Bonjour lecteurs! Time to reflect on my Monthly Highlights and July 2022 has been full of adventures. We were ready to break off and enjoy some days out in the sun! Plus, I finished the month with a weekend in London. Just Grumpy Boyfriend and I for a romantic stay! The first time this year 🙂 Such lovely early birthday celebrations.
Home And School
The start of July 2022 was marked by many lovely walks and local adventures.
We enjoyed some cosy days at home but also in our local area.
Par exemple, we went cherry-picking. Such a classic summer activity. Did you do it?
And I carried on my gym journey, making the most of the workouts available before Stanley breaks off for the Summer holiday!
Kent And Its Beauties
He was so ready for it! Summer was in the air and we often went to the park after school.
We read, we had fun, and we explored.
Like many mamas out there, I was trying to tick as many boxes as possible before he would be at home with me most days.
We loved walking by the river or even visiting a local vintage cars show.
Soon The Holidays…
Stanley’s last week at l’école was full of fun.
Au programme, he enjoyed a fabulous disco party with his friends.
He also went on a school trip to the beach.
And bien sûr, I got to enjoy the traditionnel Sports Day! Did you know, we don’t have it in France?
And we caught up with some family in Dungeness. If you’ve never been, you gotta check it out.
It’s a bit spooky but definitely différent! Et voilà ! Les vacances were there!
Knight’s Glamping at Leeds Castle
The first weekend of the Summer holiday was an absolute blast as we stayed at the beautiful Knight’s Glamping at Leeds Castle.
Sérieusement, the best glamping experience we have ever had!
You know us, we love nothing more than an adventure in Kent, and what a treat.
You can read my full review here. We loved our tent and being able to enjoy the grounds before everyone else.
En plus, we were so lucky with the weather too! Such a magical memory.
There is also an exhibition about Lady Baillie and it simplement beautiful!
Les Vacances Continuent
The holidays carried on with more adventures with family and friends.
But also a fab opportunité for us to take part in a commercial with Brewers Fayre. Have you seen it yet? If not, catch up now on my Instagram.
This was such a beautiful time!
Stanley also went to our local Barracudas Camp where he made lots of new friends and had so much fun!
We also enjoyed an Afternoon Tea in London at the stunning Dilly Piccadilly.
London Weekend At the Sunborn Hotel
That same week, Grumpy Boyfriend and I stayed at the Sunborn Hotel to celebrate my birthday a bit early in style.
It was so good to be back in London, especially child free 🙂
I have never stayed on a yacht before, but it was absolutely gorgeous. We loved drinking cocktails while looking at Canary Wharf.
And we also did a bit of shopping at the O2 Greenwich.
With a long lie in on Sunday, followed by a sumptuous brunch at the InterContinental Park Lane Hotel.
Meanwhile, Stanley was having a blast at Nanny S. Spoiled a bit? Well, it did not last.
Le Désastre
The rest is history. I got suddenly unwell and I could not get anywhere in between our GP and 111.
It was so bad, that I ended up at the UTC on my actual birthday ?
I have not felt that bad for a long time and sadly, like many others right now I experienced what the NHS has to offer at the minute.
Not great if I am being honest… I have not been to a hospital in many years and it is certainly not something I want to do again quite frankly.
I am still recovering as we speak now. It’s been going on for a while, but hopefully, I am getting there.
Get Some Rest, They Say
During my visit, the doctor found out that I had blood pressure, so I will need to do further tests, etc.
Get some rest, they kept saying. Easy said but not so easily done.
Especially during the summer holiday and if you run your own business.
Truth be told, I still had work to do and deadlines to meet. Being a freelancer has many avantages.
But in a period like that, I felt more vulnerable than ever. I could not cope with everything and was forced to slow down.
And I hated it. I have not been to the gym in weeks, I was behind with work and there have been many times when I felt guilty.
July 2022 – Summer Was In The Air
The start of July 2022 was truly fabuleux. Filled with simple, yet lovely memories.
And when the summer holiday officially kicked in, it was full on with many days out and experiences.
But Destiny had it another way for me! The last week of July has truly been difficile and extremely frustrating, especially when I was going forward in June with my work!
But it made me realise that you also need to listen to your body and trust in yourself. Healing happens halfway in your mind.
I am not 100% yet, but getting there and more than ever ready to go to France this week! The first time in over 2 years!
So summer might be in the air after all… And as I booked a break on a farm with no internet, then my laptop will not be on! Probably for the better!
How is your Summer holiday going on? What do you make of the NHSÂ at the minute? Do you feel like you have been let down?
Disclosure: This post might feature some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! A post where I share some reflections as a mum in the country. I hope it will inspire you to get on more family adventures and rock those dreams of yours, always ?
Make sure you take it easy over the next few weeks. I bet you must be excited about finally being able to go back to France!

So excited 🙂 thank you
It is so easy to burn yourself out when self-employed, I know, I did it, if you don’t slow down, your body will do it for you! Hope you feel better soon and have a wonderful time in France! Bonne Vacances!

Merci! I am so looking forward to it. Now stuck to my laptop to do last-minute deadlines before a check-up at the hospital today and I think from 5pm today, I can officially put the Out of Office notification 😉
What a joy to read – Happy days and memories to cherish
Sorry to hear about your health, remember to try and slow down! It looks like you’ve had a lovey few weeks. You must be very much looking forward to going back to France!
Looks a great week! You are always so busy!
Wow, looks like great family fun!
Oh my! I hope you get well soon. I know you’re a devoted mum and it’s so easy to feel guilty when we feel that having ‘me’ time means neglecting every one else and letting other people down. But that’s not true at all. We can only truly love others if we love ourselves first. Be the role model to our kids. We all want our kids to love themselves and so we have to set the lead. It’s definitely easier said than done because I know I find it hard to follow through. But nothing should come before our health.
You have so many beautiful memories to look back on. I honestly can’t believe how you fit in so much. Icon o2 is right by my doorstep and it’s weird to know how near me you were. It’s nice to read about about the town I live in. Makes me feel proud I live in a place people like to visit. Hope you recover soon. Take it easy!
