Bonjour lecteurs! I am late to the party to write up my monthly highlights, but getting to it eventually! As usual, the start of September has been busy with catching up with work and going back to routines. How was the return to school for you? I hope it went all well and that the kids are now settled? August 2024 was littéralement a freaking fabulous month. Indeed, as I mentioned in my July 2024 Highlights, it was my birthday. So we partied a lot on top of many lovely days out. So much that we made the most of it until going back to school in September.
It’s My Birthday!
It was my birthday and like Anne-Marie says it so nicely ‘ I can do what I like!’. Well, it was lovely!
After a fabulous weekend in London with the boys, we made it back to Kent where we had the most beautiful lunch at the Pig at the Bridge. I was so spoiled!
We also celebrated l’anniversaire of a friend of ours in London Bridge the same weekend. What a series of parties!
A New Boiler
Once all the celebrations were out of the way, it was back to normal life with Stanley at home on holidays.
He went to The Whipsnade Zoo on a fabulous trip with Nanny S, which was parfait. I could catch up with a lot of work and we even got a new boiler!
Hurrah! After so many problèmes, we came to la conclusion that we needed a new one. How exciting is my life…! I mean, you can’t say that I don’t live it large. And thanks to our new addition to the house, we had to rethink our plans for the summer… But it’s just a little setback! Hopefully, next year will be différent. Did you go abroad this summer?
He’s Back Home
Once back home from his exciting mini break with his nan, we made the most of the sunshine together.
Days were made of a mix of crafts, outdoors adventures and some aventures gourmandes too.
We checked out the new brunch menu at Wagamama and went to see Despicable Me 4 au cinéma. Did you see it? What did you think of it?
So cute to have a mini date just the two of us! I am making the most of it before he turns into a grumpy teen and doesn’t want to have anything to do with me anymore…
Canterbury & Leeds Castle
After a quiet week at home, we also had so much fun for the Cars Show at the beautiful Leeds Castle. As you may already know, it’s one of my fave locations in Kent and the day certainly did not disappoint.
Think endless cars from classiques to the Ghosbusters famous ride…
There was something for everyone! As well as lots of rides and visiting the castle again pretty much on our own! Now that was something…
Stanley also went to Barracudas Camps for a few days while I was working in town. I loved walking around Westgate Gardens in the sunshine. Canterbury is such a pretty city!
A Trip On The Kentish Coast
And in the middle of August 2024, we made it to Kent Downs Cottage in Petham for a mini break in the area.
We discovered a new part of Kent and explored again many seaside towns like Herne Bay, Whitstable…
The joys of being on the seaside! It was so beautiful to switch off for a few days and make the most of the summer.
Stanley loved exploring the area and playing with the local children while I would be reading my book in the sunshine looking at the hills.
We stopped by Canterbury and checked out the Cosy Club before going home and it was SO GOOD!
But we also had some summer walks closer to us to get some fresh air.
London Adventures
After such a good dose of Kent and its gems, it was time to get back to some fun in London.
I met up with my oldest friend in London to go and see The 39 Steps at The Trafalgar Theatre. What a fun night! I really recommend it! I loved the original movie by Alfred Hitchcock and this was certainly fun!
But I also made it to The London Marriott Hotel County Hall for its fabulous Twits Afternoon Tea. And what a sumptuous décor and the food was so good too. After our dreamy visit, we decided to reread this classic by Roald Dahl. It’s so exciting to know that a new movie is to be released on Netflix next year!
Back Home
Back home for the last week of August 2024 and like many others, I binged on Emily in Paris… I am littéralement watching the second part this week and I can’t wait to see Rome!
We also had the most relaxing Bank Holiday, catching up with family and wearing all my fav new vintages bits.
It was simple and yet so energising. We made it to the nearer village for a walk in the woods with a drink at the local pub, before going back home and having a bath. So good! You can never be too grateful for hot water again! Who ever thought that running a bath could become such a luxury… thanks to a new boiler!
Getting Ready For September
Et voilà! Just like that, the summer was coming to an end and we were getting ready for back to school and the routines that go with it. We played a bit more, we went swimming… We did so much!
But before we turned the page, we made it to Eastwell Manor for a beautiful walk in the sun among the trees. It was barely end of August 2024 and yet, it felt like Autumn.
It was so pretty we managed to do one of my fav shoots this year. I worked with Uniqlo for the occasion and I LOVE all the pics from this session. I shared so many photos on my Instagram page, but you can also see all the beautiful pieces in my AW24 Uniqlo post. Plus, I joined LTK so if you like any of the bits from the shoot, you can order them in a few click. Shop all the looks via my LTK link 🙂
It was beautiful to sit on the terrace and have a drink, thinking about everything we had achieved last month.
The day before he started school, we also went for a final walk and had pizzas before getting ready for September.
August 2024 – A Freaking Fabulous Month
Looking back at August 2024, I can say that we had a freaking fabulous month. On top of my birthday and all the fun that goes with it, we made so many beautiful memoires as a famille. We even made it to the beach!
I am always a bit worried about the summer holidays because 6 weeks can be long to try to keep him busy while managing my work.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my freelance work and the freedom it gives me. But sometimes, it’s difficile to deal with it all while doing the rest, especially when my routines are out of the windows.
I always book and plan lots of activities so that Stanley is not at home playing video games. Plus, the weather has not always been great, so I was a bit worried that we would have a bit of cabin fever… But I think we did pretty well in the end haha.
And now, I am glad it’s back to routines where I reflect first thing in the morning and go for my morning walk after dropping him off to school.
How was your Summer holidays? Did you stay in the UK or did you travel abroad? What was your best adventure in August 2024? Let it be a beautiful and colourful September.
