Bonjour lecteurs! It’s already mid-August, and I am so late to publish my last monthly highlights. This is what happens when you juggle work during the school holidays. Admittedly, I am not complaining. It’s good to slow down a bit and make the most of the summer with my boys. But July 2025 has truly been epic! I mean, I like having a diary full of dates and events and we’ve certainement done a lot… And Just Like That, I am a Socialiser. Let me demonstrate what I mean 🙂
Loving The British Summer
What do you love the most about the British Summer? For me, it’s how changing it can be or am I being ironique here… Sérieusement though, one day it’s 31°C and next, it’s moody and cold.
So when the sun is out, you’d better make the most of it. That’s why we went it to Camber Sands after school on a Wednesday evening.
But we also had lots of fun at the school fair or on our bikes and scooters. I love exploring our area and seeing Nature changing in the seasons.
Then, Sally the nanny came for a project with Hamilton-Wallis and it was lovely to see Stanley interact with her. If you are looking for childcare in September, I could not recommend more their services!
Beauties in Kent
We had even more fun in Kent the second week of July. Stanley enjoyed the transaction week and we are pleased about his new teacher staring in September.
This time, we made it to Leeds Castle for its annual concert in the park and what a treat! It was so beautiful.
You sit in the sunshine listening to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with a Pimm’s or two… Now, does it sound like a summer dream? We visit Leeds Castle all year round, but it was the first time we made it to this event and it did not disappoint.
The day after, we had lunch at my in-laws before I headed to Eastwell Manor for a twilight spa evening.
C’est très relaxant there and I can’t wait to go back for a spa day in Autumn. Another fav in Kent.
Foodie Places
As the summer school holidays were approaching fast, it was time for more family adventures in Kent and London.
We checked out the new menu at the Green Room before seeing a show at The Marlowe Theatre. Yummy!
But we also tried the Peter Pan Afternoon Tea at Aqua Shard. Quelles vues! It was such a stunning experience!
If you like a good afternoon tea in London, this one is quite something as you can overlook London.
If you’ve been following my page for a while, you will know how much I love London. So I was definitely in my element there.
Nearly The Summer Break
As Stanley was enjoying his last days in year 4, I was back in London on King’s Road for an event with Heinz. Bien sûr, I also enjoyed a bit of shopping. A Frenchie gal can not resist some good sales!
I popped in Sandro and Peter Jones. In between the AW25 collections, I got a new silk shirt that will look beautiful with a blazer.
But I merely enjoyed walking around in the area on my own, making the most of the peace before the school break. I used to go shopping all the time with my friend there and it’s changed so much. Or am I getting old? Places like this always brings so much memories as it will be my 17th anniversary of living in the UK this year…
Hever Castle
But enough talking about the past! Stanley was off school and we kicked off the festivities with a stay at Hever Castle.
Did you know that you could actually stay overnight in the childhood home of Anny Boylen? The location is the perfect family day out all year round already.
But if you stay overnight in its adjacent B&B, you get to enjoy the grounds in the evening and early morning before it opens up to the general public!
And what a treat… I was walking along the gardens while the cast was rehearsing for Anne Boylen The Musical. It was ever so peaceful and I felt so lucky to enjoy this moment. Sometimes, even the simplest things like observing ducks in a pond can be dreamy…
Rhodes For My 40th!
But there was no time to dream and ponder too long. Soon, we were off to Rhodes for our annual summer holidays and I was finishing off deadlines, packing up while Stanley was at a local French club.
Grumpy Boyfriend really treated me as a princesse! We booked a week at the stunning Amada Colossos Resort and quel rêve!
The philosophie of the hotel is that you enjoy complete relaxation with exquisite tastes right by the sea. I must say that it ticked all the boxes!
But I will tell you more when I write a full review in another blog post. For now, I am still catching up with work and deadlines.
July 2025 – And Just Like That, I am a Socialiser…
Looking back at July 2025, we’ve done so much while both working and looking after our son.
It’s a real gig to be a working parent in a modern world! You know what it is like… But, we always make time for each other. We genuinely love spending time together and I always have a smile on my face when I look back. Plus, one day I will be 50 and I will recall again all those moments together with nostalgia, je suis sûre…
And just like that (thinking about the famous show with Sarah Jessica Parker that I am loving at the minute), I am a socialiser. Isn’t obvious?
L’idée to stay at home and relax frightens me 😂 A blank diary sounds like a nightmare and here I am, rushing before going away again next week. Sometimes, I wonder… What will it be like when I reach 50?
Well, to carry on the reference to Sex and the City and its world, I must quote the famous Samantha Jones. It gotta be ‘fabulous’, nothing less…
It’s officiellement mid-August 2025 when I type those lines and I am now staring my 40s with panache ( I hope) and many more adventures to come ( I will make sure of it…). But for now, let’s make the most of Summer 2025.
Disclosure: This post might feature some sponsored content I recently published but it is merely a list of my highlights of the month! This a post where I share some reflections as a mum in the country and in London. I hope it will inspire you to get on more family adventures.
