with a bottle and it’s just délicieux!
Nautical Sports In Salou
Feeling sportive? Then head over to Salou where you can try paddle boarding and more at the nautical club.
Personnellement, je préfère a walk through the coastal path. It’s such a beautiful area and l’excuse parfaite to get some fresh air with your family.
No wonder why Salou is one of the most popular resort towns in Catalonia! Some spots feel like you are on set of the next Hercule Poirot movie…
Stop by one of the many restaurants and enjoy some fresh fish and the fameux Gazpacho…
We even got to do some yoga right by the Platja Beach. How pretty!
Enjoy Catalan Food in Cambrils
Another beautiful town to see in La Costa Dorada is Cambrils.
It’s absolutely beautiful, from its fish market to the most famous ice cream shop in Spain, Antonio Sirvent. I tested it for the purpose of this post and I can confirm, it is pretty good!
The town is known as as the gastronomic capital of the Costa Dorada, so pick your choice and discover some new food!
We stopped by La Salva Street Food, which is a fusion of classic Catalan classiques with Japanese inspiration and that was absolutely AMAZING!
Yes, that’s right with incredible cocktails, anime-style décor and food served by mini sumo s’il-vous-plaît!
Parc Samà Near Cambrils
I know I pretty much said that all the locations in this post are Unmissable Things To Do On The Costa Dorada…
But you must go to Parc Samà near Camrils. The beautiful botanic garden is true gem with over 1500 species within 14 hectares of land.
We even got to see a peacock doing a show for us and that was quite frankly something!
But not to miss all the other species such as the parrots…
Also, j’ai adoré the main house with its Cuban influence. It was such a peaceful place to visit.
C’est parfait for children to explore and have fun.
Aquum Spa
Last but not least, si vous préférez luxury holidays, then you need to visit the Aquum Spa within the Estival Park.
You know me, I am always looking for a new place to get pampered…
Well this spa and wellness centre was quite something with a large choice of rooms and experiences. Kids are also welcome and they even have their own mini pool just for them.
Meanwhile, you will find me in the sun getting a good dose of Vitamin D before going back to a grey and moody UK…
Et voilà some Unmissable Things To Do On The Costa Dorada in Catalonia. I hope you got inspired to visit La Costa Dorada soon with your family. I certainly had a great time and I can’t wait to come back there with the boys one day!
