Starting the Day with Purpose

The most successful mornings begin the night before. By spending just ten minutes to prepare the night before, you can save so much stress and time.

Par exemple, I like preparing his school uniform beforehand so that we can get ready quickly in the morning. You can even set the breakfast table with plates and cutlery the night before, so that your mornings are not a rush.

After dropping him off school, I usually like going for a morning walk before I start work. This way, I settle nicely and I am more productive than ever. A calm and purposeful morning allows you to ease into the day rather than rush through it. It makes such une différence.

Why not start the day with some musique? Recherches showed that putting on an uplifting album or vinyl as you make coffee or get ready can instantly boost your mood. I might try this as it can really set you up in the right mood for the day ahead.

Quick Tasks That Make a Big Difference

I don’t know about you, but I feel stress when there is clutter and scrambled spaces. Take a few minutes each day to clear kitchen counters or organise keys and bags by the front door. They may seem like insignificant acts in the moment, but they add up to a calmer, more efficient household.

Plus, it really helps freeing mental space. Simple tricks like a “drop zone” for keys and phones prevents frantic searches in the morning, especially if you are in a rush.

Or cleaning up la cuisine every evening before going to bed. There is no better feeling that coming in clean and inviting kitchen. It only takes 5 minutes and can really set your day right.

Evening Rituals for Calm and Rest

Evenings are a chance to slow down and reset, so forget about your phone. Put it on air plane mode so that you can fully relax and not being alert because of the blue light.

I’ve established a strong wind-down routine where I have my phone off, I apply a serum or a sheet mask and I cuddle up in bed with a good book.

A clear routine send signals to your body and mind that it’s time to relax. Unwind fully and forget about the next task. Tomorrow is another day and the laundry can wait! No need to do it at 11pm. You need your sleep to rest and function fully.

To make sure you are fully relaxed, create a relaxing space where you can full recharge. Make yourself an herbal tea if you fancy, do a bit of knitting or read a good book. Do whatever will help you calm the nervous system and prepare you for better sleep.

Incorporating Personal Enjoyment

A good routine should allow for small pleasures like lighting a candle while you watch your fav TV show on Netflix. Or indulge in a nice shower gel for you to fully unwind after a long day. I bought some ginger bread shower gel yesterday and I was like a little girl in a candy shop. It smells so good and cosy! I just want to put some socks on and go to bed.

I also like putting a sheet mask right before bed. I leave it over night and I feel like a new woman when I wake up in the morning. I feel fabulous and I am ready to whatever the day will bring me to tackle!

Little rituals like that create true mindful pauses. It support your mental and physical well-being by focusing your mind on the present moment, rather than constantly worrying about work emails and notifications. So go for it! It only takes 5 minute and it can have such an impact on you and your family.

Simple pleasures are not silly. They help you unwind, so that you are ready for what is motherhood. I like to describe it as an emotional rollercoaster. So time to get off and enjoy small joys. Those morning & evening routines that make your life easier will soon become your favourite part of the day. You’ll soon find yourself looking forward to it as a reward for your day’s work.
