Bonjour lecteurs! No doubt that many of us will opt for a UK holiday this year! If you are looking for inspiration, may I suggest Bournemouth? The famous Bristol-born Butcombe Brewing Company has recently added The Pavilion Arms among its pubs and pub hotels. We visited the refurbished place last week and we had such a blisteringly time! (Yes, too much sun – I know, crazy!)
The Pavilion Arms in Bournemouth
The Pavilion Arms in Bournemouth is a newly refurbished pub that also offers 10 boutique bedrooms.
Only 15 minutes walk from Bournemouth, it makes the perfect stop if you fancy a UK holiday in the most famous seaside resort of Dorset!
Formerly known as the Dean Park Inn, the pub hotel has been totally redecorated and added to the list of beautiful shabby chic Butcombe Brewing Company pubs.
En plus, you can enjoy some savoury award-winning food in its restaurant. Et bien sûr a cheeky Butcombe beer or two! Pourquoi pas?
Our Arrival
The hotel pub was super easy to find on Wimborne Road. It’s literally one of those big old fashion British streets.
And ideally located as you can walk to the town centre and also the famous Bournemouth Beach!
As soon as you arrive, you have a large car park.
The tone was set straight away with lovely décor. Be prepared for some warm colours and many frames based on the old days in the seaside resort.
It feels very vintage, yet very charming!
The hotel has many beautiful features such as a nice terrace to enjoy a drink in the sun, but also some stunning stained glass windows. I was back in the 20s, c’est très charmant ?
Our Family Bedroom
The hotel has 10 boutique bedrooms for its guests and we got a family room, with the main bed and a sofa bed for Baba.
Very spacious and also lovely decorated! I LOVED the little touches: Baba got spoiled with a little teddy and some stickers. We had some homemade truffles and some drinks waiting for us in the minibar.
The vintage radio, the lamps, but also the whole colour theme… All very pretty!
Baba was quick to make himself comfy in our bed and watched some cartoons.
You can connect to your own Netflix or Amazon accounts so you can catch up on your fave shows!
I also really liked the bar area/wardrobe corner with a mirror. It was a cute little space.
The Bathroom
The bathroom did not have any bath, but a large shower. The green tiles theme was so beautiful and refreshing!
With the extra green touches of the plants and the delicious Bramley toiletries, it was just parfait!
Overall it was exceptionally clean and stylish, yet idéal for families!
Top mark for the mirror and a lot of space to put all my beauty products! I never travel light!
We also had some robes available. Everything was there to feel comfy and relaxed!
The ambience of the Hotel
We were quick to visit the pub.
The whole restaurant and bar area is decorated with the same vintage vibes. Expect some warm and welcoming colours and many frames from another decade. It makes you feel like you are a bit back in time!
It is simply lovely!
The restaurant is also very spacious and the tables are well spaced between each other. So you can actually have some privacy!
Dinner
We had dinner on our first night and here again, the Pavilion Arms did not disappoint!
The place was rather busy, people were on the terrace outside, playing cards. Dogs were resting on the floor. A real holiday feeling!
We had our food indoors and quel délice! The restaurant prides itself to use locally sourced ingredients to bring you some of the best British pub classics!
I love that the pub is communicating this to its customers. It is always good to see a place proud and eager to support the local area and its businesses!
Given the location, you can enjoy some fresh fish like Grumpy.
Or like moi, go for a naughty (but oh so yummy) burger!
Top mark for the kids’ menu. Baba ordered fish and chips and we had fresh fish aussi for him!
Portions were sufficient and we also ordered some cheeky desserts.
No need to say that the dark chocolate délice was a dream!
The supper menu is varied and has some of the classics we love. But you can also go for a roast dinner if you visit at the weekends.
Breakfast
After a lovely day in the sun and some yummy food, we were quick to go to bed!
The breakfast the day after was just as impressive as our evening meal.
We had a lie-in, so the place was really quiet. Berry Smoothie for moi, with Eggs Florentine.
Baba enjoyed a cheeky croissant and some scrambled eggs.
All prepared freshly from the kitchen and you can even see the cooks in action. C’est cool!
I must also mention that all the staff was lovely and eager to help! We had once more, a lovely time.
