Bonjour lecteurs! What subjects do you think schools should teach our children? Being an ex-teacher myself, I know how difficile it can be to get through all the curriculum. But as a parent, I feel that many important skills are missing in our current système éducatif. Take financial literacy par exemple. That’s why I think it’s for parents to take over and do it with their kids. Another thing to add on your long list-to do? Pas de problème! Practise Financial Education With Money Video Games.
Games To Teach Financial Education
When children are very young, you can start teaching financial education with role play and fun games. We’ve all pretended to be au marché with our toddlers, paying in fake banknotes and plastic coins.
We also love playing Monopoly, that’s a fun way to learn about finances but also the world of real estate.
But once they are older, you want them to do it more independently. The key is for them to have fun. You can find many websites with all sorts of online games. We recently tried une sélection from Mortgage Calculator.
The site primarily focuses on money & finance, but your little ones can also have fun while playing. Here are Stanley’s top games.
Grocery Cashier
We started simple with a role play type of game. Grocery Cashier is parfait for younger children to practise addition and subtraction.
Basically, you operate as a cashier and you get to add up items from your customers. There are a few extra challenges. Par exemple, our customer had a voucher so he had to take off the sum from her total basket.
C’est simple, so a good one to start with younger children.
Counting Money Game
The Counting Money Game is also a good one for 3+ as you basically practise using change. As we are in the UK, Stanley did not know the value of each coin at first.
But he got the gist quickly and he was quick to add up them up correctly.
Piggybank Adventure
We also had a go at Piggybank Adventure. It might look easy at first, but don’t be fooled! You need to cut the rope holding the coin in place to send the coin into motion.
You need to carefully time your moves so that any rotating platforms are in la position correcte for the coin to safely make it to the piggy bank without falling off platform.
We were not very good at first and it actually tested our agility! I reckon it would be a popular game with many children!
Idle Mole Empire
Idle Mole Empire was his fav game on the website. The city simulation is a good way to practise business development skills and I must say that the moles are very cute with their different hats on.
The aim of this game is simple: help moles develop a thriving industrious community. Thanks to your workers, you get started on your site, earn money along the way and hire managers to automate your workflow.
The deeper you go, the more business you can unlock. It’s actually quite a bonne représentation of a company and a nice way to introduce kids to the business model.
Financial Education With Money Video Games
Whatever you kids are into, simulation games, role plays types activities, there is definitely une grand variété for children to learn about finances and money skills.
It’s a great way to practise financial education with your children. I am usually all about going out and about for an adventure so that he gets as little screen time as possible. But when there is a free interface for him to learn though play, I am all in! Plus, it’s a change of scenary from Minecraft…
What do you think? What’s your fav money game to play with your children?
