Spend Time Outdoors

J’adore nothing more than having an adventure with the boys. Getting outdoors is such a great way to spend time with your family and it’s très simple!

You could do anything from going to your local park, have a picnic, going for a walk or even going camping!

We also love going for a family bike ride or we often ride our scooters together.

Anything that gets you outdoors is great as you make some beautiful memories together while keeping fit!

Don’t let the weather stop you either! Even on a cold day, we would make it outdoors. C’est l’excuse parfaite to get some fresh air and grab a cuppa and a cheeky cake from your local Donegal Shops or bakery when you get in or out of the rain or snow. There is nothing better than a good walk to build your appetite!

Travel

We usually love exploring Kent, but we also enjoy going further out. Bien sûr, travel can be expensive at times, especially when you have a family.

However, it is une bonne idée to try to travel when you can. Not only it is enriching and educational, but it also helps to build memories that last a lifetime.

You don’t have to do it every year or go to a posh places. Many will save up over the year or go every few years instead. It will be as magical for the kids. Travel doesn’t have to be all about going abroad, either. You can get just as much from having a staycation and seeing places that are closer to home.

Family Time

If you haven’t done it already, you should set aside some time each week for some family time.

Both Grumpy Boyfriend and I have a busy schedule , but we always plan some time aside to be with Stanley, often at the weekend.

I like taking him to the park or doing some crafts together after school par exemple.

It could also involve watching a film together, going out to eat, cooking together, having a family game night, or anything that your family enjoys.

It’s all about spending some time together: make it part of your daily life and it will help you to form a strong family bond.

Family Meal Times

Do you eat together with the children? From a very young age, I’ve always cooked le dîner so that Stanley was eating with us.

I have always grown up having a family meal and I think it’s so important to have that moment together each evening.

It not only means that you are making time for your loved ones each day, but it’s a also a great moment to chat and ‘debrief’ about everything. We usually talk about school, life, plans for le weekend… All sorts!

And it’s a great way to integrate Stanley into the conversation. I’ve also noticed it has really helped with his vocabulary. People always say how eloquent he is, I strongly believe it’s because of all the reading we do but also because he spends so much time with adults. He picks up expressions and phrases from us and reproduce them in his own speech.
