Brush Your Pet Regularly
The best way to stop pet hair from building up in your home is to tackle le problème à la source. Regular brushing removes loose hairs before they have la chance to spread onto your furniture and floors. Depending on your pet’s breed, you might need to do this daily or a few times a week.
Par exemple, our bunnies moult about twice a year. So we regularly brush them. They quite like it, it’s like a little massage to them.
If you have a dog, you can even use a rubber-bristled grooming glove. It’s a great budget-friendly option.
Use a Rubber Bristle Brush on Floors & Furniture
Vacuuming is essentiel, but it doesn’t always get rid of stubborn pet hair, especially on the carpet!
If it’s the case, opt for a rubber-bristled brush or broom to collect hair from rugs, sofas. They even work on car seats! The rubber creates static, which helps lift and trap hair far more effectively than traditional brushes.
Online shops like The Dustpan and Brush Store offer affordable rubber-bristle brushes and brooms designed specifically for tackling pet hair. They work wonders on both hard floors and soft furnishings. They make les brosses parfaites for any pet owner.
Invest in Washable Throws & Covers
Instead of constantly battling hair on your sofa and bed, why not make life easier by using washable throws and covers?
I have a couple that I swap regularly and it complétement change the vibes of our living-room too. Plus, it’s quite handy if children have snacks on the sofa and leave some crumbs behind them. You can simply shake the covers out outside and pop them in the wash to keep your home fresh and fur-free. Go for tightly woven fabrics that don’t trap hair as easily.
DIY Anti-Static Spray
Pet hair clings to surfaces due to static electricity, so reducing this can help stop hair from sticking. A simple DIY anti-static spray can be made by mixing equal parts water and fabric softener in a spray bottle.
Lightly mist it over furniture and carpets before sweeping or vacuuming to loosen stubborn fur, et voilà!
Damp Microfibre Cloths & Rollers for Quick Pick-Ups
For quick and easy pet hair removal, dampen a microfibre cloth and run it over furniture, clothes, or even your pet’s favourite sleeping spot. The moisture helps the hair cling to the cloth instead of flying around.
Or, get yourself a pet hair roller. These are great for your clothes too! I have one by the door so that I can do a quick sweep if I have hair on my winter coat. A couple quick strokes is all that’s required to remove the hair.
