Bonjour lecteurs! Where do you like to stay when you go on holidays? Pour être honnête, I am usually a fan of luxury hotels ? I have not been camping for a while and a spa with champagne is always music to my ears. But we stayed at the Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton during our little gateway over half-term and I totally succumbed to this cool place! Regardez now as it is unlike anything you might have seen before!
The Hotel Pelirocco
Situated in Regency Square on the seafront in Brighton, very close to the fameuse British Airways i360, it is less than a 10-minute walk to the city centre.
So if you fancy a stroll or a bit of shopping in the cool location, it is a bonne option! Or you can go for a drink too. Mind you, you could actually enjoy a cocktail or two at the hotel because its decor is really worth you stopping by!
Described as England’s most rock’n’roll accommodation, the Hotel Pelirocco is a quirky boutique hotel in Brighton with less than 20 rooms.
There is no parking but we booked a car park only 5 minutes walk from it.
L’originalité? Its room bien sûr! They are all based on a specific theme. You can even book one dedicated to Star Wars! Or your very own pin-up parlour for the night if you fancy something else ?
Our Dollywould Room
As it was half-term and Baba was with us, we went for a family-friendly option with the Dollywould Room.
And it was absolutely crazy! Indeed, it is entirely dedicated to all things Dolly Parton and Americana kitsch!
Designed in the style of a country cabin, you are literally surrounded by Dolly Parton memorabilia. Without forgetting the dear American flag!
No need to say that the guns (unloaded!) were a hit with the boys…
Ok, I admit I had a go too and imagined myself as a cowgirl for some pictures.
Family-friendly
Ultimately, the Dollywould Room is super family-friendly.
It is so spacious for a boutique hotel and the original Regency bay window meant that we had plenty of light too! A nice touch to remind you that you are actually in Brighton and not somewhere in America.
Baba was quick to find the complimentary chocolates and he was extremely happy to have his own single bed too!
Let me tell you that he was quick to make himself at home amongst the patchwork blankets with his cars!
Personally, I really liked the space. There is nothing worse than a room where you feel like you are on each other.
Top marks too for the en-suite with shower! How cool is this?
Plus, the Rituals toiletries also got the hotel some extra brownie points! Call me superficial but I love a good pamper when I am away. Those were smelling lovely!
More generally, given that is was full of memorabilia, the room was clean and full of character!
Hotel Pelirocco – L’atmosphère
Ultimately, the Hotel Pelirocco is worth a visit for its quirkiness. No way you have been to a place like this before.
Our room was not the only thing to get us back in time.
The lift too! It was like being in a movie from the 70s! And the corridors are covered in caricatures and pop and rock posters!
I was actually expecting to meet some mods!
Seriously, it is very rock’n’roll and so much fun! So différent from what I have ever seen before!
Breakfast & More
But the place in itself is not the only good thing. Marko and his team made us feel so welcome during our stay.
The breakfast was basic but it did the job. You have a small buffet but you can order some food from the kitchen and the homemade granola was délicieux!
More importantly, you can enjoy your food amongst rock stars such as The Beatles and Jimmy Hendrix.
We also had a cocktail in the lounge area in the evening and it was really cool! The bar looks very 80s and once more, the staff was lovely.
Such a warm welcome!
The Hotel Pelirocco – Le Verdict
As the Hotel Pelirocco is very rock’n’roll, you might not consider staying there with a child. However, our room was super family-friendly and really spacious.
And it is so close to the city centre and the seafront! Therefore, we went to the aquarium.
You have to check out this gem on the coast. Inspired by maverick musicians, individual who marked generations and popular sub-cultures, this place is totally unique.
The stairs are very old fashion and a bit narrow but you have a lift, so easy!
No wonder why this cool pad has been the ‘enfant terrible‘ of the Brighton hotel scene since opening in 2000 (Telegraph Review)!
It is full of character and its staff are so nice, you will make some crazy memories, whatever option you go for with or without the kids ?
If you are stopping by Brighton, check out this totally funky place! We really liked it! And let me know if you bump into a rock star too! You never know!
Disclosure: With thanks to the Pelirocco Hotel for inviting us free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
