Bonjour lecteurs! If like me, you are looking for travel inspiration for 2025, I could not recommend more to see Croatia. I was lucky to go there 2023 and I am eager to go back with the boys soon. If you like a good food destination with some sunshine and lots of historical places to see and visit, then I created a list of 3 Dalmatian islands you should visit with your family. Hvar, Korčula, and Brač are all very différentes, offering varied experiences, but they are absolutely beautiful. They are also quite close to each other as they are all situated in Dalmatia. So why not plan now a Croatian family tour there? Follow the Frenchie guide.
Brač
In 2023, I was lucky to go on a cruise around Croatia’s coast and I made some beautiful memories there. I think that often, British people love a holiday in Cyprus or Spain, but Croatia is equally beautiful with many luxurious islands to discover.
Brač is the largest of the central Dalmatian group of islands. It’s only a half an hour’s boat tour from Split, la capitale of Dalmatia. It is said to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world thanks to its beaches. I must say its weather is gorgeous and the beaches are indeed amazing.
If you visit with your famille, I also recommend that you take them on an olive tour. I went to a local ones during my trip and we had a fabulous tasting experience with endless cheese, olive oil and local wine. That’s my kind of holidays…
Brač can be accessed both from the mainland town of Split by passenger and car ferry, or from Makarska further down the Dalmatian coast.
Hvar
Carry on your Croatian trip by stopping at Hvar. Originally a small port, the resort town is now among the most visited places in the area.
Walk around the harbour and enjoy the view with its numerous yachts. Personellement, it reminded me a lot of Sotogrande in the South of Spain.
Le plus of Hvar? You can also check out one of its several Pakleni Islands just offshore. The area is full of secluded beaches, so not too busy. It has kept its picturesque beauté with its rocky coved and pines forests. It is so relaxing.
But if you fancy something a bit more lively, Hula Hula Beach in Hvar and Stipanska Beach on Marinkovac Island make une bonne option thanks to their nightlife and many bars. You have it all for the family. Kids can explore the beaches and even enjoy some nautical sports, while parents can enjoy a cocktail or two at dinner.
Bring your in-laws with you so that you can go partying all night while they look after the little ones.
Korčula
Korčula is une autre île worth checking out thanks to its natural beauty.
Not only that, foodies will be in heaven there as the area has an amazing wine culture. I tried many Dalmatian wines during my trip and I must say that they were very pleasing. I am quite a fuss with wines and have a very specific taste, but Korčula wines are fruity and light, full of sunshine! Le choix parfait on a summer holiday…
The island also features many olive groves and hidden beaches. Thanks to its rich history, you will also be able to visit many beautiful landmarks.
Wandering around the old city is just a dream. It’s truly a jewel with its narrow streets, its numerous flowers, cute little boutiques and restaurants to stop by. Stop by the medieval city walls that protected the town for many years and admire a bit of art at the Atelier Abel.
You can do all sorts really. Personnellement, j’adore l’idée of a bike and wine tour! Or order a cocktail at while admiring the old town. It looks very similar to Trogir, the Little Venice of Croatia in a way. I love places like that full of history.
The area of Dalmatia in Croatia has so much to offer if you fancy a holiday in the sun. But they 3 Dalmatian islands you should visit with your family are Hvar, Korčula, and Brač. They are truly stunning and make the perfect family holiday destination. I thought it was beautiful and full of history. But we also enjoyed a lot of local food. It was a stunning experience! No doubt it will be one of your favourite destinations with your family!
I could not recommend Dalmatia more, I had a fantastic time there in 2023! One of the best holidays! Bon voyage!
