Bonjour lecteurs! Fancy a weekend in London with your family in a super trendy part of the capital? We often stop by Stratford International as it is on the Highspeed train line from Ashford. And last time we were in the area, we enjoyed a Family Stay At The Stratford Hotel. Come and have a look around!
The Stratford Hotel
The Stratford Hotel is based in the heart of East London.
Literally, 2 minute walks from Stratford International Station and the Westfield Stratford City, the building makes a relaxing and sleek urban retreat for you to relax with style.
Overlooking the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, you can stay in one of its 145 rooms. Or even rent one loft apartment.
The sleek location is modern with a très chic décor.
Our Arrival
As soon as we arrived into our family room, the tone was set. Indeed, the Stratford Hotel has it all with its luxury family packages.
We were quick to check in and go up to our room.
After stopping by the modern décor (and the très fascinant whirlpool sculpture!), we got greeted by a large selection of sweeties. You can go for a fruit option.
But those were really nice!
Stanley LOVED the chocolate fondant while we relaxed with a complimentary bottle of wine.
Parfait!
The Atmosphere
The atmosphere of the hotel is very modern and sleek. But thanks to its palette of greys, it also feels calming and relaxing.
Expect some modern art, a beautiful monochrome decor, and also a lot of green spots in the mezzanine to balance it all.
The Stratford Hotel is often described as a stylish urban sanctuary and it certainly is!
We sat down for a pizza in the Lounge and the lobby was buzzing. It’s clearly THE place to be in the up-and-coming East London.
But also super dog-friendly!
Our Double Double Room
We got a Double-Double Room as a family package. On top of the lovely treats on arrival, you get to be right in the center of Stratford in a very spacious room.
Both beds looked chic and modern. La chambre was immaculée!
Completed with a big screen to enjoy some cartoons and a lot of storage room to put your clothes in.
We were right at ease as you also get a complimentary accés à Netflix.
The extra game boards did the trick and we played Connect 4 and Jenga.
We were super comfy at all times and all those petites touches made a real différence. So family-friendly!
And also so quiet! As we were right next to Stratford International Station, I expected it to be a bit noisier. But I did not hear a peep at night.
The Bathroom
The bathroom equally had it all with a bath and a shower.
So whatever mood you are in, you can be fully relaxed.
The decor was very ‘modern Gatsby’ as per the room, for a very pleasant space.
The REN Skincare products fitted so well in this environment: modern, but equally peaceful!
The Lounge Bar
We spent quite a bit of time in the Lounge in the evening. With a DJ from 5 pm, it was a cool place to be seen!
Plus sérieusement though, the chairs are comfy and the whole space is so attractive and sleek!
Even though the restaurant was busy with locals enjoying a drink or a work meeting, we also mixed up with dog owners and other families.
A chic and modern melting pot for a great atmosphere.
The Stratford Hotel might not seem like an obvious choice for a family stay as it looks so edgy and modern. But it works perfectly well with little ones too.
Breakfast at the Stratford Hotel
We felt the same during our breakfast.
With a croissant (or two!) and Nutella for Stanley, he was happy!
I enjoyed a cooked veggie breakfast. It’s always so cool when you can see the chef preparing your food!
The breakfast buffet was busy with all the classic drinks and food you need.
The tables are well spaced out so that you can have some privacy. I just paused and enjoyed the sun on my face through the glass window.
Such a lovely way to get ready for London experiences!
East London
And oui! Being so closed to Westfield Stratford City, I stopped by for a un peu de shopping.
Meanwhile, Stanley made the most of the play area and the boys then went au cinéma to see Sing 2.
After lunch, we walked towards the legendary Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
We also had to stop by the ArcelorMittal Orbit for a photo and we walked along the river.
Encore, the whole space looked like the hotel: modern and vibrant, yet somehow peaceful.
The Stratford Hotel – Le Verdict
Fancy a family stay in London, but not in the West End? The Stratford Hotel offers some lovely family packages for you to discover the cool and edgy part of Stratford and East Village.
The hotel and its staff have been parfaits from start to finish.
We loved our Double Double room with its luminous & modern space. It had all the amenities we needed and it was immaculately clean.
Les petites touches such as some sweets and the welcome wine went down like a treat. It might be a sleek and modern space, but you feel right at home!
An urban family retreat I very much recommend next time you come up in town.
Enjoy a drink at the bar, watch the world run by. And your little ones will certainly be at ease too!
Prices at the Stratford Hotel for a family room start from £215.
