The Daddy Tag Challenge with Daddy Pig from Rhyming With Wine – Guest Post #7

Bonjour lecteurs!

A huge merci to all the bloggers who completed the Daddy Tag Challenge this week. I apologise if I publish it a bit late, but I have been very busy this week. I posted another review and giveaway yesterday and the tasting took a little bit of time. Make sure you enter our competition for a chance to win this fab prize!

Our last review is on with a giveaway!

We also had the chance to try some fabulous clothes from Petit Bateau, one of our favourite Frenchie Brands. I found myself doing a fashion shoot with Baba… The review and all those gorgeous pictures will soon be published on the blog, so make sure you have a look.

This week, I selected Dawn’s who is blogging over at Rhyming With Wine. She kindly asked her husband, famously known as Daddy Pig, to answer our questions. Her post is just hilarious! I could not select this as my guest post. Make yourself comfortable, get a nice hot cup of tea and enjoy!

Wendy very kindly nominated my very own hubby – “Daddy Pig” to take on the challenge. Now, you have met my hubby.  He is a man of few words.  And so my first thought was that it might be easier (and possibly quite good fun) for me to just answer the questions on his behalf.  In the end, though I decided to wait for an appropriate moment and then pounce on him with my request.  His immediate response was:

“What are you on about?”

“An interview?  Like on your blog?”

“Don’t be ridiculous.”

Half expecting this (he’s not exactly what you’d call a lover of blogging), I left it a little while, and sure enough he eventually came around to the idea and so I pinned him down quickly before he changed his mind and asked him the following, (whilst typing the answers as quickly as I could):

Are you a Stay at Home Daddy or a Working Daddy?

What’s that mean?  Well, I work!

Surely you could answer that but yeah thanks for asking me.

Are you typing everything I’m saying?

Would you have it any other way?

No, I certainly bloody wouldn’t.  Quite happy for you to be stuck at home with them all week.

Editor’s note: Tots are climbing on his head at this point after their bath.

Do you co-change dirty nappies? Even the very smelly ones?

Yes.

A little fairy gives you the possibility of breastfeeding? Are you going for it or do you run away?

Run away. (Giggles to himself.)

Ridiculous.

Me: What breastfeeding?

No just the idea of a man breastfeeding.

What is the one must-have item for a daddy?

A wife

(Finds this very funny.)

How many kids do you plan on having?

Two.

Me: Anything else to add?

And I’m happy that we’ve got one of each.

Is that alright?

Lads’ nights? How often do you have them?

Once every three months I’d say.  Not often enough.

Your children’s favourite achievement?

Erm.  I think the main achievement is Miss Tot not wetting the bed every night as she just never has.  For Mstr Tot I think it’s doubling his vocabulary at the age of two from one to two words(laughs).

What is your best memory with your kid(s)?

I think my best memory with Miss Tot is when we woke her up to go downstairs to see her first snow falling. I just remember her face when she first saw the snow.  We put some shoes on and went out and it was so quiet, with big flakes of snow.  It was a very magical moment.  Like something from a film.

Me: Anything for Mstr Tot?

I don’t know if we’ve got any good memories for Mstr Tot?  It’s just been constant whinging for two years?  Hopefully, we’ll get some in the next year.

(I hug Mstr Tot.)

Name one thing you miss since being a daddy?

Peace and quiet.

Freedom.

Oh it’s just one thing, isn’t it?  Peace and Quiet are fine.  Do I need to give answers or talk about it?  I’d rather just get to the point.

Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now? And we mean YOU DADDY, not the mummy!

I kind of gain and lose weight with you don’t I?  So whatever happened with you will have happened to me.  (Aside from the pushing out of a tiny human part.  Just saying.)

Dream holiday with your kids?

I think Salou will be good when we go next year.  I think when they’re older they need to go to Disneyworld don’t they?  I don’t know if that’s a dream of mine, though.  Just anywhere that there’s a kids club really.

Dream holiday without your kids or even without the other half? (You’re allowed to dream)

I think the Maldives, but I’d like to go with you (I’m honoured).  I’d be happy with that.  I mean there’s quite a lot of dream holidays that I’d like to do.  I’d like to do a big cruise as well.  Without the kids.

How has your life changed since having kids?

It’s a lot busier.  It’s a lot more tiring. But it’s a lot more rewarding.

And Christmas time is so much more fun and it’s great to see the kids getting excited about going on holidays.

Finish the sentence “It makes my heart melt when…”

The kids go to bed?

(Chuckles to himself.)

(I scowl at him)

Err. Probably when Miss Tot says something nice.

To Miss Tot: “Have you ever said anything nice to me Miss Tot”

Ah, I tell you when it makes my heart melt.  When both of the kids give each other a hug.  That’s really nice, isn’t it?

Favourite beers brands and football team?

Favourite beer is probably Kronenbourg.

Brands?  What do you mean by brands?  I can’t afford anything like that now!

It’s Gola mainly these days.  Ralph Lauren’s good isn’t it?

Football is Liverpool.  Not that I have time to watch it nowadays.

Huggies or Pampers?

Is that nappy type?

Pampers isn’t it?

(For the record we’re ASDA Little Angels, but having read so many recommendations from you guys we have just started trying Aldi Mamia.  Thumbs up so far!)

Have you always wanted kids?

Yeah, I think so. It’s not something I thought that strongly about until I met you.  And then it felt right. Then I wanted a baby.  I think when I was younger I thought I could go through life without having kids.  But then once I met you I knew that I couldn’t.  Does that make sense Sweetheart?

(Pulls self together again after such a mushy compliment.)

Best part of being a dad?

I think taking the kids on holiday. Getting home and seeing the kids run up to me and say “Daddy Daddy!”  That’s nice, isn’t it?  It’s not very profound, is it?  But it’s what came to mind.

Is that done?

Is that the last question?

Let me read what you’ve done.

I’LL DECIDE if it’s acceptable.

(Chuckles to himself.)

I never thought I’d convince Daddy Pig to do an interview but it actually took a lot less badgering that I expected.  As you can tell, he is a man of very few words, but that was actually quite a blessing, as at least I could keep up with my typing as he was speaking haha.

This made me chuckle. Very similar to the answers by husband (cableboy) would give.
