Bonjour lecteurs! Are you already looking at travel options for 2025? If you fancy some vacances romantiques in the sunshine, I could not recommend more Spain. It’s been one of my fav destinations for years with Grumpy Boyfriend. We’ve been there many times, with and without Stanley! It’s full of culture, good food and unforgettable experiences in the sunshine bien sûr! From historic cities full of charm to stunning coastlines that are parfaites to relax and unwind, Spain is a country where love seems to fill the air. Here are My Most Romantic Spots To Visit In Spain.
Romantic City Breaks: Barcelona, Madrid, and Seville
I’ve tested all those beautiful Spanish cities for you in the past and they all offer romance on every corner.
J’adore Barcelona as the city offers so many places artistiques with a seaside vibe. You and your partner can stroll through the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter, admire Gaudí’s whimsical architecture, or take in the breath-taking views from Park Güell. Finish the day at a tapas bars et voilà!
Madrid is also une bonne option for a romantic Spanish gateway. Indeed, the city is rich in both art and history. Spend a day hand-in-hand at the Prado Museum, admiring the works by Goya and Velázquez or walk around Retiro Park. Why not rowing on boat across the lake, watching the sunset? I would end the day with a local flamenco show full of passion…
We also visited Seville a few years ago and we loved walking around the vibrant plazas. Explore the Real Alcázar Palace, meander around the Plaza de España, and get lost among the charming streets of Barrio Santa Cruz on a carriage ride.
Coastal Escapes: Costa Brava & Costa del Sol
For couples who dream of the sea, Spain’s coastlines offer both lively beach towns and secluded coves. Whatever is your cup of tea!
La Costa Brava features many picturesque villages, where you can relax together at the beach and try fresh seafood.
We’ve also loved La Costa del Sol for its warm weather, white-sand beaches, and lively atmosphere. Par exemple, Marbella is a such a gem with its little boutiques. But you can also party all night!
I would also recommend La Costa Daurada. I’ve actually been this year and it was such a beautiful experience filled with culture, good food and sensational weather!
Island Adventures: Tenerife and the Balearics
If you fancy something a bit more adventurous, Tenerife holidays in the Canary Islands provide a unique landscape where you can both unwind on black-sand beaches or hike through Teide National Park to see Spain’s highest peak. While in Tenerife, you can explore volcanic terrains or even snorkel in crystal-clear waters. Quelle bonne idée!
The Balearic Islands like Ibiza also make a good option for a romantic gateway. While it is famous for its nightlife, it’s also home to quiet beaches and secluded coves perfect for daytime relaxation. I reckon it’s also quite family-friendly if you wanted to come back with your littles ones in the future!
Foodie Havens: San Sebastian & Bilbao
I don’t know about you, but I can’t imagine a romantic holiday without indulging in local cuisine!
That’s why you need to stop by the Basque Country as it is a culinary dream. Start in San Sebastian, known for its world-renowned pintxos, a Basque version of tapas served on skewers. Spend a day sampling these delicacies together in the old town’s cosy bars: each offer une spécialité différente.
Bilbao is also une bonne option. We love its striking Guggenheim Museum but also its traditional Basque flavours. I would recommend you try some of its most famous dishes such as the bacalao pil-pil (salted cod). Visit the marchés locaux such as Mercado de la Ribera. It’s full of savours and you are in for a some culinary treats!
So when are you booking your plane to Spain? Where do you plan to go in 2025?
