Bonjour lecteurs! What is your favourite seaside town in the UK? Or even the most beautiful beach you’ve come across abroad? We love nothing more than an adventure in the UK. En plus, it’s been such a long time since our last visit to la plage. So this week, we made it to the quirkiest seaside resort in the country. Visiting Brighton With Leonardo Hotels was just what we needed to have a break. We even got lucky with the weather when the sun came out!
Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront
Brighton is probably THE most famous seaside resort in the South of England.
So we decided to stay at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront for l’occasion.
It’s right by the seafront and we even got lucky with a sea view room.
The Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront is super easy to access.
It took us less than 2 hours to drive there from Ashford and we parked in The Lanes Car Park. It’s quite pricey in my opinion (£40 for a 24h stay), but you get a discount when you’re guests at the hotel.
The place proved to be very popular as there were many other families. We got to check in without difficultés and we were off to our room on the 4th floor.
Our family room was quite big, but le détail top? It was so nice to enjoy some bubbles while looking at the beachfront promenade.
Our Frenchie Room
Being able to stay in such a hotel overlooking the English Channel was quite impressive and the chocolates and champagne to say bienvenue went down well too.
Stanley was quick to learn more about Brighton and how the pier burnt.
I don’t know why, I always thought that the Palace Pier replaced the first pier. But actually, they coexisted together in their heyday! Did you know?
We got lucky with the weather, but if you don’t like too much wind, you can also relax at the hotel indoor pool that features a sauna and a steam room too.
Kids were allowed until 8.30pm, so it was great to have fun and relax in the water at the end of the day.
An Evening In Brighton
As the sky was clear, we decided to explore the waterfront promenade despite the wind.
Bien sûr, we stopped by some of the rides.
Stanley had a blast while j’ai adoré the vintage vibes with the art galleries, the souvenirs shops and the vintage clothes shops.
We also made it to the fameuse Palace Pier.
You can’t expect a 8 year old to be there and not play a bit at the arcades.
Stanley certainly did enjoy himself and we finished the evening walking around the Lanes, with a good ramen and a yummy Japanese Martini pour le dîner.
After a lovely night sleep (the bed was so COMFY!), we had some petit-déjeuner before exploring la ville.
The British Airways i360
If you like something cultural or checking beautiful arts, then the Royal Pavilion is certainly your place.
But we decided to make it to the British Airways i360 viewing platform instead. It’s THE place to have one of the best views of Brighton and Hove.
It’s basically your equivalent to the London Eye in Brighton. It offers the best views of Brighton, the South Downs and the South coast more generally.
You book a slot and before you get in the pod, you can discover the history of the seaside landmark.
Ready to fly up in the air? You go 450ft high up in the 360°giant glass pod.
Once you are up there, it’s like being in a green house. It gets hot and you can walk around the circular platforms to enjoy the views of the area.
We could even spot the Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront from there. It was not too bad with a glass of Nyetimber Champagne either. Someone had to do it!
Visiting Brighton With Leonardo Hotels
We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the Lanes, but also looking for treasures in the quirky area around North Laine.
But we also made it back to the beach where we threw a few pebbles in the sea before heading home.
The Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront was very convenient as it was littéralement by the beach. C’est la location parfaite for families as the kids can enjoy the pool if it is raining.
Our room was clean and quite big and the sea view was quite impressive!
Et voilà! Another maritime adventure done and dusted for the Frenchie family… What is your fave seaside town in the UK? When was the last time you went to Brighton?
Make it a day out this spring or Summer and rediscover one of the most popular seaside resorts from the Victorian era.
