Valentine’s Day, But Make It All About You

Bonjour lecteurs! What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? It’s soon to be the day of love and celebration, and I am excited because it’s also around the time of our anniversary. So this year again, it will all be about me! Calling all the mamas out there who do it all for their family all year round. It’s time to treat yourself this year. Whatever it looks like: a lie-in with breakfast served in bed or a lovely dinner cooked by your other half… Celebrate your love with style. Valentine’s Day, but make it all about you! And don’t even feel guilty about it…

A Mini Self-Romance Week

Valentine’s Day has long been sold as a celebration of “us”. Couples, roses, and dinner out booked last minute…But let’s flip the script to celebrate YOU. After all, the most important relationship you will be in will be the one with yourself. And honestly, that relationship deserves better lighting, silkier textures, and a glass of something delicious.

This year, Valentine’s Day is all about self-romance. Think soft skin, rituals that make you feel good in your body. Start with a candle to set the mood and feel good inside and out. Valentine’s does not have to be about expensive presents and other luxuries. Enjoy small joyful moments like a long shower, a face massage, journaling, stretching, or your skincare ritual done slowly (without multitasking). No pressure, no performance, just you in the moment.

Set the Right Mood

Have a routine that makes you feel cosy and good. Par exemple, dim the lights and put your phone on silent and do something that relaxes you. Forget about the world and its uncertainty right now. The daily news is rather gloomy lately, so escape it with a candle.

J’adore a warm, comforting scent like vanilla and other sweet notes. But go with your vibes, whatever you fancy the most. From lavender to patchouli, what fragrance helps you to relax fully?

You want your body to shift from “doing” to “being.” Did you know? Scent is processed directly in the emotional centre of the brain, which is why this small ritual can instantly lower stress levels and make everything that follows feel more indulgent.

Skin Care as a Love Language

I would also include an indulgent skincare routine to feel good. Whatever you usually do, top it up with something new that you are excited to try.

Give your skin what it’s quietly craving: care, instead of following the latest beauty trends. I think that a relaxing mud mask is the ultimate self-love ritual. It’s detoxifying, grounding, and deeply calming, and it works like therapy, but for your pores. While it does its thing, just sit, breathe. Let your face feel good and detox. Don’t overdo it, though.

After the mask, keep things gentle and glow-focused. Just cleanse your face daily. It will help your skin absorb hydration more effectively. Mon secret beauté? I always start the day with a hot water lemon. It offers many benefits: it is an antioxidant, and it cleanses your skin and hydrates it.

The Power of a Slow Shower (or Bath)

Another ritual that I love? A good bath that is not rushed. Treat it like a ceremony to feel fully relaxed.

Not a rushed soak, take your time and enjoy it truly. Warm water, a handful of salts, and a nourishing bath milk can leave skin soft, calm, and deeply comforted. Milk-based formulas are a centuries-old beauty secret for a reason. They work and really nourish your skin.

No bathtub? Pas de problème! A creamy shower milk can offer the same benefits. Used as the final step of your shower, it cleanses gently while leaving a subtle veil of moisture behind, perfect for colder February days when skin craves extra care.

Bonus tip: Exfoliate before and moisturise after. Whether you bathe or shower, you’ll wake up the next morning with skin that still feels smooth, supple, and luxurious.

Dress for Yourself

Self-love doesn’t require lace or red lipstick (unless you want it to). It requires choosing clothes that feel good on your body.

That oversized sweater you secretly feel chic in? Wear it. The bold and expensive perfume? Spray it every day and stop saving it for those occasion spéciales that don’t come often enough…. Beauty is about feeling at home in your skin.

Beauty Is a Feeling

Confidence doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from attention. When you care for yourself regularly, gently and intentionally, you radiate something no product can fake.

Simple ways to show your skin some love. Drink plenty of water (at least 2L a day) to nourish your body and skin from the inside.

Move your body: it helps circulation and boosts your natural glow. Plus, we are not meant to be immobile all day!

Touch your skin with intention: massage your body in lotion or serum instead of rushing past it. It also goes for hands and feet. Even a mini manicure at home can feel surprisingly indulgent. I also like to show my body extra love with a weekly exfoliation.

Last but not least, speak to yourself the way you would to someone you love deeply.

Create A New Valentine’s Tradition

This Valentine’s Day, buy yourself flowers, or a new perfume, a book, or a beauty treat that feels like a hug. Take yourself seriously. Cancel plans if you want to. Say yes if it feels exciting. Love doesn’t have to be loud or public. Sometimes it’s a quiet evening, glowing skin, and the deep knowing that you’re already enough. Treat yourself to little beauty pleasures that make you happy.

After all, the best kind of glow doesn’t come from the last trend, it comes from treating yourself better.
