I recently made it to the Algarve with Jet2 Holidays Indulgent Escapes, and I must say that I fell in love with the area. Not only did we explore some really beautiful locations, but we also stayed at the stunning W Algarve. Now, if you want the full package with a modern and stylish pied-à-terre to explore the South of Portugal, it’s truly a gem. From a warm welcome with some fizz to splendid rooms that feel super comfy, The W Algarve honestly has it all. Is this the coolest hotel in Albufeira? W Algarve – Introduction
The W Algarve makes l’option parfaite if you want to explore Albufeira this summer. Opened in 2022 as Portugal’s first W brand property, the 134-room hôtel mixes luxury and style well.
As soon as I arrived, I was truly wowed by its imposing façade moderne and the blue entrance that looks like a sea full of jewels. Check in with a glass of fizz, while the smiling team takes care of you. Quelle arrivée!
Sérieusement, I have stayed in other W hotels in the past. But the W Algarve is quite something else.
Now this is what I call a good start. But is W Algarve the coolest hotel in la région?
My Room at the W Algarve
My room was absolutely stunning and so spacious. If this is the standard at W Algarve, book me in for the next 5 years…
Bienvenue, Frenchie! Some Pastel de Nata were waiting on la table.
I had so much space to spread out. As you walked in, there was a walk-in wardrobe. C’est idéal, as I never pack light…. Even better, the light automatically turned on as I walked in!
The tour carried on with a family bathroom, including a shower and toilets.
How cool is that I could see the rest of the room while brushing my teeth?!
The room was absolutely STUNNING! In between the bohême but chic décor ( I wanted to take that vintage chair back home!!!) and the balcony with a pool view, I had it all to relax.
Don’t even get me started on the huge bed that was made up every single day. I even had a chocolate waiting for me each time.
It was magique from start to finish.
L’Atmsophère
As I got to explore the hotel further, I came across its beautiful bar lounge. Here again, I was easily wowed by its relaxing but très chic atmosphère.
It was clear that the place was a cool spot int he area.
From the terrace outside to the pool area, the hotel is absolutely sublime. and scream cool holiday vibes.
As I walked around the resorts, it all looked very relaxing.
This is clearly where you come if you want to chill with style.
The exteriors were as sublime as my room.
A Family-Friendly Hotel
It felt quite spécial, and yet I can still see myself booking a room here with my family. Indeed, the W Algarve might not look like the obvious choice for a family holiday, but it features quite a lot spaces for children to have fun in the water.
I have no doubt that Stanley would give it a go in the hot pool outside. Even better, there is a even a children’s playground and a family pool with a shallow bits for the little ones.
En plus, you are only a short walk from a secluded beach only know by the locals. So you can even pack a bag and walk down to la plage to make sand castles and more!
I am all for a family holiday, but I don’t want to give up on luxury. That’s way W Algarve is parfait. The children can have fun at the beach and pool, but mamans can also get some Instagrammable pics with a cheeky cocktail or two! So everyone is happy…
Petit-Déjeuner at the Market Kitchen
Un autre plus for families? The breakfast at the Market Kitchen is quite something.
I am kind of a gourmet, but I have never had a strawberry pastry like this. Now for a Frenchie to be gobsmacked with un croissant spécial, it says it all…
Plus sérieusement though, le restaurant is absolutely stunning and once more, the staff was on hands to assist with a smile.
Help yourself to the buffet or order from the à la carte menu for a délicieux start of the day. There was no way I was going to miss out on this cool French toast. Don’t tell me you are not salivating right now.
Le petit-déjeuner was un succés. It had all I love: some amazing food amongst a chic setting. What else do you want?
Food & Drinks at the W Algarve
Start with the W Lounge, where you can sip on a cocktail while dreaming you are some sort of mermaid. I mean how beautiful are those sea-themed alcoves for you to relax with your loved ones?
But you can also enjoy some Italian food at the Paper Moon restaurant. I started with a burrata that was to die for before tasting the calamari. Looking back, I should have ordered a pizza or the risotto that looked amazing.
Once again, the restaurant looks stylish and welcoming. You know you are in for a treat.
I also recommend you stop by Vino to try a wine tasting there. Sadly, I did not get to check it out, but it looked really nice. My little tip? Book a holiday with the grand-parents so that you can enjoy un dîner romantique just the two of you…
AWAY SPA at W Algarve
To finish en beauté, you can also book a session at the AWAY SPA. What I liked about it is that it felt quite VIP. Indeed, you need to book a session (22 euros for a couple of hours), so it does not get extremely busy and noisy.
I would littéralement leave the little ones with their dearest papa for a couple of hours so that I could relax in style at the Aways Spa. Now, it’s not a huge space, but it did the trick.
In between a jacuzzi session and a bit of plunge pool, I LOVED lying on the sun bed while overlooking the resort. It was quite a lovely view.
If you prefer something a bit more active, you can also make it to the gym facilities. Once more, I was in heaven…Can’t you see?
W Algarve Review – Le Verdict
It was my first time in the Algarve and I must say that I truly felt like a princess at the W Algarve. The hotel is chic and modern with une touche luxueuse, but without trying hard. I’ve never seen such a smiling team and it always felt genuine.
There’s clearly nothing too good to please you here. My bedroom was absolutely stunning. The electronic curtains, the goodies waiting for me each day in my room, the walking wardrobe, the view from the balcony… It was spot on and I truly can’t find anything to fault at the W Algarve.
Even the food and drinks ticked the box with sophistication. The hotel has it all for your family to enjoy a beautiful holiday. It’s a truly stunning hotel.
Plus, it’s well located for you to explore and try new activities to do in the Algarve. Now, is it the coolest hotel in Albufeira? I have not been to any other resort in la région, but I can definitely say that it was the coolest hotel I have checked out in a long time.
So oui, it’s a hit and if you want a luxury holiday that has it all to relax with style, the hotel must be on your list. The W Algarve with Jet2holidays will no doubt make you feel like a VIP.
