Bonjour lecteurs! What do you usually do over half-term? London is only a short half-hour train ride from Ashford. So we love going into town and exploring the city with Stanley. Last week was even more fabulous as we enjoyed a Family Staycation At Hilton London Bankside. We’ve stayed at the fancy hotel before as a couple and I could not wait to test it as a famille!
The Hilton London Bankside
Located near the vibrant South Bank, the Hilton London Bankside is a historic building with a contemporary edge.
From the outside, it just looks like a typical London building. But don’t be fooled. With nearly 300 modern guest rooms, the hotel is parfait to explore some of the most famous London attractions such as The Shard, Tate Modern, Borough Market or even Shakespeare’s Globe.
With a pool and a gym, you can also relax with your famille.
Or enjoy some yummy cocktails at its adjacent restaurant, the OXBO Bankside.
You can’t miss it with its beautiful flashy ‘Bankside’ sign outside. We had to take some snaps there!
Our Arrival
As soon as we came in, we got to enjoy the beautifully decorated reception.
The tone was set with its mid-century style glass panels, armchairs and vibrant coloured lights.
The reception is so stylish! And let me tell you that the Distillery is worth a visit too!
Stanley was greeted with some sweets, so that was rather a great start!
The Atmosphere
Overall, the Hilton London Bankside is a very well decorated hotel with a really good atmosphere.
Small touches such as the modern lights or even the Halloween decorations make it stand out, for a truly luxurious experience.
If you fancy a stylish staycation with your family, this is a good spot. The service is absolutely impeccable.
Mix with other families and businessmen for a bit of je ne sais quoi.
Who says a mini-break with children could not also be sophistiqué?
Our Family Room
Our interconnecting family room was something too! I was expecting some good space, but that was simply amazing!
We literally had adjoining rooms so that Stanley had his own space.
It was like having an apartment just for us on the night.
No need to say that the little one was delighted to have his own chambre. And for once, I did not mind either having our own adults space.
Our room was very spacious with a desk if you need to work. But also a lot of storage for your stuff.
The bathroom was also impressive with both a shower and a bath. All were decorated with a modern touch.
We enjoyed a glass of champagne with a très British view with trains not far.
Every time I stay in the Southwark area, I don’t know why, I feel like I am back in the Bridget Jones movies.
It was très spécial!
Stanley’s Room
Stanley’s room was equally beautiful. So much space just for him!
He enjoyed the big bed with les petites touches.
Get your children ready to spot all the foxes around the hotel! They are everywhere.
With a new sweet teddy for him to keep and free snacks at the bar, our little one was clearly in heaven!
He also had his own bathrobe and slippers, as well as some kids’ shampoo!
He certainly made himself comfortable on the sofa…
Facilities
I must say I was very impressed with our family room.
With a complimentary bar for us to enjoy and so much space, I knew it was going to be a special break!
We headed off straight away to the pool on the basement floor.
As it was half-term, it was very busy with other families staying over.
But it was lovely to see Stanley playing in the water with other children! And we also stopped by the jacuzzi. Relaxation time!
Dinner At The Distillery
After getting ready, we headed to the Distillery for le dîner.
But first, we stopped by the exclusive lounge with free drinks and nibbles.
Once more, expect some beautiful modern decor. Many other families were relaxing there. You can enjoy some TV and drinks with other guests.
The plush décor looked un peu like in a smart library, which was very charming!
But off to dinner! Stanley LOVED his burger and chips on his own foxy plate. Such a good portion for a kids’ menu!
And we may have shared this delicious chocolate dessert.
A great night to remember. So much fun! We were fast to go to bed.
Breakfast At The OXBO
After a very good sleep, we enjoyed more yummy food for le petit-déjeuner.
Once more, you are in for a treat at the Hilton London Bankside.
So much choice whatever you fancy! Sweet or salty, pick up your favourites!
You can even order some cooked breakfast in the kitchen. See the chefs in action making sure you are happy!
So Stanley went for some fresh pancakes.
And I got myself a croissant aux amandes. I have not had one like this for ages!
No need to say I was happy.
What a great way to start the day!
Half-Term in the South Bank
We made it to the Tate Modern for un peu d’art.
It is not so much Grumpy Boyfriend’s cup of tea, but what a fab way to spend the morning.
With drones jellyfish to welcome you or even some arty cars display, Stanley took it all in!
How amazing is this library art piece!
En plus, he also got to be un petit artist. We left our touch for others to know we stopped by.
We spent the rest of the day on the South Bank, walking around, playing by the Thames and having some Greek food for dinner.
More fabulous memories with my two favourite men!
Hilton London Bankside – Le Verdict
We had such a beautiful stay at the Hilton London Bankside. Truly, the staff makes its mission for you to be content in a beautifully decorated space.
We really liked our adjoining room. It was pure bliss to have a more ‘adult’ space, while Stanley enjoyed having his own big bed!
So much space for your family! The décor, the food, the welcome, I can’t find anything to fault…
We have stayed over there as a couple in the past and we will certainly come back as a family may we have another break in the London Bridge area.
Le plus? The special touches like luxury toiletries, bathrobes, slippers. You are truly made to feel very much like at home. Indeed, Stanley even said it was way better than our own house 🤣
The breakfast was impeccable. We had so much yummy food!
If you are looking for a luxury family-friendly hotel, I could not recommend more the Hilton Bankside Hotel.
We had a stunning stay and I can not wait to share with you more photos on my Instagram!
Prices at Hilton London Bankside for a family interconnecting room start from £345.
What’s your favourite London area to check out with the children? Have you ever stayed in Southwark?

Looks AMAZING – somewhere id absolutely love to stay too
This looks wonderful but exhausting!
It looks like an amazing place to stay for the whole family.
Nice 💜
Looks very smart
It all looks very swish and impressive! Mind you, I’ve not stayed at many hotels (other than when I’ve been on holiday) so it’s all still rather a novelty. I’m sure I could quickl get used to the High Life lifestyle!
