Bonjour lecteurs! I feel so lucky to live in Kent, the fameux Garden of England. We are truly surrounded by beautiful nature and stunning locations to visit. One of our faves is definitely the iconic Hever Castle. We actually nearly bought a house close to the très beau château back in 2018. But that’s another histoire for another time! For now, let me share with you our Easter Break At Hever Castle’s Bed and Breakfast. And more coming up on Instagram too soon, so check it out!
Hever Castle
Hever Castle is famous for being the childhood home of Anne Boleyn.
Located in the charming village of Hever, near Edenbridge, it is probably one of the most visited places in the UK.
Indeed, the country house built in the 13th century only 30 miles south-east from London is a true gem!
It makes the perfect family day out, especially now with all the Easter fun activities!
We love exploring its award-winning gardens as well as the moated castle.
But did you know you could even stay at Hever Castle’s Bed and Breakfast?
Stay at Hever Castle’s Bed and Breakfast
The gorgeous Hever Castle Luxury Bed and Breakfast offers 28 five-star luxury bedrooms which are truly full of charm.
We stayed there back in 2019 over for Halloween and it was fabuleux.
En plus, when you book a stay at Hever Castle’s Bed and Breakfast, you get to enjoy complimentary access to the Castle and Gardens.
You stay in a stunning accommodation in the Astor Wing built onto Hever Castle in the 1900s by the Astor family. You better expect some extraordinary features and more!
Our Deluxe Room
As soon as we arrived, we were in for a treat with a personal mini-tour of the premises.
We checked in after 3 pm and it still gave us plenty of time to enjoy the park afterward. The Willow room was a dream come true.
It was so charming with its beautiful wallpaper and rich fabrics.
Once you are in, the antique furnishing is breathtaking.
Et quel espace! Pass the entrance, you have a lot of storage on the left and a modern bathroom on the right. With heated floor s’il-vous-plaît...
The room was made of a huge four-poster bed and a sofa bed for Stanley.
It was so luminous.
I may have fallen in love with special petites touches such as the dressing table or le miroir!
And with a stunning view of the Gardens!
Exploring the Grounds In The Late Afternoon
Un avantage to stay at Hever Castle’s Bed and Breakfast is that you get access to the grounds after closing time and the chance to be first into the castle when it opens in the morning.
We loved visiting the place in the late afternoon.
It was so much quieter than usual and it felt rather magical to get the park just for ourselves, or kind of!
We loved walking in the Italian Garden and near the Lake.
It was so peaceful and both nature and wildlife made sure to entertain us!
Easter Fun!
We obviously took part in the carrot trail.
Stanley was très excité to look for the carottes colorées.
Don’t forget to share your pics tagging #goldencarrot and @hever_castle and you are in to win some Easter treats!
But we also stopped by the Acorn Dell Play area. It’s such a huge space.
Grab a cup of coffee, sit down and let them have fun for hours!
Feeling a bit more adventurous? Explore the Tudor Towers adventure playground.
It is really fun and interactive. We danced to the medieval music in the wooden castle and I taught Stanley a thing or two about being a gentleman in the old days 😊
Back To Bed & Breakfast
We literally left the grounds at closing time. It was magical to have the place to ourselves!
The evening carried on with a dinner at the local pub King Henry VIII, before walking back to Hever Castle’s Bed and Breakfast.
We ordered some drinks and relaxed in the back garden for a bit.
It was so beautiful in the evening lights.
The flowers and la fountaine made it truly magical. It was so quiet.
Eventually, we came back inside to the Billiards Room. The boys had a game while I sipped my Merlot by the fireplace.
Grandiose is not strong enough to describe the experience!
Full English Breakfast
The following day started en beauté with a super yummy Full English Breakfast: pancakes for him and Eggs Royale pour moi!
You get to enjoy some delicious food while witnessing the grounds waking up slowly.
Once more, the service was impeccable and very family-friendly.
We stopped by the Astor Wing Lounge to read the papers and relax un peu.
But it was time to explore the gardens encore!
Beautiful Hever Castle
Hever Castle truly has it all. You have so many spaces to see and explore: all unique and magical.
We walked into the gardens and stopped by to admire the wildlife. The ducks and geese were happy to be admired.
The flowers and trees were in blooms.
Bien sûr, we stopped by the daffodils and took it all in.
It’s truly a stunning location and you have so much to do! Go to the maze or back to the playground. Bring a picnic and relax in the sun.
Le Château
You get a complimentary visit to the château when you stay at Hever Castle’s Bed & Breakfast.
I recommend getting an audio guide. It makes the experience so much more interesting.
You get to hear some real good anecdotes in each room.
Stanley loved it and was telling me facts he had just heard.
Stop by the windows during your visit and admire the gardens too.
And you can also get some beautiful views of the Lake or even the Astor Wing.
Mon Petit Prince…
My Frenchie Little Prince LOVED another adventure at Hever Castle.
Once more, it was full of fun and créativité. We stopped by the mini army museum just next to the entrance.
And we enjoyed some crafts. He made his very own crown with plenty of jewels.
Nothing less for a true king!
