Bonjour lecteurs! In the mood for a cheeky post today! In case you have not noticed, I am indeed French! ? Even if Grumpy regularly points out that I am turning more into an English lady somehow somewhere… Would it be because I have somehow un peu of Girl Power or sharing all about our fave Kent places? Time to debunk some of the strongest Stereotypes About French Women! True or False? I tell you all!
- French Women Are Stylish
Well, I don’t know if you can all call us stylish. But one thing is for sure, all my Frenchie girlfriends LOVE fashion!
And we might not all wear a béret (I don’t even own one!). Or even a pair of jeans, with Converse shoes, a tee and a blazer like Inés de La Fressange. But we all have a look we like to stick to!
And non, we don’t all wear black or Breton tops while we ride our bike with a garlic necklace! Mind you, I love a bit of stripe in my wardrobe and Baba too!
2. French Women Don’t Shave
As the good weather is back and I wanted to wear a nice dress on the school pick up yesterday, you will be pleased to hear that indeed, my dear body is shaved and smooth as we speak…
Come on, I am sure in the winter, I am not the only one hiding my hairy legs behind a pair of leggings! ?
3. The Matching Underwear Obsession
Guilty as charged! I even buy exclusivement a certain set of colours so that it matches my wardrobe!
But then if you ever come across a brand such as Maison Lejaby, I dare you! You will never be able to want some lingerie from anywhere else. It is too délicate and simply gorgeous…
And who could say no to a bit of oh la la in that department!? Are you in for a bit of Frenchie sexiness?
4. L’art Des Affaires
Or the art of affairs… Every president have pretty much done it non? ?
Blame it on Frenchie people being passionate and romantic… We love a bit of fun and action too! Otherwise, life would be boring and a bit dull!
Mind you, I am a bit plus old fashioned! I am very faithful. Well… I have not had many occasions either! Only being a bit cheeky sharing bra photos on my Instagram, but it’s just being a bit of a teaser, non?
5. Do You Eat Frogs?
Yuk! I have never ever done so!
However, you can always tempt me (and Baba!) for a bit of smelly cheese or a yummy pain au chocolat.
We also love criossants, brioche, madeleines… The list is too long! But you get l’idée!
6. Sunbathing In Style
Not sure where this one comes from but many people think French women love sunbathing topless. What? Quoi?!
I have never encountered any charming breast of my fellow Frenchie friends. So nope, sorry to disappoint! We can also be very private on that matter. Even if we can be sometimes a bit loud for sure!
7. It’s Gotta Be Merlot!
Are you not fussy when it’s about wine? I might be a tiny bit nationalist on that matter… Or a ‘pain in the bum’ as Grumpy Boyfriend would put it bluntly!
I love drinking French Merlot when we are out. And doesn’t he dare to buy anything else if we fancy a drink at the weekend… It’s not worth the headache so my other half would not make this erreur fatale!
Or a bit of Pinot Grigio in the Summer maybe…
8. French Women Smoke to Stay Slim
I used to have a cigarette and a black coffee for breakfast when I was young and pretty. It even used to be a running joke with my flatmates…
Now times have changed, I have a smoothie! I realised it was better for my skin! ?
9. French Ladies Don’t Get Fat
I am the living evidence this one is a cliché and nothing else!!! Or an idée that I would love to be a reality at times.
More seriously though, I think French women tend to have good control when it is about food.
And also, I think portions can be different than in the UK. But customs are changing too and you will find many French ladies happy to have some fast food!
10. French Women Are Intellectuals
Not always! Like any other countries, we have a bit of both.
I don’t read Proust or Simone De Beauvoir every day! I love a bit of chick-lit too! And lately, I’ve happily been avoiding the news. Trop dépressant!
11. The Gingham Obsession
Oui! I think we all love thinking we have a bit of Brigitte Bardot in us, non? Such a lovely print for the Summer!
Even if some might call my fave dress a tablecloth. Indeed, Grumpy Boyfriend is a fashion expert, innit!?
12. You Can Never Say an ‘R’ Like Moi
Many find a French accent sexy. I think the truth is that you, Brits are a bit jealous. Indeed, you will never master the art of rolling your ‘R’ à la Frenchie.
Truth, there are still British sounds I sometimes struggle to master, especially if I had too many glasses of Merlot…
13. French Versus Parisian
Last but not least, do not confuse a French woman with a Parisian lady. Those are two very différentes species.
No offence to the Parisian one, I think I am a bit quirkier than that and way less full of myself. Mind you, the French are quite confident and can be at times really cocky.
I loved watching Emily in Paris and all the outrageous clichés it used. But I wish my 20s were that fabulous! Not quite! Paris is indeed very attractive in many ways. But not that colourful always!
