Bonjour! I am Cécile and I am French…
Eight years ago, I landed in the UK to work as a language assistant. It was just supposed to be for a year, but I am still here! Now working as a proper teacher (but off work to look after my gorgeous baby), I live in the South East of London with Grumpy Boyfriend and Baba, our sweet little baby. Let’s not forget Loulou, the hamster and my bag and shoe collection.
I just decided to start a blog, just to do something else other than disposing of nappies, preparing milk bottles and cleaning the house (last resort for me). Being a mummy at home is fun, don’t get me wrong. But I actually want to make my brain cells work a bit.
Wanna know more about us?
I like expensive handbags (preferably French handmade to say the least, but I am open-minded to other expensive brands), shopping, chocolate, fashion, reading, visiting places, going to the theatre, sport (sometimes when I am in the mood or my clothes start to stretch dangerously), going for nice walks on a gorgeous sunny day followed by a pub lunch. I also love checking useless stuff online, nosing in on other people’s lives on Facebook and I am addicted to cheese (being French obliged). Let’s not forget, my ideal holiday is a Spa break where I get pampered for endless hours. In other words, I like being treated like a princess. I hate beetroot, watching sport on TV, being told what to do, especially when it implies I need to do some housework.
Grumpy boyfriend is into playing video games, researching conspiracies (he sees them everywhere, I kid you not), playing keyboard and reading non-fictional books that make him think (whereas I admit without shame that I am more than happy just to read chick lit books or fashion magazines. I used to read proper French literature when I was younger, but these days are long gone). He can’t resist watching blockbusters like Batman, Superman or X-Men (deep-down, he probably dreams of being one of them) and he is obsessed with Star Wars. He is already talking about taking Baba to Disney World and go on all the rides in Star Wars Land… He hates lies, cheese and shopping. He also can’t bear when I am moody, especially when it’s for a silly reason. Oh and at the minute, he just hates his job as he must work pretty much non-stop, even at the weekends (someone needs to earn the money to butter our bread while I have fun taking care of Baba). Don’t blame him, it is pretty boring to stare at spreadsheets all day long and try to say something interesting about social media. Don’t ask me further details about his job; some of its aspects are still a mystery to me!
Baba is a sweetheart who loves milk (he goes through nearly 1 litre per day and don’t you dare to take the bottle away from him) when he gets attention (he definitely got it from Maman) and watching me doing a workout with dumbbells. He also adores when he is in his bouncer (Who invented this wonder? You have my eternal respect!). At the moment, Baba is starting to talk. Well, it sounds more like a gurgle or a coo but I think the desire to communicate is here.
Whether you want lots of children (or if just one will do for you thank you very much), you are pregnant, a first time mum or an expert in the area or just want to laugh at me blabbering about my life and my thoughts, the Frenchie Mummy Blog is the perfect place for you. It will be my little space where I will share my adventures, express my fears and doubts (I am sure they will be numerous) but also my happy moments with my little tribu.
Now, bear with me. I am a total novice when it’s about blogging and I am pretty rubbish with new technologies. I just do my bit, but I am far from being an expert. So be prepared for basic stuff at the start. Oh and don’t take offence if my posts are sometimes full of mistakes. English is not my first language and a mummy’s brain gets very tired at night…
I hope you’ll enjoy it. Welcome to my little world.
Thanks for reading!

Great “about” page im also new on this crazy blog train and im loving it! Now to put the kiddies down for a nap, brew and a read through the rest! (The ironing can wait!)
I agree, great about page. I’m the opposite, British in France! No huge surprise there, only we do have five children, one husband, all same father no less!!! They are all bilingual so they have the best of both worlds. Thoroughly looking forward to your blog, it’s fun, I started mine just 18 months ago, I was so nervous when I first hit publish, as if I was putting myself on show, but hey, I did it and have never looked back!
