Bonjour lecteurs! And just like that, it is time to share my monthly highlights! It feels like time is flying by already. February 2022 was a short month but a good one, made of so many memories. C’est étrange because I feel like I have not done much, but looking back, I have actually achieved so much towards my personal goals. And big news, I saw my mum and my brother for the first time in over 2 years!!
Call Me Sporty Spice!
February 2022 started on a good note. I am not the kind of girl who would set crazy intentions.
But I decided to look after myself better. I am so excited to have joined a gym at the Ashford International Hotel.
Its Health Club received a complete gym upgrade as part of a multi-million pound investment. The hotel asked me if I wanted to collaborate with them and I have now been a member for over a month.
I have never been a super sporty gal, but I decided to go for this opportunité and I am really enjoying it.
My personal trainer is so nice; he challenges me but also encourages me a lot. I can feel I am making a lot of progress.
Happy Boy
Meanwhile, Stanley was living his best life too with a fun birthday party and so many dates at our local play center.
I also talked to his teacher and I am so pleased he is making such good progress à l’école.
We spend quite a bit of time reading and doing extra learning at home with him.
And it is so lovely to see his reading coming along nicely. The ex-teacher in me also enjoys it.
Half-Term With My Family!
We started half-term early this year. We went to see the Ignite At Nymans in Sussex and it was absolutely beautiful.
The lights show was very good with some romantic bits. Parfait pour la Saint-Valentin.
Not that we did a lot on the day. I enjoyed some Ladurée macarons and champagne still.
Indeed, my mum and my brother stayed with us for a couple of days. It was so good to see them, after over 2 years apart! We got the house ready for them, I decorated it with new frames and a few bits to make it nice.
Stanley had a blast playing with them and he tried a bit of French too. I took them everywhere shopping, playing at the park. It was so lovely.
Disastrous Anniversary
But Storm Eunice arrived and the rest of the week was pretty much a disaster.
Thank god, my family managed to come back to France before it all happened.
But we got a lot of damage in our garden. It costs us so much money to get it all repaired…
It was our Anniversary with Grumpy. We had plans but we had to cancel.
It was such a disappointment. And on top of it, I got sick on the day, so we did not even bother going out for dinner.
I felt really unsettled. Once Stanley came back to school, I was ready for it. But I was still unwell and ended up very unproductive… So frustrating!
After The Storm The Rainbow
But life carries on. Eventually, I got there. I went back to the gym, enjoyed some more walks and I was back on track!
And I also spent a beautiful day in Tunbridge Wells.
It was lovely to get out of my routine. Especially when I got to enjoy a massage with the Massage Company.
Check out my review here. Sérieusement un bon concept!
I also caught up with a friend and did a bit of shopping in the beautiful Cotswold Company shop. What a dream place!
We have a couple of pieces from the brand and the current collection is as beautiful as ever.
Simple But Good
The last week of February 2022 was filled with more beautiful memories.
Stanley had another birthday party. We enjoyed the beautiful weather with a ride to the park on our scooters.
The same evening, we had a romantic dinner to celebrate our Anniversary for good with Finish & Feast. The brand offers at-home dining experiences. You order your food from a menu created by top chefs et voilà!
It looks so good! I wish I could cook that well.
And the last Sunday, I had organised a day out in London.
Au programme, une visite à la National Gallery. The boys were not huge fans, but they came along as I said so.
And to be fair, we then had a stunning Peter Rabbit Afternoon Tea at the Dilly. So it’s not like they have a bad life…?
After all the insecurities and unproductivity, I was ready to enjoy our weekend.
The World We Live In…
But it is was so strange to see the protest for Ukraine on Trafalgar Square.
Part of me felt weird to go and enjoy myself to a day out in London while others had their lives totally changed overnight.
I was really hoping that after the last 2 years with Covid, we were on the right path. But we are living in real strange times.
Our leaders are making decisions like us, people are only a set of pawns on a chessboard. Whatever happens between Russia and Ukraine next, it will undoubtedly have huge consequences. Even bigger than we can imagine.
I am not sure I am ready for this. And it also felt so depressing seeing people queuing for petrol…
I just got up on Monday morning and I needed air. I went for a long bike ride, to forget how ugly humanity can be at times…
February 2022 – A Short Month But A Good One
But I can not end my February 2022 Highlights on a negative note!
Looking back, it was not a very productive month. I felt frustrated and so unprepared at times.
But I suppose we all need to pause. It is part of the cycle of life. I always start January full-on and am ready to smash it all. I am quite an impatient person and I want it all now. Comes February and I am bored already haha.
But I see lots of happy memories and smiles in the photos.
So it makes me feel not so much as a failure after all.
Somewhere, somehow, I still ticked so many boxes and I achieved good things too.
Happy days! But I can’t wait for warmer adventures and Spring to come over.
What will you do for Mother’s Day? I have a fabulous series of giveaways starting tomorrow. Don’t miss out on my giveaways page!
Disclosure: This post might feature some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! A post where I share some reflections as a mum in the country. I hope it will inspire you to get on more family adventures.
