Bonjour lecteurs! You know it by now, I love nothing more than an adventure with my boys. Having said that, I never like packing light. C’est l’opposé with me as I want to have all my stuff: many pairs of shoes, dresses for all occasion, casual wear for walking etc. If like moi, you sometimes struggle to pack everything needed for a trip, or if you have several children, there can be a lot to think about. So here are my best tips on packing essentials for your next family adventure. Wherever you’re going, on a cruise or on a more active holiday, here is everything you need to pack with you.
Clothing
Clothes will take up most of the space in the luggage. So I would stick to one outfit for each family member per day. But you might want to pack some extra outfits for little ones if they get messy.
To be organisé, assign each family member a particular set of packing cubes in order to make it easy to locate clothing. I also like to spread clothes for each family member in different luggages, just in case one gets lost.
Cruises are so populaires nowadays and they actually are une bonne option to pack light. There are many shops where you can purchase any items, should you run out of something. Plus, so many cruise lines have many stops, so more options for shopping!
Footwear
Footwear can also take a lot of space, so be stratégique and wear your biggest pair while travelling.
I would take as many flats and sandals as possible as they are easier to pack.
For the kids, stick to one pair of shoes each and maybe a pair of flipflops each if you go to the beach.
Outdoor Clothing
No matter where you’re going, I would always pack some outdoor clothing. Wear a jacket or a jumper even when you go on a hot holiday.
Evenings can be chilly at the resorts and they are a great way to layer up. Personnellement, I like many pieces from Uniqlo as they are so versatile and you can keep warm at all times.
I would also pack plenty of sunscreen and other products like insect repellent as they are quite expensive at the airport.
It’s better to have more than not enough!
Medical supplies
Some people consider carrying a first-aid kit at all times to be sure. It’s a good precaution to take just so that you are on the safe side.
You never know and it can happen so quickly with kids. I would always travel with some plasters and Sudocrem as a minimum.
And bien sûr, I always stock up on paracetamol and other medical supplies.
I like to pack a lot of toiletries, but they can be quite heavy so travel-sized versions are une bonne idée to save space in your luggage.
Plus, most hotels provide toilet kits, so if you are not fussy about a particular brand, you can leave them at home.
