Bonjour lecteurs! Becoming a maman is such a big change in your life. And you can read all the books you want before the bébé arrives, you will never be prepared for what it means! The first few months with Baba were overall a bliss. Alright, I was still healing from the birth and losing my hair like crazy, but I loved having him, so little in my arms. And god knows that I had my doubts about being a stay at home mum at first and I also felt the mum guilt! This is all so overwhelming, especially when it if your first baby! So many things to get right! I met Natasha Kaplinsky as she co-founded Mum & You with some other fab ladies last month. She talked to me and some other bloggers about The Nappychat App. I tried it with the brand’s nappies and wipes and here is what we liked about it!
Nappy Changing
I might have tried to see the funny side of it all in my early days of a maman, but the whole business of nappy changing can be a bit of a worry for young parents! Before Baba, I never ever in my life had the pleasure of changing une couche!
I don’t know how, but I always managed to get away with it! When you are not a parent, it can seem a bit scary to do it, non? It’s like holding a newborn! You feel so much pressure about it. You don’t want to break or hurt the bébé, right?
Well, I remember so well my early nappy changing experiences with Baba. Being as delicate as possible not to hurt him… Plus the tips and pieces of advice from everyone!
He felt so little and fragile, I was just trying to survive it all when really, it should be one of the privileged moments to bond with your baby!
Some Facts About Your Baby Brain
Did you know? The first 1000 days of a child’s life are vital to brain and language development? You must have heard it before. I remember putting some classical music in Baba’s room while he was having a nap. Naively thinking that he would become a musical genius! Those days are long gone! Once he is eventually asleep, I now make the most of it by working!
Talking about development, who would imagine helping it all while you change their nappies? Well, why not? Talking and singing with your baby during this not so pleasant business actually means that you can make it a better moment and enjoy it a bit more! Instead of awkwardly doing it, praying that you will not drop them!
And that’s when the Nappychat App by Mum & You comes into play.
The Nappychat App by Mum & You
The Nappychat is an app by Mum & You to help you Chat, Sing and Share with your baby.
Le concept est simple. The app is free is and very easy to use! Designed with bright colours matching the brand’s nappies, it is such a fun tool to use.
Once you have downloaded it on your phone, you have some quick access to many resources: poems and stories or playtime for something a bit more active!
The app is well thought so that you can use it at every stage with your little ones. So it is not only for babies as you have 3 ages options:
- 0-9 months
- 9-18 months
- Over 18 months
While the poems and songs section is filled in with many pieces for you to enjoy with your little ones, we made the most of the playtime bit.
Indeed, Baba is currently potty training, but it did not stop us from testing the app in other circumstances than nappy changes!
The Nappychat App by Mum & You – More than Bonding
As Baba is now a toddler, I have not used much the content for the early days. However, it is nice to think that young parents who would not really know where to start with (we have all been there once back from the hospital!) can have such a back up if they don’t really know what to say!
As I previously explained, it can feel a bit awkward or silly to talk with the baby when you change them. Especially for dads or other members of the family! That is such a nice app to help with it if you do not feel comfortable!
Plus, the more you use it, the more confident you get and it is becoming a real plaisir!
I know that young mums can feel a bit the pressure sometimes to create that ‘bond’ with their baby as soon as possible. Even if it is clear that the Nappychat App really helps with it, it does not make you feel guilty at all!
What I mean is that you do not have to use it every day. It is a nice back up if you are running out of ideas or if you don’t feel like it!
Plus the selection is so sweet, it doesn’t feel forced!
5 Things we Like about The Nappychat App by Mum & You
- It’s free to download and gives you access to many ideas to enjoy with your family
- Everyone can use it! I love the fact that it is not only for mamans!
- The characters featured are rather sweet and seeing them encore et encore can help to implement a nice routine
- You can use it from the comfort of your house or anywhere else!
- It is so good to discover songs and poems along! Being Frenchie, there were some that I did not know! They will be wisely used with Baby number two 🙂
The Nappychat App by Mum & You – Storytimes and More!
It is also a good way to inspire your storytimes. And that, to me, is the most important! Not only it is a nice way to spend some quality time with your little one, but it will also implement a good routine.
And listening stories is the start of all! It will give them the love of reading and later on develop their literacy.
So however you use it now, it will have a good consequence on the future toddlers they will become!
I really like the fact that it has been created to support parents (and their relatives). In a time of your life when it is so difficile to get it all right, it is a nice help! After all, we have so much to learn once we become parents, any support is more than welcome!
And it is also an app that follows you as your little one grows up! I have used many games and ideas from the playtime section and we really enjoyed it! Some were new (after all, I can not think about everything all the time!). Others were classic ones we have enjoyed over the years.
Either way, it is down to you!
The Nappychat App by Mum & You – Le verdict
The best thing about The Nappychat App by Mum & You? Everyone can use it as they feel! There is no right or wrong! And that is the best way to make parents feel good!
You can now download the Nappychat App on both the App Store and the Google Play Store.
And if you are looking at nappies and other products for babies and mums, have a look at the brand’s website! I particularly like Mum & You biodegradable baby wipes, but there is more you will love!
Thank you so much for reading about The Nappychat App by Mum & You. Have a look and play a bit with this fab app to help parents in an exhausting (but so rewarding!) journey.

We have a new grandson on the way so I will have to remember this app for the happy days when we are caring for him.
I will have to get my granddaughter to read this blog as I am sure she will find it very useful. How things have progressed since I had my children.

This looks like a great app! Something to remember to pass on to new parents.
Lots of helpful stuff here but I think in the modern world we must be careful about saying’Did you know? The first 1000 days of a child’s life are vital to brain and language development? ‘. Many modern first time parents have been through higher education even if they are not graduates, and it is normal for them to gain information by reading books written by experts or asking experts such as midwifes. Young midwives will have spent time studying for a degree in nursing or midwifery, but not have had time to spend as parents. Our parents (and our grandparents) are successful parents as at least one of their children have survived and will have a wealth of experience freely available. Hopefully they will know the right thing to do with a newborn, with three month old etc. without worrying about brain development or the development of bones, or child psychology, or ….I would say don’t worry over much about about the science of child development – just ask your mum what to do.
Really helpful info and something to look into.
Am I the only one who thinks all these new theories and appliances are a waste of time? Every baby is different as are every mum and dad. As long as a baby is loved, nourished and cared for they will thrive in a happy home be that a one bedroom flat or a mansion. my mum gave me some sound advice, and some that I ignored. Part of the pleasure of a new baby is discovering what is right for you both and I just feel too much pressure is being heaped on young mum’s heads to have the right (usually incredibly expensive) equipment, follow the current (so called professional) advice and use far too much technology. Not a fan of this app at all.
My sister is expecting so I will show her the app! Thanks!
