Bonjour lecteurs! Are you planning to visit Manchester with your family soon? We don’t often go up North. But we stopped by Manchester on our way back from Scotland, and the city blew me away! It’s such a vibrant area with lots to do with the kids. Fancy an itinerary with cool places to check out? I’ve got you covered! Read now our Family Staycation at the Hyatt Regency Manchester with all the best family-friendly attractions in Manchester.
Hyatt Regency Manchester
The Hyatt Regency Manchester is a beautiful hotel, which is a 15-minute walk from the centre. So c’est la location idéale for you to take as a base when in town.
Expect a modern and stylish location with all the luxuries you need for a comfy stay.
On top of traditional rooms, the beautiful hotel also offers la possibilité to stay in an apartment-style residence, Hyatt House Manchester.
Le concept est simple. You book a studio just for you and enjoy all the facilities and services from the hotel like such as house-keeping and room service.
J’adore l’idée to stay in a studio within a hotel. C’est parfait with kids as you get more space, but you can also relax with style!
Plus, you get all the perks of a nice breakfast and room service par exemple. Have you ever stayed in a place like this?
L’Arrivée
Once we arrived, I immediatement fell in love with the hotel’s atmosphere.
As soon as we stepped in our Hyatt House Manchester room, we were amazed by the views. The whole space was so light and beautiful!
Even better, the team remembered that it was my birthday and we had some welcoming treats and balloons waiting for us! Now, that’s what I call a fabulous stay! What do you think?
Stanley was très content to see such une surprise. We enjoyed some of the cake and made the most of the views.
Our Apartment-Style Suite
Our apartment-style suite was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! We took it all in, enjoying the views of the city. It’s quite spectacular, especially as we were on the 17th floor.
As for the studio, it had all we needed. As we walked in, there was a living space with an integrated kitchen.
Stanley had his own sofa bed in the first room while we had the main bedroom right by the ensuite.
It was spacious and beautifully decorated. If you stayed in an Hyatt Hotel before, you will recognise the style straightaway. The group of hotels usually goes for un décor minimal with subtle tones that feel very luxurious. It’s cosmopolitan and très élégant for a relaxing break.
Dinner At The Laureate Restaurant
If you live locally or visiting Manchester, why not enjoy some dinner at the Lauréate Restaurant for some authentic dining in town?
Le restaurant makes some stunning space for you to enjoy many international-inspired dishes.
Once more, Hyatt ticked all the boxes for families. The staff was eager to help and Stanley certainly enjoyed his ‘build your own pizza‘.
Even better, kids eat free during the school holidays and let me tell you that their menu is pretty good: crudités and dips, chicken, pasta, pizza, brownie, ice cream… It sounds like heaven!
We ordered the aubergine and salmon and it was délicieux. Even better, we could see the chefs preparing our food thanks to the open plan kitchen. We had a fabulous experience.
A Family-Friendly Hotel
Our first night in Manchester was clearly un succés. What a beautiful space! The Hyatt Regency Manchester has it all to please: great location not far from the city, excellent service, stunning room and yummy food.
But unlike other places, it has more to please. I mean, entering a room full of balloons was quite something!
Well, it did not stop there. Stanley enjoyed a complimentary night-cap of hot chocolate and cookies right after bath time! If this is not the dream life, then I don’t know what it is…
Bonjour Manchester! You are quite a dream so far! Le petit-déjeuner was also a hit with a selection of pancakes and pastries. Pourquoi pas after all?
I really enjoyed starting the day with some fruit and granola in this stunning and light setting. You feel so comfortable and you have it all to start the day right.
Manchester Museum
During our family staycation at the Hyatt Regency Manchester, we had plenty of time to explore Manchester. Here are some cool things I recommend with children.
Start by the Manchester Museum as it’s a short walk from the hotel. We went to the colourful exhibition The Cat that Slept for a Thousand Years.
It’s a fun event where you get to enjoy a series of activities before being able to cuddle a giant cat created in collaboration with robotics studio Air Giants.
How cool is that? We also enjoyed the annual showcases. We especially loved the zoology collection on the top floor that reminded me a lot of the Natural History Museum in London.
There is so much to see and it’s a stunning building too. Not to miss!
National Football Museum
Get on a tram (because it’s so much fun!), direction the town centre where you can stop by Pop Mart to check out the latest Labubus…
After a bit of shopping, we also went to the National Football Museum.
It’s huge with 4 floors of archives and collections around the most loved sport. I admired a bit of art with Beckham and Cantona, while he enjoyed all the interactive bits.
It’s quite something if you are into football.
The Science & Industry Museum
Last but not least, we also made it to The Science and Industry Museum. Such an epic destination! We actually spent a few hours there as there is so much to do and see.
Sure, the main museum is all about the history of textile in the area but the fun really starts with Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You.
If you live nearby Manchester, you must check it out with the kids. From sight to sound, you get to learn more about our 5 senses through interactive games, challenges and fun facts. This is such a cool exhibition. Stanley loved hanging out a nostril, oui vraiment LOL!
But so much more! You can take fun challenges and discover how each sense functions and sometimes tricks you. We really enjoyed it and learned so much along the way! It’s never boring and we spent quite a long time there. A must-do in the area.
If you have gamers in the house, I also recommend you stop by Power Up on the top floor. It’s basically heaven for players of all ages!
Imagine a room with over 150 consoles where you can play games from the last decades! We stayed nearly an hour and both Grumpy Boyfriend and Stanley had a blast…
LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester
On the last day, we made it to the Trafford Centre, direction LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester. Oh My! now, that was totally epic!
Imagine a play centre with endless LEGO to build and play with. Heaven for any fan. Stanley was in his element. First, you go through a little display showcasing key locations from the town before heading the the mecca.
Littéralement, he spent so much time building racing cars and testing them on the track.
But we also loved the mini ride Merlin’s Apprentice.
You also get to see a mini 4D movie, which is super fun. I did not stop laughing! We also got wet, that’s all I have to say! It’s a beautiful space for kids from all ages to build, play and have fun.
In between the building area, the race track, the ride and the soft play, you can spend all day there!
We finished our mini-break in Manchester at SEA LIFE Manchester right next to it. Au programme, jellyfish, clownfish and tortoises. I think the smile on his face says it all. It was beautiful!
We learned so many facts about the maritime world and it’s also great to witness all the conservation efforts from SEA LIFE.
If you are in Manchester, you need to spend a day at the Trafford Centre so that you can enjoy both venues and have time for extra shopping. The building is quite something.
I think LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester was his absolute favourite. If you have LEGO fans in the house, book your tickets now.
Manchester – Le Verdict
Visiting Manchester has been on my list for such a long time and it certainly did not disappoint. We had an extraordinary time. No wonder why Stanley is already asking when we will be back.
Our break started with a beautiful stay at the Hyatt House Manchester, where he was treated like a little king, nothing less! Plus sérieusement though, the hotel and studios going along with it are absolutely gorgeous.
From the moment we arrived, we were all set to relax in our beautiful suite while watching the world go by. The hotel is très chic and feels so luxurious and modern. We had everything we needed in our room.
Exploring Manchester was so much fun. There are so many cool locations to see. It was only a weekend away and yet, we saw and learned so much!
From the city centre and its numerous museums to learn and have fun, we also loved the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester and SEA LIFE Manchester before heading home.
