Bonjour lecteurs! I hope you are enjoying half-term. What’s been your best memory with the kids? For once, Stanley only had a week off, so it passed really quickly. We even made it to London for un petit weekend in town and we had so much fun! This time, we explored the Bloomsbury area, which brought back memories of my university days. If you are looking for a hotel in the heart of London with excellent service, the DoubleTree Hilton West London is your pick. C’est parfait as it’s so close to the British Museum, but also Covent Garden and more.
The DoubleTree by Hilton London – West End
The DoubleTree by Hilton London – West End is situated in a beautiful, Grade II-listed building from 1911. You can’t miss its original Edwardian façade on Southampton Row.

C’est la location parfaite in the West End with over 250 rooms. Previously know as the Bonnington Hotel (you can actually still see its name on the façade), it joined the Hilton family in 2011 and went under a huge refurbishment.

While the building still showcases some of its history, it’s now a modern and stylish hotel in London, within walking distance of major attractions like the British Museum, Covent Garden, and the West End.
Our Arrival
From the flower arrangement to the décor, I was immédiatement impressed with the DoubleTree by Hilton London – West End.

As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the team and Stanley got spoiled rotten with a book and some games to play with. Now, that’s what I call a good start!
The hotel is very family-friendly and the whole team makes sure that everyone is at ease. We had a drink at the bar while he checked out his goodies. Such a relaxing start to the weekend.
L’Atmsophère
The 4-star hotel has it all to please with luxury touches. The décor is a mix of contemporary designs, with neutral tones so that it feels welcoming and très élégant.

Our Premium Double Room
Our family room was absolutely divine. I checked in first without the boys (they were in town) and I was amazed by all the animals waiting for us on the beds.

Quelle belle surprise! It was very sweet to find all those cute friends waiting for him, with some extra chocolates and a cake for us. Bienvenue to London with style!

Everything looked impeccable. From the extra storage to the spacious family bathroom, we had it all to be comfy.

And look at Stanley’s space! He had a double bed just for him. I certainement loved the fox themed bedding going on too. He was well impressed when he arrived and tucked in the chocolate cake as soon as he was in.

We made ourselves comfy, watched a bit of TV (always my guilty pleasure as we don’t have one at home).
Shopping In Town
But we were quick to go out and explore. Direction Monmouth Street and Covent Garden. While the boys checked out Forbidden Planet, I enjoyed a shopping spree at Saint + Sofia.

As I was in the area, I also stopped by Rokit, THE vintage shop to check out in London! Have you ever been? It’s a gem like no other. We walked along the busy area, full of Londoners and tourists.

There is such a vibe around there, especially in Autumn. We walked back to the hotel and rested a bit in our room before heading to the Writing Room for dinner.
Dinner at The Writing Room
The hotel’s restaurant makes a contemporary space where you can enjoy a mix of multicultural food with a cosy and inviting ambience.

I can easily imagine local people catching up there around some drinks and a good meal. Au menu, Stanley tried the soupe of the day (vegetables), while we shared chicken gyozas and tikka tale tacos. What a mix of flavours! It was absolutely délicieux.

As for main, I got some spaghetti Bolognese and I was full and happy.

The menu is inspired by writers who once lived in the district, Virginia Woolf and E.M. Forster, hence why each dish is like a travelling experience. I must say it’s all done very well. We enjoyed quite mix flavours from different countries and it was a succés.
The British Museum & More
After a lovely night sleep in our beautiful room, we started the next day at the Level Restaurant for breakfast.

I might have enjoyed a full English Breakfast full of protein, but he made the most of the pancakes machine. That was quite something!

Well-fed again, we decided to go to the British Museum. It was busy, but we made it and loved exploring the collections.

This time, we made it to the Ancient Greece section and the Mummies. We try to do a bit at a time. It’s such a big one.

What’s your musée préféré in London? I love the British Museum. But weekends are also made for fun. So after checking out, we went to Sixes Cricket Club in Fitzrovia to play cricket. That was so cool! I’ve never tried it before, but we actually did not do so bad.

Look at the Frenchies in action…Give it a go in the cricket nets and finish your experience with some good food. The brand teamed up with Kricket, the famous modern Indian restaurants. So we got to try some samosa and roti wrap. Once more, a good foodie place to check out in London!
