We are thinking about going to Greece in 2024. So, I am already searching for some activités to do with Stanley! Thinking alike but pas sûre one hundred percent yet? Here are for you the Best Places to See in Kefalonia With Kids.
Kefalonia With Kids
Kefalonia has it all to offer for you to enjoy some good vacances en famille.
The island située in the Ionian Sea, on the west of mainland Greece was brought to my attention by some friends. And since then, I have been dreaming of its white sand beaches.
Plus it’s super easy to find some awesome family villas in Kefalonia to accommodate all your needs. Personnellement, I would love to stay in a colourful villa among some of the most Instagrammable pastel villages in the mountains.
Oh and I know where to find the most beautiful Kefalonian villas with pools, so that you get a is a blissful experience for both the body and soul.
Now that I have sorted out your accommodation, here are some of the must-see destinations for family travel in Kefalonia.
Myrtos Beach
Head to the beach for some fun activities in the sun. I don’t know about you, but Stanley likes nothing more than splashing about in the sea and making sandcastles with other children.
This is such an easy one to do. No planning really! Put on your best bikini and savour a cocktail with a good book while the children have fun in the sun.
On the northern coast, Myrtos is the most famous beach. It has some of the nicest viewpoints.
Do not miss Assos either for some spectacular views of over 300 meters above sea level! Pretty impressive…
Petani Beach
Petani is also a super popular plage with a mix of sand and rocky cliffs.
Those two came up in my recherche and I must say that I am sold! It looks so relaxing!
But Kefalonia offers over 50 plages, so you have une large varité of choices! Feeling more adventurous than relaxing?
The island has it all for you. From windsurfing to kayaking, there are so many choices to get your family active in Kefalonia!
Go Hiking In the Countryside
La région is blessed with incredible natural beauty and you will find beaucoup de hiking routes for you to explore.
Whatever your fitness level, going for a walk outdoors with your kids is l’activité parfaite to keep fit and explore at the same time.
In Kefalonia, you will get to enjoy some stunning scenery and there are plenty of easy hikes suitable for younger children.
Myrtos Beach is again one of the most popular destinations.
Ainos National Park
But Ainos National Park is supposed to be stunning!
It stretches to over 3,000 hectares and the children could get to learn so much about the fauna and flora.
It became a National Park in 1962 and is one of the most precious reserves on the island.
Indeed, it’s home to many rare plants and animals and you can even catch sight of the wild ponies who stay in the mountains most of the year.
En plus, the hike to the top of Mount Ainos is one of the most popular trails as it offers some stunning views of the surrounding areas. Parfait to get some family exercise but you can also drive up there.
Water Fun Activities
Do you prefer water fun? Then check out some of the waterparks on the island.
I discovered Lassi Waterpark and it truly looks like a place parfaite for a day of fun in the water!
Or you can go fishing or swimming in one of the crystal-clear cove. The island is littéralement surrounded by crystal-clear waters.
En plus, it would make such an experience différente for your children to talk about at school.
Visit The Capital
The capital of Kefalonia is called Argostoli. I don’t know about you, but I always want to visit the main town when we are abroad.
There are lots of shops and restaurants to explore. And if you like visiting a musée to learn more about your location’s history, I would probably see Corgialenios Istoriko kai Laografiko Mouseio.
The museum has for aims to share the cultural heritage and tradition of Kefalonia. It sounds like a cute little gem.
Apparently, it is full of quirky objects: costumes, traditional craftworks, but also paintings and photographs of Kefalonia from before the earthquake of 1953.
Pretend To Be A Caveman
Stanley is actually learning about the Stone Age at the minute in Year 3.
So I can easily imagine he would be fasciné to explore and visit a cave!
I am not sure you will see many cavemen there, but Melissani Cave seems like a bonne option.
You basically go on a 15-minute boat ride through the caverns, while learning more about geological and historical finds. I would love to go there and pretend to be a James Bond girl à la Ursula Andress. Can’t you see I would totally be in mon élément?! 😀

What a lovely place to visit and lots to see and do, and of course the lovely weather, although my daughter has just returned from Zante and did have a couple of impressive thunderstorms
I have never experienced the rather enticing Kefalonia………yet!
We loved the Greek islands when our kids were little, because the greeks love children and are so friendly.
Looks fab would love to go!
Oh wow. Now that are some stunning photos. Still can’t believe I haven’t visited Greece yet. It looks super relaxing with all it’s glorious sandy beaches and the place is beautiful it’s almost surreal. But I love how there is more to it than beaches but lots of places you can explore like the caves and the national park. I love hiking too.
I really need to start looking to Greece, maybe during Black Friday.
I’ve always wanted to take my kids to Greece but was waiting for the right age where they can withstand a longer flight time without getting everyone’s attention and people asking to move away from us. I love how it is a good balance of relaxing things to do and adventure. Hopefully we will be able to go soon as soon as we have the budget to
