    Don’t let your baby feed much more on one breast as it will mean the other doesn’t produce as much milk xx

    I found using a pillow for the first few weeks really helped, especially if you’ve had a tough labour. I was so weak after & didn’t have the strength to hold up my son!

    As a man I’m not sure I’m best placed to give advice on breast feeding but I would guess being in possession of at least one breast is a given, and recently giving birth to a baby is also important. My wife says it is important to be relaxed and make sure you stay hydrated. Oh! and stop before they develop teeth…

    I found putting a warm towel on my sore breasts helped in the beginning as my milk was coming in

    Persevere. It’s by no means the easiest thing to do and it took me until my 4th child to get it right, but even when you think your baby isn’t getting enough milk, as long as they are having plenty of wet and dirty nappies they’re doing great!
    Cluster feeding is something I learned about late so read up on it. And keep plenty of Lansinoh nipple to cream to hand in the early days!!

    Ask to see a breastfeeding helper when you’re in the hospital. They really helped me when I was about to give up trying to breastfeed.

    Know what to expect and join a group to get support if you are having difficulties.

    Make sure Mum eats and drinks enough! I know it’s so tempting after giving birth to try and lose some of that baby weight immediately, but your body needs to be fed well to keep up your milk supplies 🙂
