Lunch At The Secret Garden Kent

Bonjour lecteurs! Did you set yourself some 2020 goals? This year, I want to organise more days out with my boys. Quality time with them is key. And we started the new tradition straight in! Indeed, we had a sumptuous lunch at the Secret Garden. We stopped by last week before going back to school and we had a lovely time. Regardez!

The Secret Garden Kent

If you are based in Kent or visiting the region, stop by the Secret Garden. The restaurant is located in the Court Yard just outside of Ashford.

Not only the food will charm you, but you will also be in for a treat with its Victorian walled garden and cobbled courtyard.

If you follow me on Instagram, you will recognise the premises as we have been there before to shoot ?

The restaurant serves British cuisine, but you can also go there for some delicious brunch or have an afternoon tea with your friends.

And with both vegetarian and vegan options, there is something yummy for everyone!

Besides, the Secret Garden is also a wedding venue. Have a look at my stories on Instagram for a full look! It is all there!

And don’t get me started on the Glass House! Can I move in it now to make it my office? ?

Drinks & Starters

The place has some cool vintage vibes with its decor so I ordered a Pimm’s Royale and I was not disappointed when it arrived!

I personally skipped the starter as I wanted a dessert. I saw the homemade cakes as soon as we were in and I knew I could not miss this out!

Grumpy Boyfriend ordered some Smoked Salmon Roulade.

I tried a bit and it was very refreshing and what a lovely presentation!

Mains

Our mains were also un succés.

The Pan-Fried Mullet with its Musset Velouté was un délice according to Grumpy Boyfriend.

Et moi? I went for the Wild Mushroom Baked Eggs. It was piping hot, but I really enjoyed it!

Parfaite brunch option! And you can add up a bit of chorizo if you want to spice it up!

All the food arrived promptly and was well presented too.

Sweets

Grumpy Boyfriend did not have any. So Baba and I felt obliged to try some!

He had some homemade Victoria Sponge cake and the cream was a dream! It is not often that we do desserts, but this option was idéale for the place.

When you are in a restaurant with such vintage vibes in the countryside, you need to have this (oh so British!) cake!

And I ordered a Brownie Milkshake. It was huge and very rich. But délicieux!

And look who helped me out with the tasting? The photos talk for themselves. We had a lovely time!

The Secret Garden Kent – Le Verdict

Our lunch at the Secret Garden was a lovely pause within the first week of the year. Exit the January blues!

It is a dreamy place with its sublime surroundings in Mersham-le-Hatch Village and its beautiful food.

Prices are sensible and the restaurant is very peaceful in a beautiful setting.

Un autre plus? You can always easily park (Grumpy Boyfriend’s contribution ? when I asked him for an opinion).

The service was parfait and I saw the same kind of attention to other customers. Our waiter was even wearing a bow tie! I absolutely loved the vintage touches!

And so family-friendly too! It is always a plus point, right?

And don’t even get me started on the Victorian garden. Despite it being a gloomy cold day, it still felt like a dream to walk around for pictures!
