We first visited la région a decade ago and I couldn’t wait to bring Stanley back to experience it. The Seaside Sandy Beach Hotel, a true gem from the Seaside Collection, delivers the high-end resort feel without the eye-watering price tag. Here is my honest Seaside Sandy Beach Hotel Review… and what a fantastic way to kick off the summer holidays!
Seaside Sandy Beach Hotel – Introduction
Let’s be honnête, I love a staying in a boujee hotel when I travel solo. But the expectations are différentes on a family vacation. Think kids club, a walkable distance to the beach and a pool to splash about.
The Seaside Sandy Beach has it all for a beautiful family summer break. The 4 star hotel only 200 meters from La Playa del Inglés is a stylish resort with a Moroccan décor.
Featuring over 250 rooms, the all-inclusive resort gives boutique hotel vibes to fall in love with.
L’Atmosphère
As soon as we arrived, I was impressed with the warm welcome at la réception and the décor. J’adore the Moorish-influenced architecture mixed with the amenities.
Sit by the lounge and relax with a cocktail, overlooking the pool.
Or go up to the spa for a cheeky sauna and steam room session. Just note though that there is a nudist section, so it’s adults only.
Actually I did not mind, as it meant extra ‘me time’ up there while Grumpy Boyfriend was looking after our dear cherubin…
We landed late at night and our room being on the top floor, we were really wowed by the pool view. How cool is la piscine with the seahorse right in the middle? You might have seen this logo on the The Riverside Luxury Cruises, which is part of the same hospitality group.
Our Junior Suite
The hotel booked us in a junior suite with plenty of space (33 m²).
Imaginez, a king size bed with a small living area and sofa (turned into a bed for Stanley). But it also featured a family bathroom with both a bath and a shower. Parfait to have the choice!
L’autre plus? There was even a work space with a desk and a safe (you need to pay extra). Overall, we had so much room just for the three of us and, we really appreciated the extra comfort.
The Pool at the Seaside Sandy Beach
I was a bit worried that the pool at the Seaside Sandy Beach would be a bit small. But we always founds a space and it never felt overcrowded. You will need to get in early though if you want a sunbed right by the pool.
But you have plenty of extra spaces on the elevated surface and you can also go to the beach. The nearest one is 200m walk.
Stanley had an absolute blast all week. Bien sûr, he was quick to make new friends, meaning I could chill while he was busy faffing around with other kids.
The curved-shape pool is rather nice, especially seen from above. Un autre plus? There are 2 jacuzzi sections in the main pool for you to relax with style, as well as a paddle pool and a kids pool.
Other Facilities
As I already mentioned it, the hotel features many amenities: a tennis courts, a kids club and a games room with darts and other activities.
There is also a gym on the top floor with treadmills, but I preferred stopping by the spa.
If you fancy a cardio session, there is another sports room with weights on the ground floor.
The Food at the Seaside Sandy Beach
I know that an all-inclusive hotel might not be for everyone. But we were very impressed with the food at the Seaside Sandy Beach.
Sure, the kids can have a beige dinner with the classic pasta and fries.
But le restaurant featured a themed buffet every night, alongside genuine local specialties.
Par exemple, Stanley tried churros for breakfast and I thoroughly enjoyed the French night with goat cheese and quiches.
Note that if you go half-board, you will have to pay extra for your drinks each night. You can also order some food at the pool bar for lunch.
We were pretty full with our petit-déjeuner. There was so much food to go by! From pastries, to oatmeal and plenty of fruit, you could even get a cooked breakfast.
Family Activities Around Maspalomas
First stop was La Playa del Inglés. After all the English Beach was only a few minutes walk, so very handy to find a good bar to watch the World Cup. It was quite magical in the early evening, but it is rammed in the day time.
You can also rent a car and explore the South of the island. Puerto de Mogán is a must-see! The picturesque coastal resort is absolutely stunning. No wonder why it is nicknamed “The Venice of the Canaries”. It reminded me a bit of Trogir in Croatia. The bougainvillea-draped streets are enchanting and the beach there is also beautiful.
If you fancy a walk in the sunshine, stop by the fameuses Maspalomas Dunes. It’s like being on a Star Wars movie set. Bear in mind, wear some closed shoes. I wore open shoes so I could feel the sand burning my feet. But quel spectacle!
We also went to Aqualand Maspalomas. Stanley loved going on the rides at the water park, especially the wave pool. But quite frankly, it’s overpriced and old…You can book online for 35€ per person instead of 41€. But the extra costs are exorbitant! 6€ for the car park, 8€ for a tiny locker and they even charge you for the sunbeds! 6€ on average, but 8€ in the kids area. The food is expensive too and not tasty at all. We went there over 10 years ago and nothing changed. It was actually quite dirty. Worth checking another location.
Seaside Sandy Beach Hotel Review – Le Verdict
It was my second time in Gran Canaria and we truly had a tremendous time at The Seaside Sandy Beach Hotel.
If you want a welcoming stay with upscale vibes that doesn’t feel over the top or break the bank, c’est la place parfaite for a relaxing holiday on the island! It ticks all the boxes with every family essential on top of a spa and being close to the beach.
The food was above your usual all-inclusive buffet, mixing well cuisine internationale and authentical local delicacies. The staff was always so friendly and our room was spacious and comfortable. Plus we had epic fun at the pool!
Truly a magical summer holiday, where we all enjoyed ourselves, relaxed and tanned nicely. The Seaside Sandy Beach Hotel is a little gem if you are looking for a mid-to-upper tier resort.
