Here is my guide on how to achieve a welcoming baby shower for you all to have the best moment possible.
To Start With
Preparing your home for a baby shower starts with getting the right cleaning supplies. The must-haves for the job will include an all-purpose cleaner, idéal for pretty much all surfaces, but also some disinfectant wipes.
Get the hoover out, the floor cleaner and mop and get ready to party! Well not quite but I will try to make it fun for you…
Starting Cleaning
So that it does not become stressful, start early. A few weeks ahead, I will start by cleaning the carpets and washing the windows.
Declutter as well if you need and if you have not done it yet, I would invest in an insect and rodent management service to ensure your home is pest-free. After all a bébé is coming into your life so you don’t want to take any risks, especially if you live in a busy urban location.
Finish by wiping surfaces and vacuuming again if necessary. And a day before the baby shower, I would go through the rooms and finalise any missed spots. Don’t forget to add some cute décorations.
A Cosy Space In The Living Room
The living room will often end up as the main room pour l’occasion. So c’est important to ensure it feels warm, clean, and inviting. Start by vacuuming the sofas, chairs, and rugs and open the windows for some fresh air.
I would also add a few lamps or candles to create an inviting ambiance, and why not put a vase of fresh flowers for some couleurs?
You could also rearrange the furniture to create more space in that room and make it more welcoming.
Preparing the Kitchen for Guests
La cuisine is often the centre of any gathering as anyone loves some yummy food bien sûr! Clean the appliances and surfaces, maybe store some items to make more room for all the food to come!
Don’t forget to clean the smaller appliances like the microwave and coffee maker, to remove stains or lingering odours.
If you want une touche personnelle, why not add some personalised drink sleeves for guests to use during the baby shower. These can be placed in the kitchen area and serve as a functional item and a keepsake for attendees. How cute!
A Shiny Bathroom
With a big party planned in your home, a well-prepares bathroom is a must. Scrub the toilet, sink, and countertops to ensure everything is sparkling clean. Stock the bathroom with essentials, extra toilet paper, clean towels, and hand-washing soap to make your guests feel like at home.
I also like using air fresheners or a candle to keep the bathroom smelling fresh throughout the event. And don’t forget to empty the trash before guests arrive.
Dining Space
When preparing the dining area, focus on both cleanliness and ambiance. Start by wiping down the dining table and chairs, making sure all surfaces are polished and free of dust.
Decorate your dining table according to your theme to add up a bit of colours. Go for anything you fancy to make it wow: themed tablecloths, placemats, and napkins.
Une bonne idée is to stick to one shade like bleu ou rose depending on the sex of the baby. This way, you get a cohesive look without difficulté.
A Welcoming Guest Room
If some of your guests are staying overnight, make sure the guest room is cosy and welcoming.
Add some extra pillows to make it très spécial and maybe an extra blanket. It’s getting rather cold at the minute.
You can also add des touches personnelles like fresh flowers on the nightstand, a welcome note, or a small basket of toiletries to make guests feel at home. I would also make sure that the heating or cooling system is functioning properly, and provide a fan or space heater if needed.
How To Achieve A Welcoming Baby Shower
On the same day, I would just do a quick clean and would hoover once more. Do a final check on the décorations et voilà! With everything fresh and clean, your home will be perfectly set for a memorable baby shower.
Achieving a tidy space pour l’occasion doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Break it into manageable steps and starting early, you can ensure each room in your house is clean, organised, and ready to welcome your guests. Have fun!
