Located in the heart of London in the vibrant part of Southbank, the independent hotel is a beautiful and modern spot for you and your family to visit la capitale with style.

Like The Dixon in Tower Bridge, l’hôtel is part of the Autograph Collection and you are truly in for something!

It’s la place parfaite with its eclectic artworks and beautiful service in between London Blackfriars and London Bridge.

Our Arrival

At the end of February, we checked in one of the 161 residential style bedrooms at Bankside Hotel and we were certainly impressed!

We arrived in the South Bank in the rain and as soon as we were out of the taxi, the staff at Bankside Hotel made sure we were feeling like at home.

The doorman helped us with our luggage, and we were greeted with a glass of wine while checking in. Now, that’s what I call an excellent start!

L’Atmosphère

I knew we were going to be in for a treat with Bankside Hotel, but it certainly exceeded my expectations.

First of all, the hotel is bigger than what I expected. Imaginez, over 160 room with 7 suites, as well as a beautiful restaurant, a mezzanine and many meeting rooms and a gym.

I would describe Bankside Hotel as luxurious and welcoming thanks to its choice or arts and furniture. It’s classy, a bit vintage and yet very branché or trendy as we say.

But at the same time, it’s chic and modern with a residential feel to it.

Our Family Room

We made it to the 5th floor to our room for some beautiful views of the South Bank by night.

And quelle surprise! Stanley was greeted with a board for him to doodle and paint.

I made myself comfortable on the king-sized bed, watching Alexander Armstrong on TV. Meanwhile, mon petit artiste painted his very own Shard. What do you think?

What not to love!? The room was spacious and well decorated. I mean, the photography right above our bed was so cool!

Don’t even get me started on the bathroom. I love its modern style and relaxing colours.

Bankside Hotel is truly beautiful thanks to a carefully curated décor. It actually reminded me a lot of The Dixon in Tower Bridge where we stayed a couple of years ago for my birthday.

Dîner at the Art Yard Bar & Kitchen

Eat, drink, hang out… Everything is possible at Bankside Hotel with the Art Yard Bar & Kitchen.

The bar and restaurant is certainly a trendy spot in the area thanks to its collection of arts, especially when you can see regular exhibitions there.

Once more, the food did not disappoint with a selection of gnocchi and salmon.

The portions were great and the service was excellent.

Stanley certainly enjoyed his salmon with some chips and greens.

I could not recommend dining here enough. It was truly beautiful; the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant makes it a very family-friendly location. We truly had a lovely evening with the music and the general ambience.

Exploring More Bankside Hotel

After a good night sleep (the mattress was so comfy!), we made it back to the Art Yard Bar & Kitchen for a full breakfast.

Think pain au chocolat, eggs and everything else! You can actually see the chef preparing your food, so that’s quite cool.

We also stopped by the exhibition room and explored further the terrace and the mezzanine.

Even better! You can refill and refresh using the water stations on every floor, serving still and fizzy water. Le détail qui fait la différence!

Visiting The Young V&A Museum

We were quick to explore London. Bien sûr, Bankside Hotel is near some of the best London attractions like the Tate Modern, Bankside Walk, the Shakespeare Globe and so much more.

No way you would get bored! It’s fascinating to walk around the area and see how fast it’s changing and developing. It’s actually one of my fave areas in the capital.

Such a huge space for children to walk around and discover centuries of applied arts in the East End of London.

A Walk in Bankside

We made it back to Bankside Hotel just before lunch. And after another drink à la réception, we started walking along the river, stopping by Borough Market and passing by the BFI.

We just love walking on Bankside and observe the world. It’s such a vibrant area. We stopped by to get some pizza and off we went home via Waterloo East.

I love this hotel!! It has so much character and flair. I think I can spend a day just admiring its eclectic decor. I’ve been around Bankside a lot and I must have walked past this hotel without realising. It is such a beautiful location with Southbank round the corner and the foodie district of Bermondsey not far away. I also love a hotel that makes the kids feel welcomed too .
