It might just look like a selection of boxes in a cupboard or the garage, but you will definitely feel lighter straightaway. Not enough space? Then give your unused goods to charity or sell them on Vinted.  It’s never been easier to clear up.

Soothing Colours & Natural Elements

I don’t know about you, but I find certain shades can be over-stimulating. Colour psychology has been proven to affect our mood.

If you want to create a calm and relaxing space, opt for neutral and pastel shades of grey, blue, green or beige rather than very bright colours.

Par exemple, a luxury green kitchen is often a wonderful choice. It’s creates a soothing space. Plus, you can even make it more relaxing with extra plants. It goes in hand with the new trend of shaker kitchens which offer a more classic aesthetic.

Create Quiet Zones & Rituals

You should devote at least one zone in your home for relaxation. Create a space that is your sanctuary, an environment where you feel safe at all times. C’est impossible to truly recharge and unwind in a communal space that might be busy with the rest of the household. If you don’t have enough space, take it outdoors. Sometimes, a walk to your local park can be the perfect relaxing space for you to escape the demands of your daily life.

Or it might look like a ritual that makes you feel good. Personnellement, I love meditating and listening to affirmations. It might not be for you. In that case, find a hobby that does the trick. Par exemple, my best friend likes knitting by the fireplace or in the conservatory. I wish I had the patience to knit; it sounds dreamy and j’adore such vintage vibes!

Natural Light

When it comes to mental health, natural light is proven to help a lot. That’s why it’s good to go for a daily walk or at least go outside during lunch time.

You can easily boost the amount of daylight in your home. Place mirrors in the right places so that they reflect natural light. Paint your walls in light colours. Follow the same principle when you purchase pieces of furniture. Go for lighter options with even a bit of sparkles… Pourquoi pas after all?

Personal Touches To Enhance Calm

Add some touches personnelles to turn your home into an oasis of calm and serenity. What evokes a sense of calm to you?

It can be a certain playlist that soothe you. I know that I am always at ease when Grumpy Boyfriend plays the piano, especially when he performs Chopin or Debussy.

But it can also be a scent. In that case, buy a candle that makes you feel good or use an oil diffuser that can relaxes all your senses. I am using mine as part of my self-care ritual and it always does the trick, especially after a long day full of stress.

What usually sends you to heaven? Are you more of a sensory person? Then play with textures and includes some cushions or a thrown that could make you feel safe and secure whenever you are overwhelmed. The possibilités are endless. It’s down to you to create a space that works according to your tastes. Go for it! This is your home, so your way 🙂
