A Seaside Stay At Rocksalt Folkestone

Bonjour lecteurs! How is 2025 going for you so far? I hope you had a great start to the new year and you are in a good place to meet whatever dreams of yours. Personnellement, I am all about adventures and fun days out with the boys. I am lucky enough to work for myself, so we can always shoot off somewhere if I fancy a day off. That’s exactly what we did to start the year. I am not a big fan of the Twixmas season and I am always eager to go out and explore rather than staying at home. Not easy in Winter when it’s cold and miserable. But we got lucky for our fabulous Seaside Stay At Rocksalt Folkestone.

Rocksalt Folkestone

Have you ever been to the Kentish coast? We love Folkestone, especially in the summer as it’s only 20 min drive from us.

Rocksalt Folkestone is fameux in town for its restaurant overlooking the harbour. We’ve been many times as we love its panoramic views and its delicious dishes.

En plus, the team sources its ingredients locally, so you can be sure to get the best that Kent has to offer. I always go for a bit of sparkling from Gusbourne with some fish.

The bar on the first floor is also a hit and proves to be très populaire in the festive season.

Even better, you can enjoy a gourmet escape to the seaside for only £250. This fab offer only available until March 2025, will include 1 night overstay, 1 glass of sparkling wine with 6 oysters at Rocksalt bar, £60 per person at the restaurant and a petit-déjeuner délicieux on the following morning.

We tested it and we LOVED it! It was such a relaxing mini break just before going back to school!

Our Family Room

Following a short drive, we checked in our family room. After a warm welcome, we got to discover a lovely space with some maritime vibes.

Stanley was well excited to have a room with a seaside view (he took his telescope for the occasion…), while I loved the subdued atmosphère of our room with the light lamps and le décor naturel.

The space was compact, but we had all we needed and it looks cosy and welcoming thanks to a mix of touches modernes and the more traditional bits.

After a lovely walk on the seafront, we made it back there for a cheeky cocktail or two.

The whole place is très élégante and yet, family-friendly too. He played with some Lego and we chatted about 2025.

But if you are kids-free and fancy something a bit more grown-up, go for the oysters and a good bottle from a local vineyards, I dare you…

Au menu, I tried the one and only Folkestone brown crab paté while Grumpy enjoyed some scallops. Bien sûr, I had to test them too as I am une professionelle for the purpose of this review, right?😝 OMG! I will have this next time!

To make it even a better night, I went for un classique fish & chips. You can’t make more British than this and it certainly did not disappoint either!

With an excellent service, we had a lovely time. The cherry on top? His ‘build your own’ burger’. I mean, he has a hard life! And to think this is on the kids’ menu! Great portions too!

All you need to do is sit down and enjoy your freshly made breakfast while overlooking at the harbour and the sea. There is nothing better than that, especially on a crispy cold winter day.

It’s just magique! Well, the pancakes were too actually 😉I don’t think I ever had such fluffy and light ones! He went for the savoury version with some extra bacon and it went down well too.

It was just beautiful to unwind and take it all in. J’adore this part of Folkestone.
