Bonjour lecteurs! Another month has passed, and we are nearly halfway through the year! Time flies by! But we can’t complain. Even though the weather has been unpredictable at times, I am enjoying Spring. I am always in my happy place in the sun. This way, I can explore, go for a bike ride or a walk, or go to the park with the boys. I know that more adventures await this year. May 2025 was just the start and my new monthly highlights are l’excuse parfaite to remind you to be bold and explore new places as much as you can. There is nothing better than spending time outdoors for the mind.
Bank Holiday Weekend In Kent
We started May 2025 with a beautiful Bank Holiday Weekend. Is there anything better than an extra day off? I don’t think anyone will disagree with me on this one!
It was glorious as we celebrated my mother-in-law’s birthday. Pour l’occasion, I had bought a beautiful silk Max Mara dress and j’adore!
We also made it to Penshurt for it annual Weal of Kent Country Craft Show.
This time, I booked us a night at the Leicester Arms dans le village and it was absolutely stunning! It was such a dream family staycation in Kent with some walks in the woods and some good local food. Just le weekend parfait!
Illness & Frustration
As always, once you are in a good place, life has a way to remind you to be humble. At the end of the day, you can’t always be in control and just un détail can turn everything upside down.
Stanley came home with an eye infection after school. At first, I was not worried as it can happen. I just kept him at home and cancelled a few meetings in town to look after him. But it got scarier when he got worse over the weekend and we could not see a doctor!
I was so worried and quite frankly annoyed with our GP. It was a nightmare to see anyone and it just proved that they didn’t care! Eventually, we managed to see an optician and she confirmed he had a conjunctivitis. So he was to stay at home and just rest. I think the worst in this scenario was the uncertainty and also seeing him so unwell when I couldn’t do anything. Plus, I also had a work trip the following week and I was ready to cancel it and let people down…
Benidorm, Here I come!
Eventually, it got sorted out and I was able to make it to London to fly to… Benidorm! Have you ever been?
I know the media portraits the area as a common party town, but it is so much more than that!
I must say that my trip to Benidorm was totally epic! In between cycling in the montagnes and exploring la ville historique, I also made it to a wine tasting. Plus, we went jet skiing and kayaking for the first time and it was such a blast!
It was all that I needed! After a stressful week at home with an unwell child, trying to meet deadlines and worry, I let my hair down and came back as a new woman. Or maybe not…
Listen To Your Body
After a few days in Spain, I made it back to the UK, only to get food poisoning on the way home (not fun!). Once reunited with my family, it got worst as I caught his eye infection. Mind you, he was fine and full of energy. Classique!
Only don’t ask me why, I hurt my back and I was blocked for a few days! I think at this stage, my body had just taken a toll and just had enough. It wanted me to stop. I am rarely unwell and it’s the worst feeling. I hate with a passion having to ‘take it easy’, but I had no choice.
Lesson learned in May 2025, listen to your body! I was back to work on the Monday and pushing harder than before to meet deadlines only to get even more ill and fall totally apart the following day. So I spent most of the week resting and sleeping.
Pausing My Health Journey
It also means that I went backwards with my exercise. I started working with a new online coach Lewis Williams and he really helped me to get back into shape and regain some physical confidence. It was frustrating to have to pause and not being able to complete my workouts.
And bien sûr, I over-compensated with food as that’s what I tend to do when I am an emotional wreck… Not to worry! I am back on track and stronger than ever! It helps me so much to have someone to guide me. If you also fancy getting some extra support with your well-being, check it out!
Afternoon Tea In Mayfair
After a few days off, life went back to normal. Taking him to school, catching up with emails and trying to meet all my deadlines.
And just like that, it was time for another Bank Holiday Weekend. Eventually, we made it to London, hurrah! I did not have to cancel anymore.
We had the most beautiful time at The Chesterfield in Mayfair. It’s one of our favourites Afternoon Teas in town. You can see I still look tired in the photos, but I am glad we made it.
Plus, it was fab to explore London and visit the Cartoon Museum. It’s always good to walk about in town.
Half-Term in Berkshire
It’s still half-term here as Stanley has 2 weeks off (lucky me!), so we made it to Berkshire. The Royal Berkshire Hotel teamed up with two of our favourites brands, Cocorio and Jaques of London to offer families the new Jaques Play & Stay package.
Pour l’occasion, l’hôtel invited a few content creators to test it and we had the most beautiful time.
Once checked in, we enjoyed the most sumptuous Afternoon Tea before some outdoors activities and playtime for him.
Meanwhile, I sat down in the sun and sipped on a yummy cocktail. It was just pure heaven!
More Adventures
Before heading home, we made it to Thorpe Park to try the Dobble Tea Party ride and a few other rollercoasters. That was so much fun too! I had not been there for over 14 years, so it was quite exciting.
We came home tired, but happy! We did and saw so much! Once home, I did a bit of work and we went for walks everyday.
This weekend, we even made it to some local woods in a village called Aldington and soaked up the sun. It was just pure bliss!
May 2025 – More Adventures Await
May 2025 was just the start to another brilliant summer in the UK. I can’t believe than just in a month, I made it to Spain on a solo trip as well as two weekends away with my boys.
More Adventures Await in 2025. We are yet to book our summer holiday somewhere hot in Europe. But I have the feeling it will be a big one, especially as I am celebrating my 40th! I want something très spécial that I can remember for years to come.
But I am also looking forward to more adventures in Kent, going for walks in places we’ve never been before or cycling onto new paths. Who knows? I am not sure what is next for us, but something is certain… I will never stop exploring!
I hope this post gave you a taste for more adventures and you will have a beautiful summer.
Disclosure: This post might feature some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! This a post where I share some reflections as a mum in the country and in London. I hope it will inspire you to get on more family adventures.
I’ve never been to Northumberland, so I’m really looking forward to exploring this area for the first time in the coming months.

Thank you, I got it at a very good price too.
So busy. I don’t rate bank holidays, because if you go out it’s so busy. My next adventure is going to see Gary Barlow in concert next Saturday.
