Fight The January Blues
The Windmill is an iconic pub on Clapham Common, only a 5-minute walk from the tube. C’est la location parfaite in South London if you fancy a bit of country vibe, but still want to explore more in town.
As soon as we arrived, I recognised the spot. It’s the pub we would stop by before heading to the South West Four Festival when we were younger and used to jam!
Now, the idea of an exciting weekend is to dress up, put on some makeup and stay in London for the weekend with my family.
A different kind of fun, and yet it worked. As soon as we stepped in, we loved the welcoming atmosphere and the shabby chic décor. It’s my kind of place for photos, while Grumpy Boyfriend can enjoy a drink, and Stanley can chill by the fire. Do you like the sound of it too? Keep reading,
Cosy Rooms
Young’s Rooms offers une grande sélection of pubs for you to stay with your family. We checked it out in Buckinghamshire a few years back and had a great time. So we were keen to do a London version of it.
Think cosy inns with elegant vibes. When the country meets the chic attitude from London. Our family room featured a comfy bed and a sofa bed turned into a sleeping space for the occasion.
It’s snug and charming with all the amenities you need.
There is even an honesty bar if you fancy a snack. Everything is done so you feel at ease at all times. From the sleek (yet with some cool vintage touches) bathroom to the the hanger featuring the Young’s Pubs logo, you could imagine you are in a local village. Only, you are in the heart of London.
There is even a games box to play together. The Mr Men Top Trump Cards were quite handy at dinner to keep busy. We had certainement had fun rating them around some good food.
Food & Drink For The Win
But it was not just a super cosy stay because of our beautiful room.
The food was also a winner, and let me tell you, the pub was packed in the evening. I think we can establish that it’s a good spot for dining out in the area.
While he enjoyed a full burger, I ordered two starters with some salad.
One for the win as well for le petit-déjeuner the day after. We secured some fresh pains au chocolat et croissants at the buffet in the morning. But you can also order a cooked breakfast on top of the feast available.
L’atmosphère was tranquil with such gorgeous light from the windows as we ate our food. It was a different crowd in the morning, with the other residents and a selection of locals, enjoying a fresh breakfast.
Pretty appetising, right? I can confirm that staying in a pub includes a relaxing start to the day. From a cheeky lie-in with a good paper to some classic British food, you’ve got it all to be happy.
The Bar Is Your Lobby
Even better, the space was littéralement our oyster the following day. The pub might have been rammed when we checked in the night before. But we had the bar space pretty much to ourselves and it did not disappoint.
How beautiful is the space? You can see that the Windmill has been a pillar for years in the area. It’s my kind of vibes, with all les petites touches you love in a pub. I fell in love with the décor, the lighting and all the quirky bits that makes Young’s Pubs stand out.

Explore The Area & Further
We were keen to explore and walk around Clapham Common (so many memories there from my 20s!).
We walked around the lake and jumped on a bus to Battersea Power Station.
After all, we wanted to explore London South, so we were here for all the vibes.
A bit of shopping for me while Stanley had fun outside. But also some tapas food at Control Room B with a cheeky cocktail or two to finish the day. It was the weekend after all.
The Windmill Clapham – Le Verdict
Our visit to The Windmill Clapham was such a relaxing experience. It has it all for us to recharge, especially on a miserable day.
This is your sign to book a stay in a pub now and totally enjoy the cosy vibes that goes with it. From enjoying a drink by the fireplace to snoozing in your bed win front of the telly, you have it all to be comfy.
It’s the best feeling if you want to explore a new area without having to travel too far. Beat the winter blues with an escape in the country or in town. Whatever is your jam, Young’s Rooms will take care of you.
