Bonjour lecteurs! You might have seen it by now. We are obsessed with BRIO. The brand always creates beautiful toys that are made to last and we have so many trains but also a cute camping set we reviewed last month. This time, BRIO kindly sent us its Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar to test. It is a bit different from what we had so far but yet, it is pretty much another success! Read now our BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar Review with all the details.
BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar
Please note that before trying this super colourful toy, you need to insert 2 AAA batteries so that your little one can express their musical talents 🙂
So what is it all about? No train this time!
THE BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar offers a very fun way for your child to discover the basics of music.
And when you do the right combinations, you can also create some famous melodies!

L’idée est simple: each time you place a wooden knob in the holes, it makes a tone. Connect the head and the tail of the caterpillar and you will produce a cute melody with a light. How fun!
BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar – Some Cute Features
As Grumpy Boyfriend is very musical and has many keyboards, we are trying to get Baba into music. Very young he has shown a lot of curiosité for his dad’s instruments.
So I was very excited to receive the BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar. I am far from being an artist myself so I thought it was a good idea to get Baba and I playing together and have fun!
The Brio Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar is basically a surface with sensitive spots. We like the vibrant colours and the choice of adding a caterpillar. It reminds me of a children’s song. Sweet detail!
And if your little one is stuck, you have a booklet in the box with the different ways to produce a melody!
Baba Plays Some Music
But it is pretty simple to use and Baba was fast to create some tunes! He was just very excited to produce some sounds.

He quickly worked out that by connecting the head to the tail with the knobs (you have 4 in the pack), he could make some music.
This is very clever because, for younger children, the Brio Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar develop their sense of melodies but not only. Kids can also discover the notion of cause and effect (put it in the right hole and it will make a sound).

Another thing we like? Baba has played with it so many times and the batteries are still going strong! God knows that he created a lot of music! You might have seen it on my Instagram as I shared a couple of stories…
BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar Review – Le verdict
It’s another success with the BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar! Baba absolutely loves it!
As always with this brand, each detail has been put into place so that you can have hours of fun with the toy.

La preuve it is a cool toy? Baba is usually good at sharing his things but I was barely allowed to touch the BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar when we took it in Devon with us!
The full set is compact so that you can take it anywhere with you (we even had some music in the car!). We love the colours, bright and so vibrant as always!

This is a very clever toy to develop your little ones’ senses. It helps them develop sounds with music and logical thinking when they work out a combination to make melodies.
Plus it is super fun for children as the caterpillar lights up when you create a melody! Suitable from 24 months, I would have happily let Baba play with it before (careful with the pieces not to be swallowed with younger ones!)

What a fab toy! Even I enjoy it when I am so rubbish with music!

What do you think about this cute Brio toy? I hope our BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar Review got you tempted to get one? Retailed at £34.99, it would make a super fab present for any aspiring musician 🙂
Disclosure: With thanks to Brio for sending us the BRIO Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar. It is always a happy day in the Frenchie house when we get a parcel from BRIO 🙂
