Bonjour lecteurs! Balancing it all is never easy as a maman. Too often, we put our own needs on the side and prioritise our family over our hobbies. I often struggle to make it all work during the school holidays. It’s especially difficile as I work from home, and I feel so guilty. But somehow, we make it work. This year, I decided to invest in my health. Time to up my fitness game, and I have a busy schedule ahead of me each day. Have you decided to be sportier too? 1. Go to bed early and get up early too. It’s crazy all the things that you can achieve by going to bed an hour earlier! I am not saying that you should start The 5 am Club. I don’t think it’s for everybody anyway.  But make some simple switches and you will feel la différence straightaway. After all, we are all guilty of it. Is watching an extra hour of TV before bed or scrolling on your phone plus important than getting in a workout the following morning? This is your choix!

2. Make a plan, write it down, and commit to it. What do you want to achieve? Par exemple, are you considering to run Edinburgh marathon for charity? You need to have a training plan in place so that you can stick to it and schedule it around your family.

3. Carry your running kit and pair of running shoes with you at all times. You can also go to bed in your leggings so that you can’t have any excuse. Make it easy for you to go out and start running. Keep a training pack in your car or have one at work, so you can go for a jog anytime you feel!

4. Do it first thing in the morning. I don’t know about you, but I am very much a morning person. And I find that exercising first thing in the day works better for me. My morning routines are so importantes to me. It set me up right for the rest of the day and I feel so much more energised and productive. I might not go for a run, but I love walking for an hour or so before starting work.

5. Get your children involved so that you turn it into l’experience parfaite to bond with your family! Plus, it’s so good for kids to get some fresh air. I also feel that it can teach them so much about resilience. You will become the best role model to your children!If you’re training for long runs, consider hiring a babysitter or arranging a playdate with other mums. That way, you can have uninterrupted time for your training without worrying about your child’s needs.

6. Choose the right stroller. If you have un bébé or a young toddler, get a  jogging-specific stroller so that you can take your little ones along with you. Plus, you get extra cardio while pushing a loaded stroller along when you run. And you get to do your training while juggling your mummy tasks too. I was not much of a runner back in the days, but I loved taking Stanley for a walk in his buggy twice a day.

7. Join a running club with other mamas. It will help you being accountable and it is so much more fun to run with your best buddy! You can catch up for a chat and you will motivate each other too.

8. Let your partner / spouse support you! You need some ‘me time’. So go for  run and let them look after the children for an hour or so. It’s only healthier for you to do your own things at times. Plus, you other half will bond with the kids. It’s a win-win situation.
