Bonjour lecteurs! While July was all about some family time and our short break in Jersey, August was full on! Because of the Summer Holidays, I was somehow feeling like I had to constantly entertain the Frenchie Baba 🙂 I will be honest, it was a tough month as I still had to work and look after him at home. But we had many fabulous days out! So more memories for our album-photo! Time to share with you my monthly highlights from August 2019.
Birthday Girl!
August started with a bang! It was my birthday and I turned 34! Eek! But we had a gorgeous night out in London and Grumpy Boyfriend took me to see Waitress.
It was really fun and we stayed at the gorgeous Hilton London Bankside.
Kew Gardens & St. Ermin’s’ Afternoon Tea
I have already reviewed in details our St. Ermin’s Afternoon Tea, so I would not go into too many details here, but it was such a magical moment!
Baba absolutely loved all the attention, the view from the balcony. And having his own afternoon tea like a grow-up was also something!
Before such a treat, we visited the Children’s Garden in Kew Gardens. And I must say that it is truly amazing! If you are in the area, book a session for free! It is so well thought and lovely!
The whole place is designed with many features. We pretty much spent most of our time by the stream but it so huge!
And it is a lovely place to relax and enjoy a picnic with the kids!
What a day!
Our Summer Party
We enjoyed even more food at our Summer Party. We decided to organise a mini gathering with our close family and friends. I am usually not a big fan as it is so much work… You clean up the house before, then you cook for ages… During the party, you spend the day worrying everyone is having fun and then cleaning encore once the guests are gone!
But we had a lovely time! I booked a chef to come around and he cooked a delicious gluten-free feast!
And I got to wear my new Ted Baker dress that I got in the sales in Jersey! It was really fun, so we will definitely make it a Summer tradition!
My Trip to Wiltshire with a Greener World
After all the excitement of the party and the hard-work at home, I was happy to go away on my own for one night. A Greener World invited me to a farm tour to see Lye Cross and the making of cheddar.
I was also able to see the Horton House Farm where the Rider Family raises Certified Animal Welfare Approved by A Greener World and Certified Grassfed dairy cattle.
It was a real eye-opener for me. I was so impressed to see the passion from all the team! And it was clear that the farming practices there were better for animals, but also for the wider environment.
When you think about all the propaganda we see in the media those days to get us eating a plant-based diet, you can still enjoy a sustainable lifestyle thanks to people like them!
The Dixon Hotel & Bermondsey
But after my solo adventure, I was happy to see my men again 🙂 We actually had a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend!
Saturday was all glam and party in London! We stayed at the gorgeous Dixon in Tower Bridge and this boutique hotel is worth a visit!
The decor is fabulous, while the bar (an ex courtroom s’il-vous-plaĂ®t!) serves lovely cocktails! Admittedly, I might be un peu biased as the barman was French 🙂
After a drink there, we met some friends and spent the rest of the night in Bermondsey.
We also stopped by the Ned and I was in my element in this 5-star hotel with fabulous bars & restaurants…
I am yet to convince Grumpy Boyfriend to marry me there but we are still discussing the issue ?
A Lovely Bank Holiday
After a fab night out, we picked up Baba and went for a lovely day out in Hever Castle & Gardens. I forgot how big it was!
And me to get dreaming about the Italian Garden while we were there… It is such a magical place! We will be back soon for sure!
It has such a lovely playground with a giant structure that looks like a castle! Baba adores this place! After all, he is my own little king…
And to finish it off en beauté, we got on a train to Margate the day after!
It was so on my list after visiting Broadstairs in April! It was so crowded! Seriously, half of London was there… But we obviously went to Dreamland and once more, Baba had a blast!
Kimba Kids Launch Party
Not that it was his last day of fun! The 31st of August was full-on again for us! After attending the gorgeous Kimba Kids Launch Party (and eating a lot of candies!), we had some fancy burgers in London.
I reckon we can say that Baba is living his best life 🙂
Back To School – Hurrah!
If you asked me how I was feeling the first week of September, I was really tired. I will not lie. I did not feel emotional when it was time for Baba to go back to the nursery last week!
It was more like a relief to see him go so that I could properly work at least 4 days a week. I never realised how tough the Summer Holidays could be for parents.
Looking back at it now, I know that I didn’t need to do all of that with Baba. But some part of me wanted to make some good memories and I am happy I did so!
So Worth It!
I really felt the stress to combine it all and manage to make an income in August. Being self-employed has many advantages, but it is not an easy task when the children are on holidays.
How did it go for you this Summer?
Were you happy to see the kids going back to school? I hope everyone is now settled and new routines are working well for you.
Thanks again for reading my monthly highlights! See you next month with some autumnal shoots I am sure and more giveaways!
Disclosure: This post features some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! A post for me to remember what we have been up to!
