4 Great Investments For Your Winter Garden

Bonjour lecteurs! The British summer might have been a weird one this year, with cold and rain. But I still want to enjoy my green space no matter the weather. I am still hoping that summer will show at some point and September is usually a lovely month to enjoy the garden. So now is a great time to begin considering your winter garden and how to utilise it. There is always something to like about being outdoors whatever the weather, even when it’s cold. En plus, I think there is something rather magique about a garden in the cold season with the snow etc. So here are 4 great investments for your winter garden you can consider to make the most of your jardin in the coming months.

Fire Pit

J’adore l’idée to have a steel fire pit in the garden. It adds such a beautiful atmosphère to your outdoor space.

Indeed, there is nothing better to create a cosy ambiance. C’est la touche parfaite where all the family can gather around.

My dream evening? A book and a good glass of wine with the smell of the burn wood and the heat from the fire while Stanley is playing in the garden.

There might even be a warm blanket and some marshmallows to enjoy.

Plus, it can also work out cheaper than an ultra-expensive exterior heating system that is time consuming to maintain.

The Garden Seating

What does your garden look like at the minute?

We currently have a metal table with 4 assorted chairs, but I would love to invest in some wooden furniture.

In my opinion, it gives such a lovely country feel to any outside space. Not only wooden garden furniture is très chic, but it is also easy to cover and maintain in the winter.

And when you are ready to use it, just add some colourful exteriors cushions et voilà!

You could even add some side tables for hot drinks and some deck chairs to gaze at the stars or enjoy a nap in late September when it’s not too cold yet…Imagine, the brown leaves all around you and a nice pumpkin spice latte or a recomforting chocolat chaud.

Whatever is your cup of tea really… I would love to go for a rustic look like that and even go further with a hammock or a swing garden for some cosy nights with the boys… It sounds idyllic, a bit like in a movie!

Decking & Path

What sort of floor do you have, if any? Just grass? Families must always think about safety, especially when it’s wet or icy. I can be so dangereux and I am always so careful when I step on our wooden decking.

It can go fast, especially when it’s rained a bit and I am chasing our bunny Chanel in my slippers… You see the picture!?

So to make your winter garden safe for all la famille, choose materials with good grip.

Textured tiles or decking boards make une bonne option, especially as they are easier to maintain.

Now that sounds like the perfect space with the fire pit and all the wooden furniture. Don’t forget to invest in good cover so that it doesn’t get damaged over time.

Par example, a larger tarp secured with rope hooks is a good place to start, or store your furniture in your garden shed as it can prevent some direct damage from the cold.

Les Petites Touches

And to turn you winter garden into a little heaven, you can add more petites touches.

Maybe a bench surrounded by winter plants or even a couple of birds feeder to help Nature and observe les oiseaux while you relax in your garden?

You don’t have to break the bank to add some little touches that will turn your grounds into a beautiful winter oasis.

Personnellement, I love nothing more than adding some outdoors lights. We got stars shaped ones last year, but I will definitely get more this year.

It’s the easiest of my 4 Investments For Your Winter Garden. It just add this je ne sais quoi to your backyard.
