Bonjour lecteurs! It’s time to reflect and see what June 2024 has been for us. In my last monthly highlights, I share all our days out in the country, but also a couple of escapades in London. More than ever, I made the most of quality time with the boys, grabbing any opportunité for some sunshine. And did I do right… It’s a gloomy and rainy day today! Fingers crossed the sun will be back this weekend. A Life In Between The Country & The City is better with some sunshine…
The Beauty Of Kent
May 2024 ended with a dreamy stay at Tylney Hall. So after such a beautiful experience, I was not ready to take my princesse outfit off, haha.
As we had 2 weeks off for half-term, we enjoyed some sunny days in Kent where I showcased my new summer dresses.
I must admit that I have not worn them much since them. Oh well! It was lovely to relax in the country and go for a little walk.
A Trip To Norfolk
As June 2024 carried on, we made it to Norfolk for a little trip with Lovat Parks Holidays.
And what a delight it was! Have you ever visited this part of England? We’ve already had a mini holiday there in 2016 when Stanley was a baby and I still remember the crab sandwiches in Sheringham! It’s beautiful and so peaceful.
It was like going back into time.
We explored the coastline, learned more about D Day, fed some ducks, visited some National Trust sites…
It was a very relaxing break and I fell in love with the area, so much that I was looking at houses for sale there! One can dream!
We now live in a modern house, but I have no doubt that one day, I will end up in a cottage in the country in the middle of nowhere!
Vauxhall & London
Eventually, Stanley went back to l’école and it was back to routines. How many times do I say this?
The life of a mummy in the country… It’s usually made of work, doing stuff in the house, going for daily walks or bike rides.
Les weekends? They are made for fun! And we certainly did when we stayed at Staybridge Suites in Vauxhall.
We loved exploring South London, going to the Imperial War Museum and soaking in some sunshine at Jubilee Gardens.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Waterloo and London Bridge areas…
But we also made it to the London Cabaret Club to try the oh so fameux Petit Chef. Oh boy, it was certainly something!
London Docklands
In between meetings, work, photoshoots and play dates at the park, we enjoyed some pizza and caught up with Nanny S.
My day to day life can be quite basic and I am always looking for some new adventures.
Are you like moi or are you more of a homey person?
This time, we made it to Aloft London Excel for another weekend in town.
This area has changed so much over the last few years! It was beautiful and I really enjoyed being in Royal Wharf with the boys.
My Rosé Spritz was also good. I keep going on and on about it, but how did I not try this drink before!!? C’est parfait for the summer. You gotta try it.
Usually, I am more of a Bellini kind of gal. It was certainly a good one when we stopped by Spaghetti House in Holborn.
And that pizza was so délicieuse too!
Daily Life In The Country
What else did I do in June 2024? Well, I used more and more Vinted and I am now so addicted to it!
It’s such a good app to declutter and it’s been a nice new project to have!
I am also obsessed with Liane Moriarty’s books. I loved Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. I also watched the TV adaptations for both and it was epic! Thanks to those who recommended it!
Stanley had a haircut; looking so grown up these days…
We’ve also been to the park often with local mums and it was great to bounce idées with other mamans. I realised that motherhood is a constant battle to not worry about them.
Stanley has a beautiful life and he is a very happy little chap, but I am always so worried with his school. I think the British educational system has gone down hill so much over the last few years. I do wonder what our new government will do about that.
To be totalement honnête, I don’t have much hope… Do you?
My Brother In Folkestone
Let’s finish on a note positive! My brother is currently working near Bristol for the rest of the summer (he works all over the world), so we came to stay this weekend.
It was so good to see him. Last time we caught up was autumn 2023 when I came to France, so it was well overdue!
I took him to Folkestone Harbour Arm, it’s so much fun there!
We stopped by to get some sushi at the local Japanese restaurant too. I mean, have you seen this platter!
I LOVE this area, it was gorgeous to walk along the promenade in the sunshine!
A Life In Between The Country & The City
June 2024 was full of fun! From some simple joys in the country to more extravaganza in London… I lived a full life, there is no doubt about it!
This is the way I love it, I don’t want to stop, I want to carry on and have constant adventures, even simple ones!
Take yesterday par exemple, I went on a bike ride in the sun just for an hour and it was glorious!
Workwise, it’s been busy but somehow disappointing. I am still getting used to my new job and finding my marks, working from home.
But I am bursting with idées et projets! There are so many things I want to do and achieve!
The Power of Atomic Habits
We have now officiellement ended the first half of 2024.
And I can’t get this quote from Gandhi out of my mind: ‘The future depends on what you do today‘.
2024 so far has been the perfect reminder than more is not necessarily better. I have been hustling very hard over the last 3 months but I want to be more mindful this summer.
More importantly, I am going to concentrate on small daily actions. They are the building blocks of my future!
What have you achieved and learned from your challenges in the first half of 2024? What will you do more and what will you do less in the next 6 months?
Disclosure: This post might feature some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! This a post where I share some reflections as a mum in the country and London. I hope it will inspire you to get on more family adventures.
