Bonjour lecteurs! Time to reflect on my monthly highlights. February 2020 has been a true whirlwind! We celebrated our 10th Anniversary with Grumpy Boyfriend. For the occasion, we went for a short family getaway in East Sussex. I think we will do something a bit plus romantique just the two of us without Baba when the weather gets better. But I truly had a fab time over half-term with the boys!
Stormy
The start of the month was rather quiet. With all the storms happening one after the other, we stayed at home beaucoup. We also had some play dates with some friends. And to Baba’s happiness, it involved many cars.
Despite the wind, I was lucky to be invited to a fabulous preview at the gorgeous View from the Shard.
A girls’ night out with cocktails and entertainment was all I needed.
Family Time At The Pub
I don’t know about you but I get bored at home if I don’t get out, even to go to the park. I need some fresh air to operate.
This is why, despite the weather, we braved it for some pub lunches.
This is what I love the most about living in Kent. If we feel a bit bored indoors, we can always drive somewhere charming and have an impromptu adventure.
Or a good dinner at the pub aussi! I love places like that in small villages where it is slower, with barely any internet. Then I can totally switch off to spend some quality time with the boys.
Valentine’s Day & Our Anniversary
And this is exactly what we did on Valentine’s Day.
Baba was at the nursery so we headed to a local pub and had some lunch just the two of us. It was low key but really lovely.
En plus, we had time to celebrate our anniversary in style. Et oui! I met Grumpy Boyfriend 10 years ago! If you fancy reading a bit more about our encounter and my recent thoughts on parenthood, head over to my Letter on Motherhood now! I wrote it in honour of Giovanna Fletcher’s new book.
But back to our anniversary! Grumpy Boyfriend promised he will take me abroad for a romantic weekend after Easter but we had diner at the Ivy Brighton on the night.
We had such a lovely time! And the staff must have heard the occasion. They came up with surprise cakes for it!
The Ivy In The Lanes, Brighton
Sérieusement, this half-term was one of the best by far! For once, I slowed down a bit and did not take on many projects. I knew Baba would be at home with me 24/7, so I did not want to stretch myself and get stressed out.
Instead, we had a lovely getaway in East Sussex. We went to Brighton for a night where we had our anniversary dinner with steak tartare and chocolate dessert for moi!!! Oh, la la! But the calories were worth it! It was absolutely délicieux!
And I also love the décor. Every time we go to the Ivy, it is like being in the Great Gatsby! Even the toilets are worth a visit just for an Instagram shot!
Plus, we stayed at the Pelirocco Hotel for the night. It was so unique.
Half-term in East Sussex
And our mini trip continued with a sumptuous stay at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne.
This place is magical and so family-friendly. We both switched off totally during our stay. We enjoyed some time at the pool when it was cold and windy outside.
Baba was in heaven as he was treated like a petit prince there!
I look back at the photos and can not control but smile. We made lots of memories there and I truly enjoyed the break.
We came back home all refreshed and happy.
February 2020 – Our Anniversary & Getaway In East Sussex
I finished February 2020 with the launch of Billie Faiers’ new collection for Asda.
Looking back at this month, I feel fulfilled and happy.
Each month, I take a moment to review my yearly goals. I have 10 targets and mark each one out of 10. When I did my review on paper, it looked like a 5/10.
I have not reached many of my goals nor done much work towards them. But inside, I truly feel like February should be 9/10.
Because of all the fabulous things I have been up to and our mini getaway for our anniversary, I truly feel happy and at peace. I am not worried about my 2020 goals that much and how little I achieved this month in term of my career.
Sometimes, life is more than a plan and February 2020 proved that a break is always more beneficial than working to extremes.
How did half-term go for you despite the poor weather? Did you manage to have some nice adventures with the kids?
Disclosure: This post may feature some sponsored content I previously published on the blog. But it is merely a summary list of the month! And a post for me to reflect and learn key life lessons! Thanks for your support and your messages as always!?
Sounds like great February. My boys are older now and between running them round to their various activities all half term week they wanted to chill indoors so a nice relaxed ish week.
A lovely summary of your month. Congratulations of your anniversary. Yes, little breaks are important to relax and unwind.
