Greedy Mummy nominated me to complete the Mummy Tag Challenge (actually I begged for it on Twitter. I had a little tantrum because I wanted to be part of the cool gang). So here we go, folks! My deepest secrets and thoughts are all yours.
- Are you a Stay at Home Mum or a Working Mum?
I am currently staying at home to look after Baba, but I am planning to get back to work part-time after my year off.
- Would you have it any other way?
For the moment no. I just want to see my babe growing up. Returning to work would be madness. When I was working, it was non-stop. I can’t even imagine working full-time with a baby to look after. I am enjoying the peace for now, but I am sure I will be more than happy to get back to school (I am a teacher) and see my students. I miss them, especially my form.
- Do you co-sleep?
Nope and will never ever do. I don’t want to squash the little one par accident. I am a crazy sleeper. I move a lot and dream aloud. Baba is staying in our room in his own cot at the moment. He’s only 4 months old. The plan is to put him in his own room later on. I am not sure how I will get on with it. I love the idea to have him next to me so that I can check he is fine.
- What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Difficult one. There are so many things we love! It would have to be his BABYBJÖRN Bouncer Balance. It’s great because Baba can stay in it while I get on with my stuff. He loves checking me out. He is very nosy. I wonder where he gets that from…? I love it. However, next Baba will have a vibrating one. Seriously, I went to a friend of mine the other day. We put Baba in it and he was asleep within 5 minutes. He looked well chilled out as well!
- How many kids do you plan on having?
I would love to have a little girl and it would be perfect. With the chance I have, if we decide to go for number 2 (Grumpy Boyfriend will need convincing!) I will probably have another boy. Let’s see what the future holds.
- Date nights? How often do you have them?
We are very lucky because we have quite a lot of help, especially from Belle-Maman. When Baba was very small, she stayed at ours and we went out for dinner en amoureux. Sometimes, she even stayed the night and took care of le petit monstre. I needed to catch up on my sleep.
- Your child’s favourite show?
Baba is still small, but he is really into a French cartoon called Petit Ours Brun. I absolutely love it. It is based on books of the same name. I learned reading with it when I was a little girl!
- Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?
A bottle warmer that I bought online and we used like three times. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My boss told me that it was a key element in his household, especially at night. Not in our house! I just boil some water, put it in a bowl with the bottle in it et voilà!
- Your child’s favourite food?
Milk, endlessly. That’s all he has at the moment. But I am pretty sure Baba will end up being a food lover (like his mummy!). He is always checking out what we are eating and even dribbles in the process. A chance he has not decided yet to be en grève screaming for proper food instead of formula milk.
- How many cars does your family have?
We have one car and I have my personal chauffeur going with it (Grumpy Boyfriend). I have a license but I’ve never driven in the UK so far. Now that I am off work, I am going to start again. Mon cher et tendre will grow up fast and will probably want to attend clubs, so I will have to drive him. I can’t eternally rely on my partner… Don’t worry, I will contact the local news the day I am back on the road for good. It might get dangerous, you better be warned.
- Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?
Are you kidding me? This is a very personal question. I don’t think anyone wants to hear about my wobbly bits, right? All you need to know is that I put on about 2 stones during my pregnancy and I am actively working on losing the little bit left. I just started the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge some weeks ago. At the start, I was like ‘Yeah, easy…’ But when week 3 started, I begged for mercy. This woman really makes me sweat! I will keep you posted of my progress later on. Well, only if I am successful right? You don’t want to witness me merding and blaspheming other swear words in French.
- Dream holiday with your kids?
Disney World in Florida. I will buy Baba some Minnie’s ears and I will pretend I am a princess. Hold on a minute, I am already acting like a princess on a daily basis ?.
- Dream holiday without your kids?
Venice in Italy during the Carnival (it looks like it has to be seen!). It would be very romantic. Grumpy Boyfriend would propose to me with a big diamond ring. Obviously, we would have a magnificent wedding. We would also buy a Victorian house that I would be in charge to transform from tip to toe. Have you noticed? I used the conditional. It means it will never happen, but thanks for asking. For a minute, I truly believed it.
- How has your life changed since having kids?
I am not working any more (but it’s temporary). I don’t have to discipline on average 150 kids a day (no I am lying. Overall, my students were good. I was lucky).I spend my life in leggings with no make-up on and dribbles all over my tops. Le bonheur!
- Finish the sentence “It makes my heart melt when…”
My babe is smiling or giggling at me. He is so cute! I like the way he looks at me like I am a crazy woman. Mon fils is very perceptive. He has already worked out that I am a bit of a nutter. Good for him.
- Where do you shop for your kids?
To be honest, I didn’t buy much (I promise!) as we got so many presents. I love baby Gap. It’s very cute. I also like H&M.
- Favourite make-up and skincare products?
It has to be French, preferably Clarins. You don’t want me to list it all. I use and love a lot of their products. My bathroom is full of them and when I travel, I take them all, even for one night.

- Huggies or Pampers?
Pampers. I didn’t even try Huggies, to be honest.
- Have you always wanted kids?
Definitely no! In my early twenties, I used to see myself a bit as a Bridget Jones. I was looking for le prince charmant and it was quite a struggle. I only considered starting a family once I settled down with Grumpy Boyfriend. Six years ago, I would have laughed at you if you dared to ask me about children.
- Best part of being a mum?
Just having the chance to see him growing up (too fast!). I am aware that many other mummies can’t do that.
Here we go, hope you liked discovering more about Frenchie Mummy. Let’s nominate people to complete the challenge. Well, if you read this post, then consider yourself challenged to complete it as well ?.

Haha- love the photo of the clarins products (I recently got some of their face wash – some kind of gel that turns to milk – I love it!) My bathroom cupboard is overloaded with products! Great list of answers – I’ve learned a lot about you! Thanks for linking to #WhatImWriting xx

Really enjoyed reading this! I was nominated for it a while ago but haven’t got around to doing it yet, must try harder!! #binkylinky
do it it’s nice and easy
Great tag lovely way to find out more about people thanks for linking to the #binkylinky

Nice to know more about you, very much enjoyed the peppering of French. Would love go to Venice carnival too #KCACOLS
Disney World is my dream holiday with kids too! My in-laws live in Florida not far from Disney, so we have a great excuse to go! # KCACOLS
you have to go then. It’s on our list as well when Baba gets older of course 🙂
I love bargains so I will have a go. thanks for the tips.
It’s really great to get know more about you 🙂
I’m with you on the bottle warmer. It’s still in the cupboard and has never been used. I think it’s been touched when I move it to get something else!

Aww i love this tag. I look forward to being tagged 🙂 My dream holiday involves Disneyland and pretending to be a princess too…namely Ariel. I really enjoyed reading this, you’re witty and i liked the bits of french too! #KCACOLS
off we go then, I challenge you to complete it 🙂
thanks for following us by the way x
I personally don’t like to write these kind of posts, I’m more of a ‘getting my thoughts organised and written down’ kind of blogger, but I learned a lot about you. Welcome to blogland, I hope you enjoy it. #whatimwriting
My dream holidays are very similar to yours. Definitely Disneyland with the kids and I’m desperate to go to Italy, I’ve never been before and it looks beautiful x #bigpinklink
thanks for following us x
make sure you take that dream holiday 🙂 #bigpinklink
Disneyland would be my dream holiday too, I’ve done Paris twice but need to do Florida best start saving. I admit to being a co sleeper when my daughter was a toddler but never thought of it as that more like too damn lazy to put her back in her bed. When she was a baby her cot was next to our bed so that was easier #bigpinklink
I love when they smile knowingly at me too. It’s so sweet & at the same time I also think they have me well figured out! That’s great you have plenty of help near by! Thanks so much for joining us at #BloggerClubUK
try Bikini Body Mommy Challenge. I am not Kate Moss yet but I already look (and most importantly feel) better. def worth trying x
Ok, I have total and utter Clarins collection envy…!! I absolutely can’t live without Clarins face cream, but it’s the only beauty splurge I have, and I can’t afford it all the time!! My mum seems to buy so much of the stuff that she gets loads of freebies, which she gives to me, and I always ask for it for special occasions! My skin really suffers though, if I stop using it for a few days. It sounds from this like you are loving being a mummy, and that is wonderful to hear! It’s fab to get someone’s perspective on motherhood through these questions and answers (although I agree the weight gain one is totally unnecessary!!) We also had a bottle warmer, that we didn’t use once!! Plus a lot of other things that were totally defunct…! I hope that you can convince grumpy boyfriend to have another baby-is he really that grumpy?!!
Thanks for sharing with #bigpinklink!
hahaha truth is he is not that my partner is actually great with Baba. I just decided to name him Grumpy because he was not enthusiastic with the idea of my starting a blog as I said here: https://thefrenchiemummy.com/2016/05/04/first-blog-post/
thanks for reading
Absolutely love your featured image! Great photo. Thanks for linking up #stayclassy
I will try. I will let you know if Grumpy Boyfriend suddenly proposes to me 🙂
I just adore these Q&A posts, so interesting – especially for a nosey so and so like myself!!! #chucklemums
Awww lovely to get to know you better! I too love Clairns, although nowadays it feels like a real treat when I get some. Also would love to go to Venice! One day #chucklemums
Great to know a bit more about you! I just did it over the weekend. Tres bon! Thanks for linking to #chucklemums!
What a brilliant tag and great questions. Great way to find out about people. #binkylinky xx
Oh what an interesting read! Thanks for linking up to #TheList x
A great insight – thank you for sharing on #sharewithme and hope you’ll join in again
This is adorable! You are awesome!
I am so so incredibly jealous that your baby weight is nearly all gone! I am nearly three stone heavier than I was to start and it looks like it is here to stay for the foreseeable future 🙁 I cannot wait to start being slim again but it just isn’t my priority right now and I have no one to look after Little R. But good luck with it! I have enjoyed reading this and I might actually do it, too!
#prettyinplaydough
You should it is really fun ? Regarding my weight I have always been quite chubby so you might still be smaller than me ?
I doubt it, I am also very chubby but I am just embracing it now 😉
