How To Improve Your Dog’s Life With Simple Habits

Bonjour lecteurs! Do you have a dog? Or are you looking at getting one? It’s estimated that over 40% of British households have un chien. Even if we don’t currently have a pet, we would love to have one in our old age. If anything, they make the most loyal companions. I’ve always grown up with dogs in my childhood home, and I dream of long walks in the Kentish countryside, a puppy alongside me. For now, here is how to improve your dog’s life with simple habits.

Give Them A Safe Space

To have a good life, any canine needs the right space to grow and develop. Set up a warm and hazard-free spot for them to stay in your home.

Whatever works for you, whether it’s a corner of the sofa or a basket somewhere in the living room, your dog needs to feel that they are part of the family. Make it personnel for them with some treats or quiet toys. They will feel right at home.

Good routines matter too. So you need to set up training and rules that work with your household. Let your dog choose when to go in or out. Never lock or force them inside, as it can be distressing for them. If you need to go to work, get a dog sitter rather than having them locked up all day.

You also need to teach children how to interact with your pooch. There are times when your dog wants rest and not to play with little ones.

Feed Them The Right Diet

Nutrition plays a key role in keeping your dog well, whatever the breed they are. While older dogs would need fewer calories, the best option is probablement to feed your dog raw food.

The Farmers Dog makes a great option. It’s a dog food subscription where you can build your own box based on what your dog needs or likes the most. Let’s not forget a little treat from time to time, without overdoing it bien sûr.

I would also look into supplements to keep your canine as active as possible.

Mental & Sensory Enrichment

Your doggy needs to be mentally entertained too. Whether you take them for a walk or they are in your garden, let them sniff around.

Like other animals such as rabbits, I would régulièrement use some puzzle feeders. It turns mealtime into an interactive problem-solving game. Not only does it prevent cognitive decline, but it can also help them digest their food better.

Keep Up With Regular Vet Visits

Routine veterinary check-ups are a must so that you keep on top of their health. Plus, you can detect any issues early on and address them quickly. You never know; something that looks insignificant at first could get worse.

Things can happen quickly, and treatments can also get expensive. I would look into pet insurance so that you are covered if they need an important operation par exemple.

Maintain Grooming & Hygiene

Like humans, dogs feel their best when they look good inside out. Now, they don’t need all the skincare we use. But a little bit of grooming goes a long way.

Regularly brush your dog to keep their coat clean and prevent any skin conditions. Don’t forget to trim their nails too. Otherwise, it might get painful when they walk.

Also check (and brush!) their teeth. It’s also une bonne idée to get them some dental chews. It will prevent gum disease and support overall health.

At the end of the day, you want your dog to be as comfy as possible at all times.

Bonding With Your Dog

Improving your dog’s health does not have to be rocket science. It’s just about establishing good daily habits with them. Sometimes, even just a little change can make such a différence.

Ultimately, if you build a healthy relationship with your dog, you’ve got the base covered. To keep your dog happy, bond with your pet.

As long as they feel cared for, they should already be half there. After all, canines are like humans. They have feelings, and they want to be part of the pack.  There is nothing more loyal than a dog. Enjoy all those beautiful moments with your companion.
