Bonjour lecteurs! Time to pause and reflect on what April 2022 has brought us. If you don’t have the habit to stop and reflect on each month, I really recommend it. Such a bon exercise to move forward and meet your dreams. I reviewed April 2022 this morning and I can’t believe what I have achieved! In my new Monthly Highlights, I am talking about our last Family Holiday & Smashing Those Goals! Let’s dot it!
Not The Best Start
If you remember from my March 2022 Highlights, last month did not start well. I found myself quite frustrated and stressed.
I was late for the opening afternoon at school and I was feeling out of control. No ticking all the boxes, not pleasing everyone.
Well, I needed a break and the Easter Holidays came up right on time.
We met up with some family for a walk in the country, we started eating chocolates well ahead of Pâques and it felt good!
Nothing is better than being in nature, having some good company and yummy food and drink in a country pub!
Easter Holiday Fun!
En plus, Stanley went to our local Barracudas Camp in Canterbury and he absolutely LOVED it, encore.
It’s such a delight to see his happy face, playing with other children, and learning new things.
Life as a mum is always full-on, so I did not feel guilty to drop him off at the camp. Meanwhile, I had a day out in Canterbury and it was so lovely to pause.
You naughty lot convinced me to buy a new Never Fully Dressed jumper and j’adore its 60s vibes and the bright couleurs. Votre opinion?
Hever Castle
And to carry on April 2022, we stayed for one night at the magnifique Hever Castle’s Luxury B&B.
It’s one of our places préférées in Kent. We had a beautiful family break.
So lovely to enjoy the gardens in the late afternoon before it closes. I can’t wait to go back there in the Summer.
And we learned beaucoup about Henry VIII and Ann Boleyn. See our adventure in my post now.
More Fun
We also slowed down a bit at home. Exit the crazy morning rush to go to school.
Say ‘oui‘ to family Frenchie petits-déjeuners with a cheeky croissant or a pain au chocolat.
Because pourquoi pas!
We also went to London Victoria with Network Rail to learn about rail safety.
Stanley is quite on point on the topic as we often travel by train. But more importantly, he was well excited to say ‘bonjour‘ to Thomas the Train!
Shorefield Holidays
We were barely back from London and we were off again for a lovely holiday.
I collaborated with Shorefield Holidays. They invited us to stay at Shorefield Country Park in one of its Signature Lodges.
Wow! We were in for a treat! It was so peaceful!
We loved getting up to the birds tweeting in the mornings or going in the hot tube in the evenings. All the détails in my Frenchie Review now!
And as always, we had many good local adventures: went to Peppa Pig World, Lymington or even Beaulieu.
Back To Réalité & London Life
I won’t lie, it was not easy to get back to réalité after such a blissful fortnight.
But we did it. Stanley settled down back to school and I cracked on with deadlines, work etc. We carried on learning at home too! Merci Reading Eggs!
On the plus side, I attended a couple of press days in London to see the AW22 collections.
Guess what I did too while in town? Du shopping bien sûr! 😆
I can never get bored of places such as Covent Garden or Regent Street.
As a Frenchie expat, London will always remain LA VILLE MAGIQUE in my eyes. We have so many memories there. I lived in London for over 10 years and I was a true Londoner 😊
I am always very nostalgic every time I go into town, but I always feel very grateful we are so close to London now!
Family Days Out In Kent
And because we always love going on an adventure, we ended April 2022 with more days out in Kent.
We went to the local funfair where Stanley had a total blast.
When your day involves some cool rides and a yummy cheesy pizza at Unita 4. Sérieusement, one of the best 🍕 I have had in a long time! I could not recommend le restaurant more.
And the same weekend, we also made it to Dover Castle. That place is huge!
We saw so much. So glad we got an English Heritage Family membership. Now, we can have impromptu days out in Kent without overthinking it.
Ending April 2022 En Beauté!
What did you do the last weekend of April 2022? We loved the Bank Holiday break!
I took Grumpy Boyfriend to the gym with me so that he could enjoy a bit of the health club at Ashford International. Oui, I am still going better and stronger. If you are looking at joining a gym in Ashford, check it out!
And on Saturday, more outdoor fun with a walk in the country. I mean, such a gorgeous view!
April 2022 – Family Holiday & Smashing Those Goals!
After a much-needed rest in Hampshire with my tribe, I felt rejuvenated and so happy.
As I always say, the best life is one where you live by your values, what really matters to you. My family is at the heart of my life and my top priorité. So looking back at all the adventures we had together makes me so happy and proud.
It doesn’t have to be a fancy place. More than anything else, I want quality time with my fave boy! Nothing is too good for him and I truly hope I am teaching him to be a good person.
But also ambitious enough to go for his dreams.
Stanley is only 6, but hopefully, he will grow up proud of his parents and what they have achieved for him!
And talking about achievements, I smashed my Frenchie goals in April 2022. Looking back, I want to work harder and do even more next month.
May The 4th Be With You if I even dare to say today 😝
What have you been doing over the Bank Holiday weekend? I can’t wait for the next one with some yummy food, more laughs with my loved ones, and some good 🍷 bien sûr! 😇
Disclosure: This post might feature some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! A post where I share some reflections as a mum in the country. I hope it will inspire you to get on more family adventures and rock those dreams of yours, always 😘
More great photos on your travels

looks brilliant!
looks like you all had a wonderful time, quality family time is so important
Wow, you’ve had a very busy April!
We’ve had a pretty quiet month, maybe I need to set myself some goals too! Time just goes too quickly!
How are you planning to do even more in May? That was one filled up April. I don’t know how you do it, going to all these amazing places, packing, unpacking. But it’s worth it I guess, creating all these lovely memories. When you’re in the moment it’s so easy to notice our mistakes and have regrets but once it’s over and you look back, it’s much easier to forgive yourself and notice the amazing job you did as a mum. We can’t be perfect. We can’t always be on time but we can always love our children and keep trying to do our best, get up when we fall and restart and that is exactly what you do. I admire your honesty and not just boast how great of a mum you are (which you are) as it makes you relatable. I love reading your blog, your train of thoughts as every mum goes through the same thing. The way you continue to strive being a mum is inspiring and help those who struggle, keep going.

Oh thank you so much! That’s the loveliest comment ever! I always try to be honest and happy to share my struggles as I am still learning along the days. I think you summarised very well what motherhood is all about!!!! Thank you, deeply!

We all feel inadequate at times but usually needlessly!
Your little boy, is going to break many a girl hearts, and he looks really dapper in his wardrobe, I wish my great grandson aged 4 had a wardrobe like his, some lovely clothes, and he is very smart looking.
