Bonjour lecteurs! The summer might not be in full swing, but the school holidays are l’excuse parfaite to explore further the UK and all the stunning areas it has to offer. We love living in Kent, but equally we also enjoy a little escapade in another county. We recently stopped by Buckinghamshire for a dose of football, relaxation and lots of walking! Let me show you now our Family Stay at The Bedford Arms With Young’s Rooms.
The Bedford Arms In Chenies
Direction Chenies where we stayed one night at the Bedford Arms for an overnight stay with Young’s Rooms.
Right on the border of Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, le pub historique also offers some beautiful rooms for you to stay and enjoy the best that the UK has to offer.
With its 16 cosy bedrooms decorated with a country chic vibes, you will be charmed.
Our Arrival
The Bedforms Arms dates back to the 15th-century and it certainly made an impression as soon as we arrived.
The original building has it all to like. It’s a classic country chic inn with lots of tables outside for you to enjoy some drinks and food in the sunshine.
As it was about to rain, we were quick to take cover and order a summery drink: une bière for him and a Hugo Spritz for moi. Have you ever tried it? It’s so refreshing!
L’Atmosphère
Anyway, it was all about the EURO 24 and the pub was busy with locals enjoying food, getting ready for the big game.
As for the décor, it has everything you would expect from a village inn from it original fireplace to the stained glass.
Add some cute touches with flowers and some rustic furniture for un look très country chic et voilà!
That’s my kind of places! We enjoyed sitting and taking it all, with a good book and our drinks.
Other Facilities
While Grumpy Boyfriend enjoyed the football and got chatting with the locals, we decided to explore the pub a bit more.
We certainly liked all the extra space outside where we played hide and seek and got some snacks.
There is also a largen garden on the side of the main building. Surrounded by all sorts of flowers, it’s like a mini meadow out there and it’s truly beautiful! Once more, j’adore!
And if you are not far from the area, you can also hire a room at the back for private parties. There was an event taking place and it certainly looked delightful with all les décorations.
Our Room at the Bedford Arms
Our room was equally charming with some gorgeous petites touches such as the pub newspaper or the paintings.
We also loved the view in the back field, that was certainly calm and relaxing. If you want a weekend to chill and switch off, this is the place!
The design is beautiful with country chic vibes for you to feel comfy. Such a welcoming space!
We made ourselves comfy straight away with books and games!
Walks In the Country
But soon, the country was calling me! So I explored le village while the boys watched the football.
There is several public paths right behind the Bedford Arms, so that was l’excuse parfaite to get some exercise!
Stanley actually joined me for another adventure after le dîner. We went into the wood for a beautiful walk, just the 2 of us.
We were definitely ready for bed after that!
Le Petit-Déjeuner
Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favour and we woke up to another rainy summer day. Not to worry!
We headed to the main room for breakfast and I must say that l’atmosphère of the pub made up for the bad weather.
We both enjoyed some yummy omelettes, with cheese for me and bacon for him.
On top of ordering a cooked breakfast, you can also help yourself from the buffet. With some croissants and fruit, we were ready for the day!
We drove a bit further in the village to explore more but it was pouring down, so we decided to head home earlier. However, you are only 15 minutes drive away from the famous Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour London so you can stop by with the children.
The Bedford Arms – Le Verdict
The Bedford Arms certainly makes a charming option if you wanted to explore Buckinghamshire or Hertfordshire.
We love the original 15th century pub and its features. It’s like being in a chic country inn thanks to its décor.
Being in the country and going for walks was also a plus. Indeed, the village of Chenies where the pub with rooms is located is absolutely gorgeous.
Whatever you are after, some drinks, a pub lunch or a night in the country, you will certainly be charmed and come home relaxed and maybe dreaming of a life in the country…
