Bonjour lecteurs! Currently, life feels like a mundane routine. Is that me, or are days so alike? I feel like I am on autopilot with school runs, work, cooking, dinner, TV, and bed. It can be monotonous and tedious at times. I go for daily walks, but I would love to spice things up a little. I fancy something else. Are you in the same boat? Here are some fun family experiences that spark imagination. Wherever you are, at home or out and about, here is a list of activités that will spark curiosity and bring excitement to life.
Everyday Imaginative Activities
Imaginative activities are all around us. C’est très simple. It’s only about turning everyday moments into playful experiences. On a cold and rainy weekend, why not try activities that stimulate imagination and encourage collaboration among family members?
Instead of watching TV, plan a themed dinner where everyone cooks. It doesn’t even have to be compliqué either. The other day, we made our own pizzas, and Stanley keeps asking about our next pizzaiolo adventure.
Or you can do some arts and crats. It’s a great way to bond together. I enjoy painting with him more than building models. But we try to switch things up. We just did a project with Lite Brite last week and it was so satisfying to do it with him… We also love doing LEGO together. What’s your fav craft or indoors activity to do together?
Other Cultures
I’ve said it many times. Learning through fun is the best. That’s why every time we go somewhere or explore a new area, we always stop by a musée or a gallery. I am always looking cultural events and festivals taking place for us to explore more.
Par exemple, this summer, we made it to Scotland and we love going for walks and discovering other places like St Andrews. We also stopped by Manchester and we had a blast in between 3 museums. It included art, football, but also science. I want him to learn outside school as much as possible.
I also feel that c’est important to show children the world and introduce them to new cultures. We went to Rhodes this summer and it was fantastique. But many other countries are on my list: Denmark, Italy, Korea, Turkey or even Japan cruises can be ideal for families. It would be a dream come true to go there on a family staycation.
Encouraging Outdoor Adventure
Nowadays, it feels like both children and adults spend a huge amount of time glued to a screen. But I always try to get some balance and plan some outdoors adventures. It can be a walk to our local woods or even some time at the play ground.
Whatever it takes to get him active. Being outdoors can help massively with physical and mental well-being. Some idées include nature walks, scavenger hunts, or weekend excursions. You can make the best family memories this way and you don’t even have to break the bank! We love scooting but we would do all sorts, so that we practise key skills such as teamwork while fostering curiosité.
All About Traditions
Life is busy enough for parents, so no need to over-complicate things. I find that we tend to be quite cyclic and we end up doing similar activities every year. Family traditions give structure and it is a nice way to have something to look forward to together. Right now, we are in our era where we enjoy local parks and playgrounds.
But comes Christmas and we will certainly enjoy the Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle. We also like to have a long weekend in London for his birthday in January, so I will plan something soon.
Fun family experiences that spark imagination don’t have to cost a lot of money or require a lot of planning. Sometimes, the best memories are from spontaneous moments. Unplanned things are the most exciting. It can be some local exhibition or a trip to London to visit your fav museums and galleries. But you can also make fun family memories together at home: cook, get your hands dirty in the garden with the little ones. Or just drive to the sea front and enjoy a cheeky fish and chips. Or have a little camping trip with marshmallows and muddy boots! Those are the best moments ever.
