Bonjour lecteurs! As always, I am on a mission to present you with the best family-friendly locations in Kent and London. This time around, we made it to the stunning Chapel House Estate near Ramsgate. The beautifully restored estate is la place parfaite if you fancy a wedding in the country. We stopped by last week and stayed in one of its hideaway lodges, and I must say that it was pure bliss. Follow our adventures during our recent family stay at the Chapel House Estate.
The Chapel House Estate
The Chapel House Estate near Ramsgate is just one of those gems on the East Kent Coast.
While the beautiful location specialises in weddings, you can even stay there in the Chapel House or in one of its lodges.
No wonder it’s such a succés with celebrations in the area. Not only can you organise the most important day of your life among stunning grounds, but your guests can also stay there and make the most of the property.
L’Arrivée
After picking up Stanley from school, we drove directly there. As soon as the gates opened, we were charmed with the beautiful location.
It looked so peaceful in the sunshine. In between the barn, the main house, the lodges, but also the granary and the orchards, we were clearly in some sort of heaven.
Our Hideaway Lodge
Once you’re parked up, just follow the path and you will find a series of lodges right by a meadow. Quelle place charmante!
The Chapel House Estate features 9 modern lodges like this.
It had everything we needed: air conditioning, a good internet connection, but also a comfy double bed and a spacious en-suite.
While Stanley enjoyed the complimentary local snacks, we relaxed on the wood paddock with a drink in the sunshine.
It was just lovely and I must say that the lodge was beautifully decorated. C’est parfait if you need a break among Nature.
It felt really luxurious and yet so charming. Nothing over the top and j’adore the contrast of the modern lodges with the older buildings from the estate.
The Chapel House
But we were quick to explore further.
First, we played by the pond and the barn, before making it to the actual chapel house. Quel rêve! Isn’t it absolutely stunning?
J’adore la maison and its beautiful gardens. Sit on one of the benches or on the swing and just take it all in. It’s stunning and so peaceful.
By the way, you can even stay in the house. It sleeps up to 10 people, so if you fancy a party in the country but want something more than a villa, this is your place!
The Chapel House was actually built in 1290 and the Grade II-listed building even features a 700 year-old flint & stone chapel. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
Exploring The Estate
We also explored the orchard and the gardens. Think beautiful backdrops for photos, lots of flowers but also wild meadows.
It was like being in a movie.
Simply unwind and make the most of it et voilà! If you’ve been following my page for a while, you should know it by now… I am a sucker for this kind of places.
I know that one day, we will end up deep in the country in a place just like that. Maybe not that big bien sûr! But a country house in the middle of nowhere near some meadows or woods would be parfait…
Number Nine Restaurant
The Chapel House Estate is calling you! Even if you don’t stay there, you can make it to the Number Nine Restaurant where you can savour the best seasonal local food.
Au menu, I tried the aubergine while Stanley ordered the fish and chips.
Don’t even get me started on the décor of the restaurant. The Glass Courtyard is absolutely sublime!
Once more, all you need to do is relax in this stunning place. Have a cocktail at the lounge bar before getting to your table et voilà!
You are set for a beautiful evening in the Kentish countryside. I can’t even imagine what it looks like in Autumn with all the trees full of couleurs… Definitely my kind of places.
More Fun In The Estate
When you stay at the lodge, there is no breakfast served. But you can order one if you previously booked it.
After a good night sleep despite the storms, we got up early to explore once more the estate.
It was so beautiful in the sunshine. What do you think of the grounds? Isn’t it beautiful?
