Bonjour lecteurs! Did you watch the Coronation? What did you think of it? After another Bank holiday weekend, it is now time to get back to work. And I am starting the week by writing my April 2023 Highlights. Last month has been another busy one for the Frenchie family with a beautiful Easter break in Crete and many sunny days out. On top of working a lot too. Apparently, I am a hustler. Well, it might be true!
Starting The Easter Break
After spending the last weekend of March in London for Grumpy Boyfriend’s birthday at the Nhow Hotel, we were back in Kent for a few sunny days.
So Stanley went to Barracudas Camps. And yet again, he absolutely LOVED it with some fun activities. I mean, if he is not in his element…Living his best life!
Meanwhile, I did a bit of shopping in Canterbury and I also caught up with emails and deadlines before taking a break for the Easter Weekend.
Easter Weekend In Crete
What do you usually do for Easter? A Pâques, we tend to stay in the UK so that we can catch up with our family.
And Stanley goes on many Easter Eggs Hunts too. Who does not love chocolate eh?
But I got the amazing opportunité to work with Jet2 and go to Crete for the weekend. So we packed our bags and off we went!
We were so excités because it was our first flight in over 3 years. We stayed at the beautiful Arina Beach Resort where we enjoyed some sunshine.
Stanley made the most of the waterpark while I was just happy to switch off.
A Bit More Of Fun
I was very sad to come back to the UK, especially on a rainy day! But it made us appreciate even more the time abroad we had as a family!
And it did not stop us from having more fun! Far from it! We had time for one last sweet treat before Stanley got back to school.
But it was time to catch up with work too and create more content. And I also made it to a local restaurant for a romantic dinner with Grumpy Boyfriend. So delightful!
Couple Time
As a maman, I always have my hands full.
We have never used babysitter services and we do pretty much everything with him. But for once in a while, he stayed at Nanny S. So we could have some ‘us time’ with Grumpy.
Stanley used to regularly stay there in the evenings. But after COVID, he started having anxiety about being there without us.
So we had to stop all sleepovers as he was physically sick. Such a relief he made it ok this time around. And I hope it will be the start of more nights at his nan. Because c’est très important to have a mama/ partner balance.
Work And London
The following week of April 2023 was all about work. On top of my job as a content creator at the Frenchie Mummy, I also work in retail.
And for a few months now, I have also been teaching at a local school. I saw both jobs as opportunités to challenge myself and develop new skills. At first, it was l’excuse parfaite to get out more of the house.
So it’s been busy! And I also made it to London for a few beautiful events with @thefrenchiemummy.
I appreciate how lucky I am to be in such high demand. But there have been times when I felt like I might be juggling too much.
To Teach Or Not To Teach
On top of it all, I have been offered two jobs as a teacher over the last few weeks.
I had to think really hard about it before making a decision. But it still opened up more questions in my mind.
After all, I am trained as an MFL teacher and have over 10 years experience in education. So to teach or not to teach?
C’est la question I am yet to answer at the moment. Back in 2018, my priorités were très différentes. I wanted to be with Stanley and work around him. And that’s why I started my freelance career.
Time To Make A Choice
Nowadays, he is older and does not need me so much. But on the other hand, I can see the current challenges teaching implies. Trust me, I worked in very challenging schools when I started my career.
And I am not sure I want this life again. Plus, I don’t think teachers are much valued either. Isn’t it ironic that I got 2 offers right in the middle of teachers’ strikes?
‘Sleep on it’ they say… Well, I have done a bit of it and I am still unsure about what to do.
En plus, I don’t want to totally give up on the Frenchie Mummy, which is a very successful enterprise.
It took me years to build my presence online and I have created a community I love.
Howletts Park & Sandwich
I had a lot on my mind the last week of April 2023.
So it was lovely to go to Howlett Park for the day. Followed by a trip to Sandwich.
The atmosphere was joyous as the sun was back. People were preparing street parties for the Coronation.
I loved walking around the historic town, enjoying the weather and a cheeky glass of wine or two.
Who does not like a Bank Holiday Weekend? I say we need more like that 🙌
April 2023 – Time To Rebalance & Prioritise
Once more, we had a beautiful month. April 2023 was filled with joy and so many adventures, abroad and in Kent.
I enjoyed some special days with the boys and hustled with style. Or so I believe 😝
But to be honnête, I also had a lot on my mind…
In between my 3 jobs on top of being a mama and a partner, I have been feeling exhausted at times. I am not sure I can carry on this way for much longer.
This is my problème, I want it all. But yet, I lacked my usual balance over the last fortnight. So maybe it’s time to decide what I REALLY want to do with my life and my career. Only the future will say so!
What do you think about teaching as a profession? Would you like to do this job? Do you think it’s getting harder for children? Would you go for it and decide to become a teacher?
Disclosure: This post might feature some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! This a post where I share some reflections as a mum in the country and in London. I hope it will inspire you to get on more family adventures.
